I seriously just had the WORST experience with the front desk and«manager» ever. I can’t believe this place is still open and I don’t understand WHY some people choose to come here. The front desk associate hung up on me twice first of all and yelled right at me. They made their way to making mean and disgusting comments about me… Someone they have never ever met. They are SO unprofessional and compete LIARS!!! Please please please stay away from this place… This place needs to be shut down.

Disgusting! Sleep in your car if you have to. This place is from hell. Only reason why we stayed here was because all other hotels were full. If I would have known it was this bad I would have stayed in my car. Room smelled like cigarettes and had stains EVERYWHERE. At the front desk they still had the audacity to tell us to not make a mess. This place should be shutdown!

Disgusting. Roaches were chilling on the table the moment I opened the door. Every drawer opened would startle at least two more out from hiding. They were crawling out of holes in the carpet. I asked for a refund and they refused.

I’ll keep this short and simple: don’t stay here under any circumstances. This is the worst hotel in Oxnard and probably the entire county. From the time that I lived in Oxnard, just a few blocks from this hotel, I can recall at least two homicides that occurred at this location. I remember walking by as a child and watching as they fished a body out of the pool. And just recently(May 27, I believe), a man was shot in the head behind the hotel. I don’t even want to know what goes on inside the rooms. This is one of those places that give special weekly rates to junkies, prostitutes, etc. who wish to take up temporary residence. The neighborhood has improved greatly over the last decade, but it’s still one of the worst parts of town. Do yourself a favor and splurge for a room just about anywhere else… except for Surfside Motel down the street, which has a similar reputation(although not quite as bad). Across the street from Surfside is Seaside Inn, which is of questionable quality, but they at least make an effort.

Please do not stay here. If you’ve already made your reservation, pay the cancellation fee, cut your losses, and go stay someplace else. My friend and I reserved a room for two nights, with two beds, for our trip to the Channel Islands. We knew we would arrive late, so we tried to call the motel to inform them, but no one answered the phone. When we arrived, we were given a room with one bed – the«only one left,» according to the manager. No big deal to share a bed, but the mattress was as hard as a rock and the two pillows were flat and useless(and there was no blanket – just a bedspread that I was afraid to sit on for fear of catching something). The room smelled like strange cleaning supplies and the walls and bathtub were stained with something brown(I think it was makeup – I hope it was makeup). The paint had chipped off the toilet seat and the entire bathroom was rusting in spots. The windows in the bathroom were the kind that are plastic slats that tilt together, so they couldn’t even be closed properly, and overlooked the alley behind the strip mall next door.(The noise at night wasn’t too bad, though.) The entire place was crumbling like something from the Third World – my friend said it was just as bad as any place she stayed during her trip down to the tip of Baja California. The only positive was the shower – the tub seemed clean enough, the water pressure and temperature were just right, and the showerhead had a nice spray. I felt grimy again as soon as I stepped out of the shower, though.

100% complete shit hole. Showers caused neighbor’s toilet to flood, there was a hole in the wall, smoke detector was hanging off the ceiling, sheets and comforters were stained, and the hospitality was even worse! While outside smoking, the owner of the hotel insisted we go back into our rooms because we were causing a disruption. He then threatened to call the police(note we were only outside smoking, hardly talking to each other). Our disruption was listening to the guests tell us how crappy this place was when they had to be moved from one room to the next because their toilet flooded after the adjacent room to them finished showering. The pool was filthy, the place is just a complete mess, and the owner is a jackass and a liar. After threatening us and telling us to leave, he insisted that we hadn’t yet been charged. Wrong. A quick check on my phone showed that my credit card was charged approximately $ 600 for the 5 nights we planned on staying there. We quickly left for the Embassy Suites in Oxnard. This place was gigantic, really nice, and extremely accommodating. Even though the pool was closed, the lady let us into the jacuzzi to relax after a long day. Our room was huge, clean, and even had a nice patio. After telling the hotel what happened, they were willing to give the room to us for $ 100 whereas it normally costs $ 300. Go anywhere but Del Playa Inn. Sleep in a parking lot if you have to, you’d probably be more comfortable and it just might be a tad cleaner.
