Best donuts around. They stuff the filled donuts till they almost burst when you bite into them.

I’m not a huge donut person, but these are definitely the best donuts I’ve ever had. Less than a dollar each. My favorite was the German chocolate.

If you’re solely looking for great donuts, I’d highly recommend this place. Everything is supposedly baked fresh everyday. They have a great variety of donuts with unique flavors and combinations. The coffee and tea, however, are generic and taste too diluted for me(someone who likes a darker roast). The only concern I have is that one of the workers, who I think is the owner, an older lady, was talking with her senior citizen customers and were talking about highly inappropriate things that should not be discussed in public. Professionalism needs to be maintained no matter how good your donuts may be.

Great donuts when you are craving them. I love their boston cream donuts here, they are delicious. Whenever my family’s donut craving hits this is the place we go to.

This is one of the originals! Spunky Dunkers makes the best donuts! The service is great-lots of staff who are all really happy folks. This is a great place to buy your am coffee and cake donut, to a dozen for some lucky co-workers, and why not serve for a party? They are so fresh and tasty. You can always find good quality here.

Nothing fancy — simply just fresh, fluffy, and delicious donuts! Toasted coconut is my personal favorite, but you really can’t go wrong with any of their donuts!

This is by FAR the best donuts I’ve had. I have tried many of their donuts and they’re all made fresh that day and are well worth the calories! The staff and owner are all very friendly and even though there always a line in the morning it goes quick as they all work together to get orders placed. Love it. I go here often. I just noticed there is another location off i think it was Arlington Heights road and Dundee and I hope to try this location as well on those days I have to drive a different way to work.

More please! This is heaven in a box. I had coffee which was excellent and the honey dipped donut and toasted coconut donut. They were so good. This place has the freshest and highest quality products. I went back again and had the apple filled … A MUST! My favorite by far.

No $ 2.50 donuts here… just delicious tasty morsels of fried goodness. Who needs a foi grois infused miso glazed pastry from the city when you have the best buttermilk donut in history at Spunkys…

STILL my favorite doughnut shop. I’m still stopping by more than I should. I’d drive there now if I didn’t have to work at 9. :D And I’m still a chocolate crème puff girl.

I could get anything from here for my sweet tooth. I crave their donuts! I also love that they have a flavor of the month or season. And perfectly priced for what you get :) im moving further away, but I will definitely drive back for this place.

This is the best of Palatine. Not the just the best restaurant; the best of all. These donuts are easily the best I have ever eaten in my life, and I have eaten a lot of donuts. The monthly specials bring me in but the their tried and true selections are what I crave. I would love to tell you my favorites, but then you all will eat them and then I won’t have any. Ok. I love the lemon filled and lemon drops. There is another SD in Arlington Heights, but really it can’t compare to the original. Sit at the counter, have some donuts. Enjoy what is one of the best pleasures in this town.

While I have never been in to Spunky Dunkers I have devoured quite a few of their donuts over the years when kind coworkers who live near this place bring them in to the office. I would say they are the 2nd best donuts in the NW Burbs(Country Donuts in Elgin & Crystal Lake are #1 in my book). They have a big variety to choose from based on the assortments my coworkers have brought in. And the donut-highlight of the year for us at work is Paczki Day, aka Fat Tuesday to you folks who are not fortunate enough to live in an area with a large Polish population. A paczki(pronounced poonch-key) is a Polish-style filled donut, similar to a jelly donut but 10x better, imho. Spunky Dunkers has a large variety of fillings to choose from for the paczkis which are available special order ahead of time. They have paczkis available to purchase when you walk-in on that day but if you want a large quantity then you’ll want to place your order at least a few days ahead of time.

Donuts are one of my guilty pleasures. Since I was a kid watching my beloved animé pal, Homer Simpson suck down donuts like tic tacs, I have considered donuts to be one of the best food creations ever invented and one that I reward myself with on occasion. And coming from Texas, where there is a donut shop every 20 feet, a small part of me died when I noticed only a few independent donuterias(yeah, I just made that up) besides Dunkin’ Donuts in Illinois. It was a grim future for the donut-loving fatty inside of me until my friend walked into the room with a dozen donuts from Spunky Dunker at 9:00 pm. Not sure if it was my imagination or not but when she presented the opened box, I’m pretty sure I saw a bright, golden light shining from the bottom. They were all there: sprinkle, cake, creamed-filled, powdered, chocolate, fritters, and glazed. My favorite is always the blueberry cake donuts so I hurriedly grabbed one along with a Boston cream like a food hoarder and carefully placed it in a Ziploc bag for my breakfast the following morning. Very long story short, it was amazingly delicious and fresh when I ate it several hours later. The blueberry cake was delectable as it should be and the Boston cream was rich and also highly recommended. And who doesn’t love a 24-hour donut shop? #Donuteria!

Would be nice if they brewed good coffee… and actually used good beans such as Dark Matter roaster or I Have a Bean roaster in Wheaton to go along with these great donuts. Right now their coffee tastes like dirt mixed with water. God forbid if they do change they do not pick Metropolis, Intelligensia, or Starbucks… those are not good beans. Why have great donuts, and bad coffee? So typical. The two should be high quality as they compliment each other!

YUM! just as good as the other location but i feel like this one always has a better selection. Cons — no ice cream and all the extra jazz like the other location, therefor no ice cream for chunky spunkies Pros — open 24 motha fuckin hours!

Been to the AH store a few times, this was my first visit to the original SD and it did not disappoint. Picked up a few different kinds to take home. Tried the lemon drop pastries and they were excellent — tons of lemony flavor. Only downside was something that seems to be common across most donut places. The people packing them for you don’t seem to realize that most things with frosting will lose that frosting if they are packed on to of each other or too close to the container or wax paper used to pack them. My chocolate frosted donuts were good, but I’m thankful I wasn’t taking them anywhere to share them with others as they were kinda messed up by the time I arrived home. Place was busy — but they were pretty orderly and the line moved at a reasonable pace.

Without a doubt, the best donuts I’ve eaten in my life! Definitely worth checking if you’re in the Chicago area. I went around 1pm and many kinds were already out because they sell quick, but there was still much variety left. Excellent price and you can see that they’re made fresh. A little young boy was handling the register and he was extremely kind. Will definitely be visiting back as soon as I hit up Chicago again!

When you’re in a faraway land(in my case, that meant Lake Zurich), the golden rule is always check your bookmarks to see what else is nearby. That’s how I ended up at Spunky Dunker with Dominic P. and Ericka A. after a recent Unilocal event. For you late night party people, Spunky Dunker is open 24⁄7. We came in here around 10:00 p.m. and there were still plenty to choose from. Our mighty dozen(hey, it was two bucks off with a check-in, so why not?) included a chocolate buttercream, red velvet, cinnamon, honey dip, German chocolate, French, chocolate puff, strawberry iced, Bavarian cream, and god knows what else… The red velvet and German chocolate were my top picks as we loaded up the box, but neither were great. The donuts were on the dry side and lacked much flavor. I liked the toasted coconut on the German chocolate, but the chocolate donut was disappointing. The cinnamon donut, strongly recommended by Ericka A., ended up being my favorite one of the bunch! The donut was a good consistency, not dry like the others, and the cinnamon coating was so good! There isn’t anything cutting edge about Spunky Dunker; I like the traditional donut varieties and diner setting, but the donuts were only so-so.
