I’ve frequented this coffee shop fairly often for over 2 years. The people who work there are very friendly. Usually I just get a hot chocolate, but today I decided to get a toasted bagel with cream cheese. After ringing up orders and handling money, the lady who took my order reached over to the toaster, grabbed my bagel with her bare hands, and put cream cheese on it. I can’t imagine how many germs were on her hands from handling customer money. Disgusting! Isn’t that a health code violation? I will not return.

I love this place! John knows my go to lunch order by the sounds of my voice when I call in. Chicken salad sandwich on toasted sourdough with a mocha freeze… sometimes with a double shot. Yum! I teach across the street and this café make me feel right at home. I enjoying chatting with the local senior crowd about everything inappropriate and having an easy conversation with the staff. It’s just what I need to break up my day teaching kids. It’s nice to support and enjoy such a wonderful small business.

Fog City Java is like the Cheers of coffee shops where you walk in and everybody knows your name! My Grandma was a regular(before her passing) and had quite a community-base here. She became friends with a group of other regulars and became one herself about 12 years ago. She was even part of a book club based out of Fog City Java. I am not a coffee drinker, so I can’t be a judge on that aspect, but the tea was decent. It serves more as a hangout for a good group of people, and I like the crowd. The owners have always treated everyone well, and the staff is friendly. I have never had anyone working there who rubbed me the wrong way. I like the consistency and the atmosphere containing good energy.

I come here every morning, it is my home away from home. Love the morning crowd, the coffee is great, and you get free refills. The service is always very good and the food is fresh!

I love coming here having my favorite coffee drinks and reading my books! Great location, great deals and the hours are flexible. There are so many regular customers here and the owners are great. It is so cool that John and the owner know your favorite drinks… This is simply a cool place to hang out without technology dominating the place! Look forward to many more great visits. It will be nice if you add some gluten free pastries!

Great place. Great owners. Great regular customers. When I travel I can’t wait to come home to their coffee. They treat you like family. That means the treat you good but also tease you and give you a hard time.

Certainly not as bad as the Shilo Motel in Idaho Falls

I love this place. I live a couple miles away. I pass by a chain coffee shop to come here and contribute to a locally based business. The staff/owners are always friendly. The prices are fantastic. And the coffee and pastries are great! This place really feels like a neighborhood gem. If you are in Pacifica and haven’t been here, I’d suggest stopping in!

Love the fact that Fog City Java is close to the beach. That fact plus the simple fact they exist at all in their location are some of the few positives about this business. The coffee is only average at best. The croissants appear to be good but the flavor and texture is below average. They do not provide free Internet. They charge for debit card and credit card transactions. Their prices are more than others places. About 20% — 30% more for the same thing. Their hours of operation are comparatively restricted. Positive points include : ONE(1) minute walk from the beach sand. You can see the Ocean if you stand up. Table outside to enjoy the morning sun. Mexicali Mocha is good enough. Quick access to /from Highway 1. While Fog City Java is not the worst place I feel that even the Starbucks on Linda Mar Blvd presents a better value. Even though it is farther from the beach I would visit Beach Monkey Café if I was looking for a quality cup of coffee in a well rounded business. But FCJ is beach local and if your expectations can be managed then Fog City Java may be right for you.

I like this little coffee shop. My only complaint is about the ladies who smoke cigarettes right by the entrance almost every morning. I drive by/walk by this place quite often and I always see the same ladies smoking cigarettes by the open door. I went in the other day with my baby and got a big smell of cigarette smoke as I walked in the door. Big turnoff. Isn’t there some kind of law stating you can’t smoke within so many feet of an entrance to a place that sells food? I don’t know. It makes the business look bad and uninviting. I understand that these ladies might be loyal longtime friendly customers, but that doesn’t give them the right to smoke by the door. It’s inconsiderate. I’m hoping the owner/management sees this review and does something about it. I don’t think they’d want their customers smelling cigarette smoke as they walk in to buy coffee. Sorry to rant on about this, but it really bothers me. I don’t even want to go into this place when I see the ladies smoking. On the positive side, the specialty drinks are really good, the menu is good and the staff is friendly.

I’m so grateful of this deli to exist in Pacifica. It’s a great choice to come here and pick up food when spending a day at the beach, going for a hike at the back of the valley or just for quality food. The Deli is located conveniently next door to Pacifica community center. Park your car and walk to the deli to pick up your yummy eats. I love this place; It’s fed me & my family healthy breakfast &/or lunch when I didn’t have time to prepare food. John is wonderful. He’s memorized each family members drink & immediately prepares them as we walk in. The food is freshly & deliciously prepared and is satisfying for any tummy big or small))

Yum! I was not willing to accept crummy hotel coffee and considered driving to Starbucks, until i founds this little gem. Great coffee, great donuts and pastries, and a friendly local feel. Will surely be hitting this place every morning next time we are in town!

5 stars on food. Our plan was to grab a sandwich before our hike. It was a great chicken salad sandwich! Moist. not too much mayo, flavorful. This place will get our business again. no question (I waited in the car so I cannot comment on service or the resto itself.)

My go-to local coffee place :) I always get their black and white mocha and the owners never forget! They also give me free pastries every now and then — perfect start to the morning, eh? :)

Decent little café in Pacifica. They do bagels and sandwiches, along with an okay selection of tea and coffee. Their hours are super funky(closes at 1:30pm), but things could definitely be more expensive. There’s outside seating for the sunny P-town days, and there’s never too much of a line. It could be worse. You won’t find omelettes and other specialties, like you would at the High Tide a few blocks down, but whatever. Weird crowd, though. Super weird

I can’t say anything nice about this place. I almost didn’t stop when I drove up but I thought I shouldn’t judge a book by it cover and the Unilocal reviews were so good. I almost turned around and walked out when I opened the door. But I still wanted to give it a chance. So ordered my cappuccino and headed to the beach. 2 sips and the cup of swill went into the garbage can. I’ve had a lot of coffee from a lot of places and only ever thrown one of them away before. Make that 2 now. I honestly don’t understand what the appeal of this place is. It wasn’t the environment that’s for sure. It’s like a crappy little business park deli location. And the coffee, well we covered that. The sadest part of this whole experience is that I could have spent my money elsewhere and would probably be enjoying a nice hot cuppa right now instead of starring into my phone when this lovely beach is in front of me.

We love Fog City Java! We’ve made it a regular stopping point on Saturday mornings. Great drinks, best donuts I’ve found in the area so far, and friendly faces.

This place is just what our neighborhood needs — it is a welcome anti Starbucks! The staff are friendly(especially no nonsense owner Lena), they have a great selection of donuts, bagels, and there’s always a friendly hoard of neighbors hanging out for a chat. I always have a coffee, with a wheat bagel and lox on my way to work for only $ 7! My only criticism is that they close early. I think they would make a fortune from the kids and parents coming out of Cabrillo School. Plus it means I have to drink the bitter excuse for ‘coffee’ from Starbucks at the end of the day. Please stay open later!!! We need you Fog City Java!!!
