Highlight of our vacation! He does this because he loves it and you can’t help but feed off his passion for the sport. He is so kind and patient. Heck, he towed us most of the day so we wouldn’t tire out. He offered to loan us his boards and even called and invited us to surf with him another day for FREE! He made my nervous 13 year old niece totally comfortable and got her up 3rd wave. Knew how to teach my cocky 14 year old nephew and he was up first wave! He even got me up at 42! He has great stories and you feel like you’re rollin’ with a rock star. He is SUPER! He was moving back to Oahu, so, look him up!

MUSTDO! If you are in Hawaii do not pass up the opportunity to surf with Rory. There is no time limit when and he keeps groups one on one. If you are with a family he will bring you all out together. When I was there there were three young boys who had booked him in the morning, when I get there at noon, they were having a blast and Rory let them surf with me which these kids parents loved. You will be in the water near other surf schools which will make you instantly realize Rory is the best deal around. Total Hawaiian time, we ran way long, chatted about this and that. Also, he also has boards so if you are in the market hit him up. If you are a good surfer or have dough to spend, get a lightning bolt carved by Rory.

Love this guy! Everytime I visit my family in Kona I am always wanting to go hang with Rory! He’s really nice and not to mention a surfing legend. My aunt knows him through some of her friends. Kona is very small. He lended us some of his foam boards to me and my girlfriend one of the times we were visiting. If you are visiting and want to learn to surf or want to brush up on some of your skills Rory is the man. Just be careful of the reef break! yikes!

If you happen to be in the area and want to take lessons from a surfing legend, Rory is the man to see. Most of Rory’s students said they did it first wave, first try. I can do that one better, every wave, every try is really more like it. Now I am a snowboarder from Colorado and maybe I have a slight advantage to my skier boyfriend but even he caught on very quickly. We essentially had a private lesson for less money than any other surf school in Kona. Rory really personalized the lesson for us. He even postponed our lesson(which I know sounds like a bad thing). He did so because the waves weren’t good enough that day. One of the other differences is that you lesson isn’t necessarily timed it ends when you are tired and if you come back to the beach on one of the next few days you’re in town and you see his truck, grab a board off of it and jump in! Well worth it, two thumbs up and I can’t wait to go back!
