We were on a tour of Denali and it was halted due to road conditions. On our trip back, all our buses were stopped at the Park Office where we were each asked to fill out a form to have some of our excursion fees refunded to us; we were told a week to 10 days with a refund of $ 85/pp. It has been over 6 weeks. I called Denali NP and received a return call the next day from Wendy Mahalic who said Aramark was the vendor and they were responsible for the refund. She gave me the name of the contact there, Tracy Kulesca. I have called and left her messages THREE times beginning on Sept. 15 and she has not had the courtesy of responding to tell us if sge is working on it or the status.

I have yet to be disappointed by any tour that I’ve taken here. I would recommend the Antelope Boat Tour or Rainbow Bridge, which is hard to get to otherwise…

Let’s talk about Houseboating! AGH! What a mistake. Aramark, the outfit that has the contract for services at the Lodge and Houseboat Rentals is about as bad as I’ve seen. First off, directions on how to get to the marina in their sales material is just flat-out wrong. And, of course, no one at the place they send you to has a clue as to where to send you. Ask one of those nice young gentlemen from Eastern Europe they have working for them and they’ll tell you they don’t know, then you’ll hear them muttering«f**king Americans» as you drive off. Once you finally get to the right place you have to sit around for hours waiting for someone to orientate you to the houseboat. In our case, it was a teenage girl who had never even piloted a house boat. Eventually you get on the boat and are on your way. You pilot your boat 20 miles or so up the lake looking for a place to anchor it ashore, and in doing so promptly get the boat mired in the mud. Need help getting unstuck? They’ll gladly dispatch a «mechanic» to help you out. Eight or nine hours later he’ll show up and pull you out, complaining the entire time about the fact that the people orienting you to the boat should tell you not to try and anchor in this particular area. .. because everybody who comes up there gets stuck in the mud. Oh, and while they don’t tell you this when you call for help. .. that service call from the«mechanic» just cost you an extra $ 170. Then there are the mice on the houseboat. Yep, a rodent infestation. Once my wife saw the mice — it was vacation over. We turned the boat in a day early. No refund for early return, although they did write off the $ 170 service call. $ 2K poorly spent. This might be your idea of a fun vacation. I’d rather camp out at the Marriott.

We took the half day Rainbow Bridge Boat Ride and had a blast. With my parents not speaking English, it was great to see, that they had headphones with different language options(English, French, German, Japanese and another language that I can’t remember right now) available. On top of that, the captain and deckhand were answering all the additional questions, people came up with. When visiting Page, do this boat tour. It’s worth it!

We went on a half day trip to Rainbow Bridge and it was incredibly spectacular. All of the tour guides are very knowledgeable and made the two hour boat ride pass by quickly. Words cannot describe the natural beauty that you encounter along Lake Powell. Rainbow Bridge is the world’s largest natural bridge and seeing it it person is indescribable. You truly have to see it to appreciate its true beauty.
