Inside needs updating and the food on this day was below average. The menu sounds great, however, the chairs and tables have to be from the 80s. I think I can remember a time when the food here was pretty good. Not sure what’s going on now, however, it is a good last minute meal if you don’t have time to cook. So, to my meal. I got the chicken liver and onions, with gravy over mashed potatoes with a side of Collards and a piece of cornbread. The collards lack flavor. So, this is a dish I can really do well and when I go out to get something I can cook and it sucks, I am far from happy. Maybe I should have asked them not to cook it to death. Probably should have asked them not to fry them hard In the old grease from all day. I ended up throwing half of the dish away and never did eat my cornbread. I will not order this again. I’ll stick to my home made version. I usually come for the fried fish at lunch. When cooked fresh it’s definitely good. The one thing that I can say that is extremely good, is the sweet tea and lemonade. You might catch sugar diabetes from the sweet tea and lemonade so if you do an Arnold Palmer you should enjoy it.

He staff here is friendly and helpful. Interior is not Much to speak of but the food was good. The fish was cooked well and lightly battered. The Whiting was better than the trout and the mashed potatoes with the homemade gravy was very good. The Mac n cheese needs a bit more chess for me. But was good nonetheless. It is a buffet so temperatures are hard to control without ruining the food so the temps were up and down. If your looking for an inexpensive place to eat with pleasant and friendly staff stop on.

If you are looking for good soul food in DC there are only a few spots worth checking out. This is one of them. Luckily I heard about this place from one of DC’s finest and no I was not committing any illicit activities. To tell you the truth it should be illegal for the food at Levis to be this good. Am I exaggerating? No. This is a rare find to find food like this here and trust me I am from the South. I ordered the meatloaf with mashed potatoes and collard greens. I was going to do like my friend and just sample some there but I ended up eating the entire meal there. These were no can collards. Someone in the back is cutting them up in the sink and it was so good. I complain about having to sometimes work in DC but this place is not to far from my job and this is one of those perks that come with the job. Best believe I will be back to try their NC bbq next time.

Nothing bad to say about Levi’s. I was made to feel welcome from the time I entered. Staff answered all of my questions and made helpful suggestions on their items. They have a special Monday through Friday where you get a free lunch meal with the purchase of three dinners. There were so many yummy items I wanted to try but I opted for beef short ribs, cabbage and macaroni and cheese. I got my son the carnivore chitterlings, yams and macaroni with cheese. All of the serving sizes are plentiful and required no additional seasoning. If you dine in and get a beverage, refills are free. I had originally went in to get my food to go but I got to talking with the employees, taking pictures of the food and sampling it. Low and behold I ended up eating there and was not disappointed. Located next to a Shoppers grocery store, I had no problem finding parking. The bathrooms were clean, all dining areas were well maintained and food served at proper temperatures. Thanks to their hours, I can get food without worrying about the traffic heading home. Appreciate the warm welcome from the employees; I’ll definitely return and refer other to dine there.

I bought dinners from Levi’s just this past weekend. Absolutely horrible, the greens were gritty, the mac and cheese was tasteless and watery BBQ was horrible, tough and very spicy. the helpings were plenty. I would rather pay for less food and more quality. Levi’s is not what it used to be and I don’t plan on going back

BBQITISNOT! Home cooking on a buffet line it is. Smothered beef short ribs were tough and meatless for $ 13. It got 2 stars because the sides were large and plentiful — macaroni and cheese with collard greens were worth it. Not interested in seconds as any REALBBQ place should sliced beef or brisket. The gravy smothered beef ribs were the only option. Like the other reviews said the BBQ chicken and pork ribs look like they were baked in the oven and sauced.

I was tired of the National Harbor and wanted to try something local. Levi’s BBQ sounded like the ticket. I had the lunch special of liver and onions with mashed potatoes and cabbage for my two sides. Liver was tough, cabbage was mushy, cornbread was dry, tea was extremely sweet, and potatoes were okay. In all fairness it was 3:00 and the lunch special had probably been sitting there for a while. However, for six bucks and some change, the price was pretty fair. I had wanted to try some«North Carolina BBQ» while in Maryland, but Levi’s just didn’t meet my standard of what BBQ should be. The ribs looked like they had been baked in the oven and were smothered in sauce. I will have to satisfy my BBQ craving when I return to TX.

I’m so tired of people saying the food is good, truth is some of the food may be good but not the things I ordered. Greens(not cut up) Mac n cheese tastes like metal and the fried pork chops were ok just dry.

This place was the worst, its taken me a minute to post this, let me forewarn you, if you ever go to this establishment ensure you have all your precious items close at hand(iPhone) or secure in your car… These employees try to steal my daughter’s iPhone(but we were smarter than the average customers). anyways, short story, I had to call the FEDS to get her shit back, and the manager try to cover it up, didn’t do nada about it…

For the love of food don’t do it… Came to the area for a conference, found a bbq place really close by. Let me sum it up in a text conversation that I sent my friend: — not gonna lie I got bbq and it doesn’t smell that good — mac n cheese is EHHH — needs salt — potatoes are okay — and the pulled pork… makes me glad I got cereal as a back up and feel really bad for a dead pig out there that gave it’s life up to make this pork.

Decided to check it out after driving by it so many times. So so food. Had the fried chicken and fried fish. Both were under seasoned. String beans were salty. Mac n cheese was ok. Will not return. I can do a better job at home

Do not waste your time! I ate here about a month ago and it was a waste of time. The fried chicken was dry but still undercooked. The mac and cheese wasn’t good either, it lacked salt and pepper. I think that the reason that the food tastes poorly is due to the lack of seasoning. Maybe they should cut down on the menu options and just perfect a few southern dishes. I will not go back here.

NEVERGOINGBACK! Today was my first time trying Levi’s and I see why I kept driving passed it all these years. Mac n Cheese — No salt or pepper… And the majority of the cheese was the layer on top… Fried Whiting — might have been cooked in the same grease as the other meat(I don’t eat meat, just fish) my stomach instantly turned… Potato salad — Again no salt or pepper and very mushy… Not a good experience and I had the nerve to try dessert… Strawberry cake with strawberry icing: DRY and lacked cake taste! I swear I was eating a cardboard box with nice pink dye… EWWWWW

Levi’s is just ok. This is not the best soul food in the city. If you want some great BBQ go to Johnny boys in District Heights(or it’s Cap Heights) …Johnny boys is soooooooo good. OMG! If you want great fish go down to H st and get some from Horace and Dickies. And lastly, find an older black lady at a black church!!! Befriend her and she’ll not only invite you over on Sundays but she’ll show you how to cook REAL southern goodness. :-)

Umm… YES! This is a great casual BBQ place to pig out and get all the yummy bbq soul food delicious goodness you could think of. From dessert to salty savory dishes. Buffet is so good. We ordered mac and cheese, bbq ribs(EXCELLENT), bbq chicken, spare ribs, potato salad, greens, liver and onions. EVERYTHING was great, if I lived in this area I would be there more often. So its a good thing I don’t, because although the food is great for your taste buds, not so great for your waist line. So if you are dieting, stay away. This place will trap you because everything tastes great here. TIP — If you order 3 dinner plates, you get the 4th one free! Great for big groups. TIP — Try the potato salad! It is a big hit there.

Let me just jump straight to it. The food is good BUT the service is questionable. Which I guess balances out in some strange way. Okay lemme break it down for ya– ((Food)) I ordered the Catfish Platter, which is cooked to order. And I think that’s part of the reason why it was so good, because it hadn’t been sitting out all day long like some of the other stuff. And every morsel of that catfish melted in my mouth. It was perfectly seasoned and perfectly fried. Uh. I’m salivating now all over again. I got the collard greens(yum) and the yams to go with it. The yams are good but a bit too sweet for my liking. The portion sizes are good. I couldn’t finish it all. ((Service)) I went for a late lunch, so I would say about 3, 330. It wasn’t crowded when we got there but like I said I ordered the catfish platter, which is made to order. They told us 9 minutes but it took 20 to 25 minutes for me and my man to get our food. I could’ve cooked the damn catfish myself in that amount of time. Because they were changing shifts or something, they made us pay for our food before we actually got it(which I hate doing cause then I feel like I cant opt out if theres a problem). Then when our food finally got there, we had to stand in the newly crowded line just to get our stuff bagged. So I asked the girl behind the counter if I could bag the stuff myself and she goes«No. I got it. You guys mustve been waiting for a really long time huh? I know you ready to leave» as she moves at a glacial pace. Really? Like for real? –2 stars. Smh. Oh and I don’t know how I feel about the Korean ownership. Personally, it makes it feel a little less authentic. So I will not be a regular. But this place is definitely worth a visit for good soul food. My advice? Get in and get out as quick as possible.
