When I lived in NYC I depended on thrift stores for high fashion clothes at next-to-zero costs. Prior Attire on Nall is a very high end store. Even people who don’t like thrift stores will like this store because it looks more like a chic boutique. The old lady volunteers are very helpful Shopping is easy and the costs are low – though the prices are a bit higher than a more low-end thrift store. Plan to stop in for a few minutes frequently. Be patient. You will be rewarded.

I had a better experience with the staff than Chris G. But at times, I think I would have rather been ignored. Too much friendliness bothers me more than being ignored, and the volunteer who was there the day I stopped by was Really Friendly. Like«Imma talk to you like you’re my best friend» friendly. Um, no thanks. Just show me where are the belts, please? The style of clothes they sell are very conservative and the selection is tiny. They could do a lot more with the space if they got rid of the jewelry counters(which seem to be a weird mix with the re-sale clothing). I gotta say, though, I was so immediately bored with the clothing selection I spent a lot of time browsing the jewelry while my shopping partner was in the dressing room. Unless I’m with a shopping partner in the future who has a burning desire to visit here, I won’t bother going back – even if they do support a good cause.

After driving all over the 95th and Nall area, I finally found this shop(it’s currently at 9555 Nall). Let me just say, the wait and search was not worth it. :(It was VERY small, and had just a few racks of clothes. The selection was very slim. If you are not a small or medium, the choices are very few. I had hoped that this store was going to be similar to the one that used to be across the street to the west, but methinks not. There were around 5 people in the store, and I believe at least 4 of them were workers. They were quite busy visiting, and none of them greeted me or offered me assistance. Perhaps somewhere in the back there was a REAL shop with more clothes, but I couldn’t seem to find it… and the employees couldn’t seem to ‘see me’. I was more than a little disappointed. There used to be a couple of nice resale shops with a good selection. I was hoping to find one at Prior Attire. Don’t waste your time. :(

Prior Attire’s subtitle is «A Feel-Good Resale Shop» because in 2007 they doanted $ 34,000 to local charities. I think that is really cool and community support like that is really essential. That being said, I am not a «thrift store» gal. I have always wanted to be. My sister always finds the coolest, best stuff at thrift stores, I get frustrated and leave. I went to Prior Attire after hearing about them from a place I volunteer at and it is really a neat little store. I collect books – someday I want to have a library with a rolling ladder:) – and they had alot of books as well as clothes, purses, shoes and housewares. I took a few nice pieces to Prior Attire when I moved and it really a great place to take your nice no longer needed items. Little shops like this are neat to browse through – you never know what you will find and merchandise is always changing and their work in the community really makes it a win-win.
