I’ve been attending Sifu Jesus Flores’ school for 2 years now and I can say he knows his art. He is constantly changing the lesson so you never know what will happen in his class and this keeps things fun and interesting. The classes are filled with students of all ages from all kinds of backgrounds. The techniques taught are close to the way Ed Parker, the founder of American Kenpo intended. Sifu Jesus teaches Kenpo but he also has side classes for grappling and Filipino martial arts(Cali stick fighting). The instructors treat you like family and they are always available to assist you in your training. It feels like a big family when you are there. You can attend classes for your belt and come in on any of the 6 days a week for personal practice in the back of the class. Even though he has assistant instructors, Sifu Jesus likes to personally teach the younger kids so their foundation in Kenpo is solid. Even though karate is a physical sport. Sifu Jesus likes to stress the importance of the mental aspects of Kenpo. Concepts like borrowed force, marriage of gravity, and reverse motion are taught to help students more easily understand any Kenpo technique. Qualities like courage, courtesy, integrity, and respect are taught as well. As an adult, I find his wisdom and knowledge behind the art much more fascinating. Those who come in to learn Kenpo will not only learn how to fight but how to successfully walk away from one. The pricing is more than fair as compared to other karate studios in the area. There is great sense of loyalty in the school as there are many students who willingly volunteer their time to help lower belt students when not in class as part of their personal training. These qualities show why this school has been open for 35 + years and is a testimony to a successful Kenpo Karate program. They have a free 1 week trial so you have nothing to lose. Try them today!
