Fun Royals bar. Friendly to non-locals. Dirty tacos were fabulous. Pool tables, darts, lots of fun!

Burger day at Johnny’s every thursday! Today’s special was the quesadilla cheeseburger with fresh guacamole, fresh jalapenos, and fresh cilantro. It was amazing and I highly recommend it. As always the service was great and the food was fantastic!

Johnny’s is always willing to accommodate our large work groups for lunch. They so chill about putting tables together. Service is fast and friendly and the food is always good. The turkey wrap is huge — I gave half of it away. I ordered the veggies on the side and while I loved the mix, they put too much pepper on them this time.

My wife and I love coming here for the games on Sunday. The staff is always very friendly and the service is great. Typical bar food, but always good. The pizza is delicious. We like the open setting and the number of TV’s that they have. Great spot for just hanging out with friends.

They have really good pizza and they are one of the few places that have a bar atmosphere but the waiters and waitresses will have a full conversation with you and that is something I look forward to when I go to a bar with my dad and it was a great place to go to and you can have a lot of fun and they make your food really fast and it is hot as hell but it tastes really good. I recommend going here.

Ok I love this place. The female bartender that just got promoted to AGM was amazing, she is the reason we called this our new spot. Food is great. Drinks are great. Love the atmosphere. But tonight we had a male bartender with circle frame glasses who was extremely rude. Aside from making our drinks he did nothing for us. When he finally came over we asked for a menu… he smacked one down in front of us and said«you have 5 minutes to order.» I would not have ordered food that late knowing their kitchen was about to close… I’m a server at another bar, I know how it is. But he was so rude about it that we asked for the tab and left. Probably not going back… sad that one person can ruin a whole restaurant/bar.

Pros: Decent beer selection, good tvs, and several games to choose from. Cons: Non friendly waiter. Had the pizza, it was thin, soggy and very greasy.

After hearing from some friends who frequent this Johnny’s that a lot had changed for the better, I decided to visit again. They were right, and I definitely do not want my negative but very honest former review to keep Johnny’s from proving they can be great. Everyone deserves another chance, right? First of all, a renovation has occurred to create a super cool open concept double bar space. I like sitting in the upper space so I can see the whole place. The down side of that spot is that I cannot see the beer taps. Management has changed from several years back, and I think it is apparent both in clientele and in staff/customer service. Just a more professional approach to service, and the obnoxious people I would regularly see there before don’t seem to be hanging out anymore. I have been three times since my negative review, and I am confident that OP Johnny’s has made a turnaround. I am glad because this location makes meeting some of my best friends an easier accomplishment.

The Wednesday chicken sandwich special is a great deal. A specialty chicken sandwich with one side is $ 6.00. My buffalo chicken sandwich had a large chicken breast with tasty sauce, and the fries were meaty, and perfectly seasoned. Very nice!

Best pizza in KC… Sounds weird that a Bar/Grill would have best pizza, but try it. New York style. Wings are also awesome. This is my go-to pizza/wing/beer spot.

1/excellent pizza — and Sunday $ 12 special(4 toppings!) is a super deal 2/the French dip sandwich is out of this world good! 3/a fun, low-key place. As casual as it gets in JoCo. Lots of TVs.

Came for happy hour on a Friday night with some coworkers. Our server was really on her toes and kept coming to check on us and keep the beers coming. We ordered some potato skins and buffalo chicken strips and both were pretty good, those strips were spicy! It was nice not to feel too crowded at a bar on a Friday night, I like the space and the layout.

Johnny’s is across the street from the grocery store I use, so it’s a quick and convenient place to eat on Thursday evenings before I get my grocery on! I’ve been there twice and both times the food was good, but so much more than I could possibly eat. While I could have taken the leftovers, I find that leftovers don’t reheat that well, so a lot of food was laid to waste. I guess that’s better than not getting enough food, right? The first time we had an appetizer of fried pickles and jalapenos. Wanna know something about me? If you put fried pickles on your menu, I’m going to eat them. But not spears! DONOT put fried pickle spears anywhere near me. Whomever decided to serve pickle spears over chips in fried form was an idiot. Fortunately, that is not the problem at Johnny’s. I wish there was a way to order only fried pickles instead of having to have them mixed with jalapenos. The fried jalapenos are delicious, too, but in my world, pickles are the stars. I had the buffalo chicken wrap thingie. It was good. I enjoy buffalo chicken and this didn’t disappoint. The second time we had the pretzels as an appetizer. DELISH! They were served with cheese and mustard. I like a good mustard. After eating the pretzel, I didn’t feel that I was very hungry, so I decided I would just order another appetizer and have that as my meal. Appetizers are usually small plates, right? Yeah, I thought that, too. So what did I order? Nachos! A small plate of nachos would be the perfect thing to fill that spot left in my stomach. However, what I received wasn’t a little plate of nachos. No, not at all. Apparently, the nachos appetizer is more than that… a lot more. I was presented with a giant platter(about the size of a large pizza), piled high with chips, cheese, meat, veggies… Holy jeebs! I tackled this giant platter of nachos, but in the end, the nachos won the battle and the war. Two complaints: nacho cheese is a little meh… Or maybe I’m just bitter that I was bested by a plate of nachos. the service is a little iffy. The first time the waitress acted like we were interrupting her life. The second time, though, the waitress was great even though she seemed to have a million things happening.

Good burgers, you can get sweet potato fries instead of regular fries, cold beer… the trifecta of sports-bar food. Lots of big screens to watch lots of games. Service can be a little spotty, I’ve had fairly surly service from a bartender at lunch but I’ve also had excellent service on a busy playoffs night. Johnny’s primarily markets to the KU faithful, so expect a madhouse during those games. Also, they have music bingo on Thursday nights, which is fun & usually pretty lively.

They get 4 stars on Thursdays for burger day. Any other day of the week it’s more like 3 stars. It’s bar food with lots of sports on TV. I think sports fans will love this place. Service is pretty good but don’t order anything more than beer from the bar.

We came here on a Monday night to watch the World Series. Surprisingly the game was on a lot of big screen TVs and the house sound was dedicated to it instead of Monday Night Football. The good stuff: Most of the craft beers were $ 3.25 and the pizzas were half price. I got a Leinie and she got a Blue Moon. We liked some of the unusual items they offered as pizza toppings. We got hamburger, green olive, cream cheese, and artichoke. It was a very hearty pizza. We brought half of it home. The bad stuff: The server, Kelsey, was very slow. I mean VERY slow. It took us forever to get greeted. The empty table in front of us was dirty with chunks of food all over it and remained that way through our entire visit. When we finally got our bill it was incorrect. We were charged $ 4 for all of our beers instead of $ 3.25. When we pointed it out, she responded that Blue Moon was a Super Premium and was not $ 3.25 on Monday night. Really?! #1: Blue Moon and Leinenkugel were the same price. #2: If anything Leinenkugel is a step up from Blue Moon. Why didn’t you mention this when we ordered it? There didn’t seem to be a manager of any sort on duty. If there was they were in the back of the house and never came up front. The bartender seemed to be a supervisor of some sort, but I wasn’t going to interrupt the flow of her game behind the bar to piss and moan about our server. We had one other experience at another Johnny’s where we waited so long to get greeted that we got up and left. Tonight was the night we decided to try again. My opinion is that they don’t stress fast friendly service to their staff. There was a group of employees all huddled together at a table in the corner which seemed to be a distraction to those who were working. It was a mediocre experience all the way around, and certainly nothing I’ll be racing back for. The service ruined the experience.

Stopped by Johnny’s Tavern after work last week for a few drinks with my co-workers. I got there around 3:30PM and left a little after 5. The bartender girl was in no mood to make any mixed drinks(yes, she told me this) so I went with rum and coke. During Happy Hour their wells are only $ 2. My friends ordered a plate of sweet potato fries and chips and guacamole. The guacamole was good but the sweet potato fries were way too salty. All the employees seemed really hung-over. But maybe that’s typical for a sports bar? I wouldn’t know. Their bathrooms are clean. It started to get busy right before I left(around 4:45). The place filled up really fast. I kept seeing people I work with… guess Johnny’s is the place to go for an afternoon drink.
