First time here and it was a great experience. Free ice cream, friendly staff and good food. What more can a girl ask for? Definitely will be back again!

Located in the cluster of plazas on Aloma just over the Winter Park line, in between Tuskawilla and the 417, Dickey’s is smokin’ up some tasty quick-serve BBQ. The BBQ connoisseur(Hubby) likes the sausage, brisket, pulled pork and more. Folks are stuck on the pulled pork. You can get meals, sandwiches, or order by the ¼ lb of meat. With the meal you can choose sides– baked beans are a thumbs up and the Potato casserole is a family favorite, who doesn’t love potatoes, bacon and cheese? A nice touch, warmed sauces, choose from original, sweet or spicy. Dickey’s caters and does special advance orders around the holidays– including smoked turkeys and hams. Friendly staff will walk you through the menu and their favorites, if you are first timer. Great with take out and call ahead orders.

Everything is delicious! The sides are yummy! Potato Casserole, green beans, BBQ beans, waffle fries, fried okra, onion rings, Mac n cheese… The sliced turkey and pork are great even without BBQ sauce! Lunch specials are awesome! My new favorite BBQ which I can’t I’m saying because I usually go to 4 Rivers!

We found this place via a coupon and loved it! The service was fast and allergy conscious. We will be back!

We’ve been to Dickeys a few times the past couple of months and like it! Its a quick way to get really good barbeque at reasonable prices. Positives: $ 5 combo daily special gets you BBQ pulled pork sandwich and either drink or side. Other daily specials. Large drink cup can be brought in for 99 cent refills. We love the okra and onion tanglers. They give large portions of both so hope they keep that up. Free kids meal Sunday w/adult purchase. Free vanilla ice cream cones. Staff are very friendly and helpful. Love the tasty brisket, chicken breast and PP. Negatives: Need little more brisket meat & ribs are small and lacking meat. Without coupons or specials, prices are a little high. But overall, very convenient, tasty food and hardworking staff!

I’m torn while writing this review. I want to give them a high score based on location, staff, and appearance. Unfortunately, I don’t like their food. I’ve tried various items and they just don’t do it for me. It’s not that it’s bad, my wife and friends love it. Me? Not even a little. I don’t know if it’s the seasoning or their sauce or whatever, something is off. It all looks great, visually appealing, but once it hits my mouth, appetite gone. Pity really. However, the positives. It’s located right off of the 417 exit, next to a Starbucks, across from a Wal-Mart, across the street from a Publix. It’s incredibly convenient. The staff is nice, friendly, and helpful, always good for a restaurant. The restaurant is always clean and organized. Well done. Oh yeah! They also offer free ice cream with every meal. That’s awesome.

Decent BBQ but not great; if anything, I did think it was better than Sonny’s, which is usually dry and bland. I ordered the daily special, which was a pulled pork sandwich with two sides and a drink for $ 8. The pork was very moist but the bun was HUGE(height wise). Too much bread, in my opinion. I ordered the fried okra and waffles fries as my sides, which were cooked while I waited. I got an incredible amount of both of them. I had tea as my drink, which was okay. Pecan pie was acceptable but I’ll probably skip dessert next time. I didn’t necessarily have a bad experience and the food was perfectly fine; it was just some of the little things that bugged me. For example, they were out of tea, so I had to ask. Not a HUGE deal but it took like 10 minutes for it to come out. And I ordered fries but there was no ketchup. Turns out the afternoon shift didn’t let the evening shift know they were out and so they had to run to the store. Needless to say, I ended up eating the fries without sauce, which was fine, but it irked me a little.

Came in for the first time today. Everyone was extremely friendly and helpful. Got a 5.00 combo with a pulled pork sandwich, side, and a drink. It all tasted amazing! The employees would come to the table and check if everything was good(even though this is a seat yourself type of restaurant), showing they do care about their customers. I’ll definitely will be coming back: D

First time eating at a Dickeye’s, we took the whole family(5 little ones) and really enjoyed it. Had a tasty brisket sandwich with the original sauce and fried okra. Kids were overjoyed with the free soft serve. Friendly service, easy access from 417. Will be back.

$ 12 for a ½ rack? No quarter chicken? No table service? Expensive, stand up service, doesn’t have the most common menu items? I walked out, so cannot comment on the food. I cannot fathom a reason to eat at Dickeys, especially when there is a Sonny’s down the road that is far cheaper, has a bigger menu, and actual service.

I got the special of the day –The big bbq sandwich. It’s was a beef brisket sandwich with 2 sides and a drink. The beef brisket was yummy; however, there was too much bread. I tasted more bread than brisket. The 2 sides I got were baked beans(delicious) and potato salad(not so much). The drink is massive and you get to take home the cup. The best is that you can bring it back and only pay $ 1 – so they know how to get repeat business. Oh – and they have free vanilla soft serve ice cream with a cone. Made lunch that much better They had 3 sauces – sweet, original, & hot. Not complaints but nothing stood out about them either. Dicky’s does NOT have fries! How do you have bbq without fries – there goes 1 star The girl behind the counter, Sarah, was really helpful and nice. She even checked on us while we were eating to make sure everything was good. She doesn’t even work for tips, so that gave them their french fry star back. I’ll be back one day, and I’ll probably forget my cup.

I’ve visited this place several times over the years… It’s changed owners a few times. Today I visited for the first time in months with low expectations since my last few visits were mediocre at best. Wow! Our food was amazing! The service was great! The whole experience was spot on! I hope it lasts. Will visit again soon!

Dickey’s is fine when other restaurants might be busy and we don’t feel like waiting. Or when we have a coupon. The food tastes fine, they have root beer which is great, and warm sauces make it special, but the prices are just a bit too high for their portion sizes. I’d rather spend a little more somewhere else and have leftovers for the next day. The management is always friendly, but sometimes the counter service can lack a connection.

After a lengthy period of time where Dickey’s was closed, it’s back up and running. This time it’s a family venture, and it definately feels that it’s a mom and pop place now. Still corporate run, but you get the feeling that the entire family is always there… Still sub-standard BBQ. Everything still seems to come pre-bagged from headquarters, but it’s decent. I got the loaded mamoth baked potato, and it was obviously baked for a long amount of time so it got a nice creamy texture. However the toppings were lacking, as it was just a smattering of pulled pork, and a scattering of cheese, with an overabundance of margarine and sour cream. This is a BBQ place to venture to in a food emergency only.

Final update edit: I’ve eaten dozens of meals here. Tried most of the menu options. It’s my new favorite bbq place! I find myself thinking about Dickey’s multiple days of the week. The chopped brisket sandwich(I ask for lean just to make sure I don’t get a lot of fat) is the current champion in the STATEOFFLORIDA. This may be a national brand but it feels and tastes like the perfect hometown bbq spot. My obsession with Dickeys keeps growing. I basically only eat bbq wherever I go, so I consider myself an expert in taste and quality. I would eat here every single day if I could afford it. And a tip for the best Dickey’s bbq sauce: Mix 50⁄50 sweet and mild and you’ve got a perfectly hardy sauce.

Dickey’s is great BBQ and PITBEEF. I have there twice all good. Nancy had the Special a pulled pork plate with two sides.(her sides whipped cheesy potatoes and green beans) I has the same Special but with(my bake beans and green beans). Also, we have a wonderful roll with the meal. This one of our regulars. And you can get catered pans to go for TAIL –GATINGPARTIES…:-o price is right…

So my boyfriend and I were craving BBQ and wanted a place to take his grandma, we had tried other BBQ places around the area and finally decided that we should try Dickeys. I was pleasantly surprised, we all walked in had told the owner that we had never been there and needed some help maneuvering around the menu(wasn’t too clear on what to do) so he came from behind the counter and had introduced himself and his wife that they were the new owners. He explained how to do everything, super nice. Told us that there was ice cream for everyone at the end of the meal which they always do — you should have seen my boyfriends eyes! On to the food, I have to say we each did the pulled pork sandwich(how original I know) but I love pulled pork. You could get your sandwich in 3 different sizes which is great! I got Mac n cheese and green beans(my ultimate favorite!) it was pretty good I have to say. The pork wasn’t dry which can be so easily done! He had brought us over some extra sides which was so sweet, the ribs were delicious! The fried okra was up to my boyfriends standing — pheuf! Unfortunately we didn’t have enough room for dessert after all the food but all decided that we would go back again!

I’m not the biggest fan of eating BBQ from a restaurant but I can say that this place definitely exceeded my expectations for the place. Its located right next to the new Walmart in Oviedo and the service there was really quite good. Its quiet and the employees are actually friendly and start real conversations with you while preparing the food. Which might I add is always prepared with gloves, I can’t count how many times I’ve seen food prepared with bare hands and I just walk out. Not here. From 1 – 10 I’d give the service an 8 For the food alone I’d give it a 8.5, I suggest anything chicken, really good. Also I keep my cup and bring it in anytime I go for cheap refills. Overall pretty good lunch spot for a quick BBQ fix.

Buddy from work took me here for lunch because Thai Villa was closed… out on vacation for a month. whowuddathunk? We both got the pulled pork plate with mac n cheese and bbq beans. Let me start with the sides… the beans were pretty mushy. no bite to the beans and seemed like they were from a can. mehhh Next… the mac n cheese is no better than Kraft Mac N cheese. The cheese didn’t even taste like cheese. The pulled pork was pretty bland and was not as moist as I would have liked. Best part of the pulled pork was drenching it in the hot n spicy BBQ sauce. Free ice cream cone at the end of the meal was okay as well. Ice cream was a bit gritty and icy, instead of nice n creamy. Overall, okay for the price you pay. If you’re willing to pay a bit more save your money for Four Rivers instead.

Has this place seriously been in business since 1941? And if they have been, did the food always suck this much? This place is near Kohl’s which was how I even found out it existed. It initially seemed promising and the lady behind the counter was nice and very funny but … 13 bucks for lunch? Damn… and then they have a station for sauces which were watery and not all that appealing. When the food got to my table it was like they had slapped a whole bunch of a grease on to a plate. Man was it greasy!!! I can’t tell you why I even attempted to eat it but I was hungry so I went for it anyway and I kid you not, while I was eating; I could feel my stomach violently protesting against the contents I was feeding it. I think the people at the other table could hear my stomach, seriously! I had to end up dumping almost all of my food away and rushing to the nearest bathroom. The only memorable thing I got out of my trip to Dickey’s was hugging the John afterwards and the cool yellow cup; never coming here again.
