Strangely Japanese-Korean mix. I got the fried croaker and my boyfriend got… well, we don’t really know. The croaker was good, wish it was a bit crispier but it’s relatively standard. The banchan is delicious and they offer a great variety of starters. It also came with tofu soup and although I asked for no-spicy, it came medium-spicy but not a big deal since I can handle it. I just wanted something mild that day. Agedashi Tofu: med-soft tofu but not as crispy as I would have liked. The sauce is a bit too salty than normal Agedashi sauce but it was nice and savory. Boyfriend’s hot-pot. UMMM… It was on the specials flyer. In the picture it looked like tofu soup but when it came, it was this green, puke looking stone-pot. All veggies with jungle fern and peppercorns and spinach and other dark green veggies stewed together so that the broth was a greyish-green. It was strongly scented but not a terrible taste. We just didn’t expect it since the menu arrow clearly pointed at a red-soup. The waitstaff barely speaks english so I believe this was the cause of the mix-up and they kept thinking I was Korean so maybe they thought I knew what I was ordering. Waitstaff knew we weren’t too excited to eat this so they kept insisting of the apparent health-benefits of it. We felt bad so we didn’t return it and boyfriend needs to eat more veg anyways. He didn’t get through it but it was hilarious.

came here for pratically every meal for a week during the aftermath of superstorm sandy — in addition to the good food, my family was able to warm up and recharge our phones! and we didn’t get sick of it!(which is actually quite surprising) good food. reasonable prices. ok service. but that experience was all in the wake of the aftermath of the storm — so i can only imagine that when they’re fully up and running, it would be that much better. didn’t try the sushi/sashimi but i hear it’s supposed to be good. let’s see what did we eat? dduk kalbi — good! portion is a little small for the price, but it was yummy!(and i usually am not a fan of this dish) grilled eel — not bad. we had the garlic/salt and the spicy seasoned one. preferred garlic/salt. did not compare to my favorite grilled eel restaurant in korea, but that would have been expecting too much. gopchang jungol — i hate gopchang. but the soup was good and the udon noodles were delicious. kalbi woogujigook — had this one time for breakfast. nothing special, but was filling/satisfying. bulgogi gopdol — was not a fan. should have gotten the seafood gopdol, but i am not a big shellfish person, so i went with this — just bulgogi over rice in a hotpot — not worth the money. fish + soondooboo combo — good standard fare. soondooboo was basically just tons of soft tofu with some mushrooms. simple but was good. kimchijigae — yum. lots of pork too. like. budaejjigae — ok. was like the kimchijigae minus lots of pork, plus sausage. didn’t have ramen noodles. wouldn’t order this again here(because i’d rather get the kimchijigae instead, and if i wanted budaejjigae, i’d go somewhere else) hm. there were lots of other things we tried/ate but i can’t remember right now as i’m writing this. good variety of banchan — fresh and yummy — didn’t really vary the offerings over the course of the week. not sure what people are saying when they say this is the worst korean food they’ve ever had but family consensus after daily dining for a week was that it was good and has become our current go-to place. would like to try the sushi/sashimi and the donkatsu(thought it was weird they have it here, but it looks huge and tasty) we finally got power back but we’ll be returning again soon!

Came here for a low-key Sunday night dinner and we enjoyed: –kalbi + soondoobu combo; and –daegu maeun tang(spicy cod-soup) The banchan were pretty varied and really fresh: all the kimchi tasted different from each other(can’t say that about all Korean restaurants in Palisades Park…), and nothing really tasted like MSG. There was also a nice salad with varied greens apart from the usual chopped lettuce/saengchu. The daegu maeuntang was savory, spicy, and refreshing(plenty of cod, radish, firm tofu, and watercress — YUM). The kalbi was pretty good for the price — the beef was fresh, and not overly marinated(though a little dry and not as good as SoMoonNanJip a few blocks down). The soondoobu that came with the combo was pretty basic(no veggies, meat/seafood, or egg — basically soup and tofu) but was yummy as well. The service was a little slow at times, but always nice and friendly. Will definitely be back!

I can honestly say this is the worst Korean food I’ve ever had at a restaurant. We ordered various seafood dishes which I was told was their specialty: haemul junjol, agu jim, kalchi etc. The seafood was not fresh and despite lots of MSG, there was no flavor. The kalbi was bland and burnt but at least was somewhat edible though we didn’t finish that either. We told our waitress how bad the food was since she asked why we weren’t eating.

Food is terrible! Don’t go here! Was in the mood for sashimi and good Korean food. This is not the place. We ordered the sliced sashimi(mo-dum) course for 2(59.99), kalbi tang soup, and dolsut bibim bap with octopus. The sliced sashimi was pathetic! We could have had better sashimi quality at an inexpensive china buffet buffet lunch for 9.99. There were only 3 – 4 very thin slices(could have been 1 – 2 regular sliced) of about 4 sashimi that were not fresh, 3 thin pieces of overcooked octopus and dry salty cooked mackerel type fish roe. On top of that, it was supposed to be a multi course meal with a variety of fish side dishes. This was not the case. The kalbi tang was the worst I’ve seen at any Korean restaurant. There was so much fat and so little meat. The best entrée was the dolsut bibim bap with octopus. Don’t go here if you want quality Korean food!!!

Came here on a Friday night with some friends and ordered the hwae(fish) special(A). It was like a 12 course meal! Everything that came out was delicious and the sashimi was fresh. The service was very good and the restaurant is BYOB!
