I grew up in Oyster Bay. I was always excited about the summer because I knew the Bonanza Stand was going to open! They have the best Italian Ice on Long Island and the best Hotdogs also. I never met a person that came to Oyster Bay and didn’t stop here. They have a huge inventory of Ices to choose from. My favorite was the lemon flavor, they put the ice in there little white pouches that you squeeze together to get all the Italian ice out. The hotdogs are also famous in Oyster Bay. When I go for a hotdog I like red onions and cheese on mine. I use to go there as a kid with my friends and get ices or hotdogs, now I take my nieces and nephews there. Nothing in my mind kicks off summer like a trip to the Bonanza stand, I would never forgive you if you took a trip to the North Shore and didn’t grab a Italian Ice!

If you are looking for a true italian ice come here. My personal favorite is the lemon ice. Absolutely refreshing on a hot summers day. The best part, it has real lemon pits in it so you know your getting the good stuff. The hot dogs are also amazing, I keep it simple with a plain dog and even without all the toppings the Bonanza hot dog tasty. If you want to enjoy their food with friends, there are a few tables behind the stand!

This was a place that was great but I recently went with my son for a quick dog. The staff was adding more dogs to the water and I got a glimpse of the packaging. You couldn’t get a cheaper hot dog if you wanted to after Googling it. We got three dogs. They were gross! Soft and mushy meat. The bread was wet from the water they were cooked in. They need to upgrade the quality of hot dog their serving! The ices are still great!

Excellent Italian ices and hot dogs. Get the lemon ice. They’ve been here for more than 100 years. An Oyster Bay institution.

Really cool place to visit during the summer. It’s a smaller little shack with the most unique Italian ices around. This place puts other ice places like Rita’s I shame. I am not sure how they even keep track of all there flavor. All the ices I have tried had totally rocked. Be sure to go with a friend so you can share ices are try more flavors!

Growing up in Oyster Bay there was no greater joy than going to bonanzas with your friends in the summer. I have the same thing every time I go there: a hot dog, bonanza fries, and a strawberry ice(or icy as we used to call them when I was little). It is still to this day my favorite hot dog, fries and Italian ice. I will never not come here… Even walking by when they’re open and not getting anything is a struggle. If you’re in oyster bay during the summer do yourself a favor and have a cheap but delicious lunch.

This place is classic. It’s been here forever for a reason. You can’t go wrong with the lemon and/or cherry ice. The hotdogs are unique and worth a try as well. They’re boiled, for those of you opposed to that, you’ve been warned.

Have been coming here since I can remember — grab a hot dog and sit on the curb. Reminds me of childhood — can’t have a summer without bonanza.

The BEST ices ever! The nachos are also excellent. When my friend is here from CA it is always mandatory that we stop by.

Bonanza innocently sits at an unassuming corner all the way up in the town of Oyster Bay. it is really just a walk up window, but it has a pretty extensive menu. I’ve only had the ices, which are homemade and fantastic. One flavor is more interesting than the next. of course now that everyone is so accustomed to Ralph’s, this may not be so exciting. But Bonanza has been around for a million years and continues to serve the next generation a fabulous product from a 12×12 shack.

Best italian ice ever. I haven’t lived in the area in 15 years and I still think about their ices and hope to get back there at some point.

Hearty place to grab an italian ice, in Oyster bay. Less than 5 mins from the park. Cake batter ice was very good here, and I’m sure everything else is just as good. The small ices are $ 3, and large are $ 3.75.

A classic, small town Oyster Bay staple. Bonanza’s(which locals call by many other nicknames) serves the best Italian ices in town… My recommendations are the cannoli, orange, rainbow, pumpkin(when its in season), cake batter, and lemon. They also have classic boiled hot dogs with fresh sauerkraut and delicious cheese fries.

Most Delicious-Dad It was very good, but seating could be improved –Caitie. The Mango ices were very good. Sour, then sweet, like a tic-tac –Maura. The product w as excellent, especially the Cannoli ice, but seating lacked — Nana. The Cannoli ice was excellent and I liked the antique ice cream maker — Gene

«Who wants ice!!!» was the rallying cry for all the neighbor kids to pile into Mom’s Plymouth Wagon(which sat about 25, including the«big back») and off we’d go to the Bonanza Stand. Literally a shack on the corner just before approaching the LIRR Oyster Bay stop and Teddy Roosevelt Beach. History geeks like me take note: TR’s weekend/summer«White House» Sagamore Hill is nearby as are sites ranging back to the Revolutinary War and Whaling era. Back to the ices: handmade for as long as I can remember(actually since 1900 by Grandpa Bonanza) you could judge spring on Long Island by two markers: the first Robin Red Breast and the Bonanza Stand opening. It was a big deal for all Town of Oyster Bay residents, and LIers for that matter. They used to have just a handful of flavors; I was a purist always going for lemon(pits and all) Mom loved the rich chocolate, piña colada had chunks of pineapple… and it was fluffy. This is very important(fluffy) in the correct preparation of true New York Italan Ice; once hand scooped into a thin paper cup it has a snow quality to it, you squeeze to eat it. Served with a smile by Mr. Phil Bonanza if you were lucky. Now they have dozens of flavors and sugar free offerings, too. Later on, as I grew older, we rode bikes to the beach and grabbed drinks and a hot dog and ice to cool off. Often, they’d hand pack quarts in styrofoam wrapped in tinfoil(don’t judge, we were not eco friendly back then) to put in our coolers for the ride home. It is such a landmark, still run by the Bonanza clan and often comes up in conversations with friends about home. Except now, they are taking their kids for ice, dogs and memories which will last a lifetime. A very worthy stop for any trip to the area. Unilocal 100 Challenge

An Oyster Bay institution, the Bonanza Stand has been here for decades and it has changed almost not at all. I remember stopping in for Italian ices and hot dogs back in the 1980’s, so when was here in OB for a visit I made it a point to stop and check in on this hangout. The lemon ice hasn’t changed a whit. It’s still tart and yummy. A small is plenty. The hot dogs also haven’t changed. Mustard and sauerkraut are still the way to go. A small seating area is behind the stand, or you can take your ice with you to the beach, not far away.
