Not much to be said here, and that is a good thing. Despite being one of the smaller libraries in Seminole County, this is a great place to just sit, be quiet, and read. The staff are attentive and friendly, and if you ever need help finding, reserving, or ordering a book, don’t hesitate to ask.

I only discovered the library recently and I have to say, I am pleasantly surprised. I don’t know why, but I have never been one to visit a library but it has because growing up I wasn’t in an area with public libraries. The staff is friendly and helpful. I can’t really attest to the selection since as I mentioned, I am not one who has frequented libraries often, but they do have the ability to reserve books and find them from within their system if you can’t find it. Overall, great location in Oviedo!

Based on the reviews I’ve read, this library seems like a boring old school type library. Libraries should be more like he South Huntington Library. . It has a children’s library with appropriate books and and huge selection of children’s movies and video games. The children’s room also has about 16 PCs and a play area. There is also a teens room with teen books and a movies/rec area. They also have an XBox and Mac notebooks to use. The SHPL also has a theatre where they play movies and various performing art shows for all ages. They have a beautiful courtyard to read and some evenings live music. I haven’t even got to the main library room. There are large study rooms and iPads, kindle, etc and a huge calendar of activities for all ages. Most reviewers of Seminole say it’s a place to get what u need and leave. My kids are excited to go to their library on Long Island and don’t want to leave. We are planning on moving to Oviedo, Fl. Not having a good library will be a huge loss to our family.

Okay, I admit, I come to see the roosters wandering around in the parking lot and wooded areas surrounding the library. However, as far as libraries go, I do appreciate how friendly the staff is and how easily accessible this place is. Although I wish they would offer video rentals, the selection is fair given the size of the place. You can also get books sent over from any of the other Seminole County branches in no time. My only complaint is that if you have any kind of overdue book fee — however small, even 25 cents — your account will be blocked until you go in to the library to pay it. That means no holding books, etc. I think it would be helpful if they at least raised the fee limit or something so you’re not automatically blocked out. Otherwise, it’s a nice library for kids and adults alike.

They have free Internet, and have some magazines. They also have older book titles, it’s almost like they carry only books that are donated. They really need to find some sponsors to get newer books. But the people that work there are nice, and occasionally I find something that interests me.

One of five This is the East branch of the Seminole County Library System but most people call it the Oviedo Library. It is one of the five Seminole Country Libraries built in the early 80’s. The library is clean and well organized but lacks any architectural or historic charm. Does what it is suppose to do quite well but certainly without any special charm. the type of place where you go and accomplish what you want but don’t remember the building or people at all. The East branch has all the usual library stuff and competent and pleasant staff. Everything is designed for efficiency and not aesthetics. The type of library where you will do what you came to do but not linger any longer than necessary.
