My favorite restaurant! I wish they had more locations because I’m seriously craving their food since returning home. Everything is vegan and gluten free and completely delicious. Their coconut cream cheese stacker is amazing, their burger is great, their waffle bread appetizer– especially the roasted garlic one, and the cheesy pesto! Their kombucha, juices, and smoothies are great, so is their blended iced coffee… And desserts! Basically anything and everything you get there will be fantastic.

Maka’s food is seriously life changing!!! Try the coconut cream stackers, the salad sampler, and any dessert! also the blended latte(w/brazil nut milk + vanila bean + coconut agave) is OUTSTANDING! This place is so good, these plant based creations so precious, that I(a carniverous dairy consumer) want to move here and be vegan + raw FOREVER. the Golden Goddess juice is incredible and the kombucha flight was a great idea, plenty for two to share. if you’re anywhere on Maui just do yourself a service and GOHERE!

Honestly, one of the BEST vegan restaurants I’ve been to. Excellent customer service and the food is phenomenal! I’ve tried multiple items on the menu and have loved everything!

I travel the world to look for local restaurants serving local food organic, non-gmo, made with love and time. I am so grateful this opened up in my small town in Maui. The quality of food and care that is put into each dish is exceptional. All the desserts are out of this world! My favorite dish on the menu is the Ruben Tempeh sandwich substituted with the coconut slaw salad. The next amazing dish for me is the Coconut Cream Cheese stacker. The restaurant is still new so they are working out some bugs with the staffing I feel. But they’re always trying their best I feel… Enjoy

Awesome grinds, awesome people, did I say awesome grinds? REALLY Awesome. I had a vegan Reuben, cold chai-latte with fresh Brazil nut milk and a smoothie to boot. Also developed a huge crush on the waitress(name withheld;-) who is way too cute for life… but that has nothing to do with the good review. Great music, cool atmosphere, no pretense. Just wish I lived closer so I could eat here regularly.

Definitely my favorite place to eat here on Maui(that’s vegan). I’m a fan of Maui Kombucha but this place is a gem! Amazing flavors! I went with a friend who isn’t much of a vegan fan and he loved the food here as well and we both obsessed over the MATCHALATTE. It’s like a tasty but healthy liquid dessert. My server wasn’t very on top of it and she forgot my latte until the very end of our meal when I reminded her, but I’m glad I decided to still order because it was just amazing. I got the coconut stackers with the seaweed salad and it was perfect. I can’t wait to try everything on their menu. Wish they had kama’aina though.

I’ve become less and less enamored … food is expensive and service seems to miss more than it hits. Seems much more preferable to get food at the hot bar @ Mana’s than to wait more than 20 minutes to order and then another 20 minutes for the food to come out. The last time I was there a customer had his leg hanging off his table while he talked so importantly on his cell phone and the staff didn’t seem to notice or care — it was unappetizing.

Solid tasty food albeit a wee pricey in terms of portion size. But I should probably eat less anyways :-) should being operative word… However I always enjoy the food and the staff are great. particularly the awesome server who accidentally dropped a pie slice at my table… by accident ha ha ha :-) much mahalo my friends & keep n on preparing that food with your kindness!

Delicious fresh preparations. Good portions & reasonable prices. Loved the vegan salad with house-made kimchee & brown rice. Very filling. For kombucha lovers, there is a tasting round to try multiple flavors of locally made kombucha. Going back soon, maybe for dinner

The burger was amazing and so was the kambucha! This place is absolutely amazing. The service was great and even my healthy meat eating friend enjoyed it! In such a nice refreshing town! If I lived in Maui this would be the place.

I’m from Berkeley, and I have Celiac disease, so I like me some good raw/vegan joints because they usually have decent food that I’ve never even thought of and I like to try new things in new Hippie towns I find on Islands. That being said, the food was so-so. I opted for the salad sampler, because it was really humid and the other things they had on the menu looked too heavy(corn, lentils, veggie patties and such) but I wasn’t really looking for a full meal. Each salad was presented as a scoop on top of some greens. Presentation was nice, but the salads were meh. One was pickles, another was beats, and the last was cucumber but not pickled. They all tasted somewhat similar. Not impressed. The beets were shoe string making it difficult to eat without getting the dressing all over your face. The Sriracha Gazpacho was good. Refreshing for the humidity. One thing on service though. Look guys behind the counter, I understand that you work and most likely live in Paia– so I get it– a little hippie, a little hipster, you all work there because it’s healthy for you, you guys might be surfers or climbers or pilates masters or yogi’s… that doesn’t excuse you congregating at the juicing station, making a bunch of juice, putting it in shot glasses, and cheering each other several times throughout the 30 minutes I was sitting at your bar, and not offer me one sample or include YOURCUSTOMER in the juicing celebrations you all must participate in on a daily basis. Also, please don’t spray cleaning solution on your raw station and clean while I’m eating my food at the counter right next to you. The fumes dude. Not cool! Give it a try but keep your expectations on service low.

Great place in the vegan-friendly town of Paia. All vegan and plenty of raw options. I would have given this place 5 stars if they had turned on the air conditioning. We made the trip over to Paia three times(from Wailea) for this food. The burger and Reuben were outstanding as was the side kale salad(salad alone worth the trip) — among the best vegan food we have had — including that at Vedge in Philadelphia. It was so hot during the first 2 visits that we could not stand to stay for dessert despite the general lack of other vegan dessert options on the island. On our last visit, we had planned to get the waffles n’ ice cream for the dessert but learned that unlike the menu suggests, the ice cream is flavored with the flavor of the day, and we opted out of the fruit-flavored ice cream since we were looking forward to having the waffle pieces with chocolate sauce. Fruity ice cream did not sound good. On our third visit, they were out of key ingredients for entrees so my spouse had a delicious kale Caesar salad with tempeh, and I had the Pecan Dream smoothie which was not better than something I could make at home in my Vitamix — which would actually make a smoother smoothie. The Big Wave kombucha was the best kombucha that I have ever had. Period. Try it even if you haven’t acquired the taste for kombucha. I recommend the flight. Service was variable across the 3 visits but was consistent with the relaxed atmosphere. Given the temperature, I suggest that you make your plans to hit Maka after sunset.

A little more of heaven in heaven: One of the best restaurants on the planet! Organic through and through, right down to the spices. The owners of Mana Foods have created yet another gem for the local community and for visitors to Maui. Incredibly friendly staff, all glowing with radiant health. The food is beautifully displayed and looks like living art. Fresh organic juices and Kombucha on tap. Our favorites so far are the Salad Sampler, Kale Keasar, Kiawe Chili and the Coconut Cream Cheese Stacker. Their daily selection of Coconut Kefir Ice Cream is full of probiotics and a delicious way to complete a meal. I can’t say enough about Maka. It’s definitely worth a visit, and, once you get here and taste the food, you’ll definitely want to return.

Great vegan(both raw & cooked) restaurant at the far end of Pa’ia. As good as, or better than, anything in LA. There’s a large(free) parking lot right across the street. This place is owned by the same people who own the wonderful Mana grocery store a block down the street. Their only real competitor on the island is Choice in Lahaina, but that’s predominantly a breakfast bowl shop and this is predominantly a lunch/dinner spot. We tried… salad sampler(raw) — 5 stars. All three were wonderful. za’atah hummus wrap(raw) — 4 stars. Good, but not as good as the rest of the meal. «burger» — 5 stars. The«bun» was great. chocolate durian pie — 5 stars. Tasted a bit like a key-lime pie. chocolate bars — 5 stars. The smoked banana chocolate bar was especially good. Soups aren’t ready until noon. Chili isn’t ready until 4pm. :( The best part the food is nearly free. Normally, Maui is 30% more expensive for everything, but here it was 30% less. This place convinced me that we need to stay in up-country on our next visit. Well, for part of it at least.

We NEED this restaurant in Los Angeles!!! Please! The BEST raw food I have ever had and for an exceptional cost. We came in a large group(18 people), and EVERYONE is in love. Not a single person unsatisfied. The service, location, food and everything was perfect. Here’s what everyone ordered(pictures below): Salad Sampler & Kimchi as starters We all tried the Kombuchas(on tap) and they were Za’atar Roll(my dish — obviously I loved it!) Redemptiom Wrap Teri-Coco Sandwhich Coconut Cream Cheese Stacker Twisted Beet Salad Soup of the Day: Kelp Noodle Soup Waffle with ice cream dessert I truly wish we had this in LA. It would do very well.

In Paia, just 5 miles away out from Makawao, this was the first restaurant we passed by and the words Maka — Living Cuisine caught my eye. A sign across the street said parking for the place. We drove in. The menu at the door sounded good. The place is spiffy clean with wood furnishings and a brightness you can feel. Large art pieces feel gallery-like. The place boasts of a healthy organic living fresh lifestyle and the menu states that some food items are heated above 118 degrees. I had the waiter recommended Maka Plate. Kale tossed in tahini, tempeh, pickled purple cabbage(not quite the kim chee as I know it), with a scoop of jasmine rice hidden in the middle. It was fresh, light, tasty, and I felt good eating it. Finished only half. The cold butternut squash soup was a perfect accompaniment to the Maka Plate on the hot day. I tasted turmeric, and a medley of spices that kept my lips wanting to clean the spoon after every serving. My children had the dragon fruit lavender smoothie and the homemade strawberry crème ice cream on waffle. The smoothie was so pleasing to the palate. It was a smoothie experience. The waffle surprisingly was a soft offering(much to my daughter’s dismay as she likes the crunchy variety). The ice cream was covered in a chocolate shell and decorated with inedible umbrella and orchid decoration. Our waiter returned with a complimentary living raspberry crème pie. My favorite part of this sweet/tart confection was its crunchy crust which, tasted of dates, walnuts, sesame and cinnamon. Even our water tasted filtered. A must try for any fresh food experience foodie.

Interesting new restaurant in upper Paia by Mana Foods. There are gluten free foods and delicious smoothies that invigorate and energize! Tried the durian gluten-free cake; interesting taste, but don’t think I’d buy it! In a bright, natural and airy décor with a beautiful natural tree plank bar-impressive!

Soooo good! Was surprised with the interior. One of the nicest looking raw food place. Set up is more of a restaurant than a café. There food options are great. Price point is also very reasonable considering the quality of the food. We ordered the house burger and the Za’atar roll. They both came with a side of their kale caesar. It was both soo soo delicious. Their dessert option looks amazing also. But we opted for the acai bowl to go as a treat on the road. We r both full tho from just the two main course! Def would want to come back to this place!
