Holiday Inn Express Corning – Painted Post

I was here on a quick overnight, so I didn’t get the full experience of the hotel. However, what I did see I liked!
I did late check in with no issues. The WiFi password was written on my check in envelope.
The room was clean, comfortable and nicely laid out. A little strange that the coffee maker was in the bathroom, but I was alone, so no biggie.
Side note: the pillow cases are labeled firm and soft to make picking one (or two) easy!

The Holiday Inn Express Corning — Painted Post is located less that several minutes from downtown Corning. As such, it is very close to the finish line of the Wineglass Marathon.
Unfortunately, it is one of several hotels in the Corning, NY area that takes advantage of those runners that are participating. They have significantly increased the prices of their rooms for the weekend, and they will not allow a one-​night stay. I spoke with the manager, who would not waiver on this.
For example, if I want to book one King bed on the weekend following Wineglass, their rates are $ 152.64 per night. They allow Saturday check-​in and a one-​night stay. However, if I want to book the same room for Wineglass weekend, I can only get a room if I’m willing to stay two nights — at $ 189.00 per night.
I get that supply and demand will dictate the price of the room, but there’s really no reason to require the two-​night minimum — other than to take advantage of runners.
I’ve stayed at this hotel in the past and it’s nice enough — it’s clean and has a nice breakfast. I will be avoiding it in the future because of their policy.

I stayed here for a couple of nights in March 2015. The lobby and my room were both very clean. The TV in the room was bigger than expected; also had a mini-​fridge which was convenient. While I had to drive to Corning (5 minutes away) for an event, this hotel isn’t too far off the path and I would return again if I wasn’t able to stay in Corning itself. The breakfast was simple but fine: cold cereal, oatmeal, coffee/​juice/​milk, scrambled eggs, biscuits, sausage patties, fruit. Check-​in and check-​out was quick. They have an indoor pool which looked clean — I did not use it. Denny’s and a 7 – 11 convenient store just outside the hotel. No problems returning here.

This HIE is clean with friendly staff. It’s best to ask to be on the parking lot side if mild road noise bothers you. It wasn’t loud, even with trucks but you could still hear it. Didn’t bother us but just warning you.
Pool is nice as is the little workout room. Nice location and easy to get to.
What else can one say but this location is a reasonably managed HIE and we enjoyed our stay.
