I just don’t get it. Not at all. How is this place packed on a Monday night with the food quality they have? I was recommended by a very close friend that this was THE place to go in Palm Beach. I think the patrons of this place have been breathing the pesticides used on this island for too long… Lobster WAY overcooked and chewy. Sole fish had zero flavor an a confusing presentation… The only thing we enjoyed was the Foie Gras — which was decent. We should have stayed at Echo where the drink and food quality was far superior… Our bad, next time we are there — we know where not to go.

Chef/owner Jean Pierre and his wife Nicole run a fantastic restaurant. Having experienced some of the finest restaurants that New York City has to offer, this Palm Beach institution offers the same quality of food at a reasonable cost. The service was prompt and as friendly as one could imagine, and the owner extremely gracious. For appetizers I had fresh oysters and my date enjoyed a sumptuous Caesar salad. We dined on a tender beef short rib that slid off the bone, a veal chop that was deliciously crispy on the outside with a moist and tender center. For dessert we shared an apple tart with homemade vanilla ice cream and caramel sauce. Absolutely delicious — we will be back again!

Amazing! We stumbled upon this gem and knew it was something special when we walked to our table. It looked like a set from a movie scene — local patrons dressed impeccably. Comfortable surroundings — reminiscent of Paris. Fabulous five star service. The food was incredible and the staff was friendly and made our night remarkable!(GM –David, server– Michael, Somm — Hiew) We recommend the perfectly browned and seasoned scallops, lobster ravioli, tomato tartare, beef tartare, fois gras was excellent, French fries–(I think they flew them in from the Marais). Go here.

Outstanding food great wines. Very poor attitude from the hosts and servers. For the money I spent, I expect better respect and service. Meant more and better food places nearby

The finest French bistro food in Palm Beach. If you are into traditional French food in an upscale(but not overly fancy) restaurant, look no further. My friend says its«French comfort food», and maybe so, so bring it on ! Not the fanciest dinning room, nor the most expensive tabs, but a place for the real Francophile ! Bön appetite

The place to eat in the island, wonderful authentic French fare, and a great wine list to go with it.

I have been looking forward to this meal for weeks, so disappointed. The last time we were here it was amazingly delicious, tonight it was mediocre eat best. I had the Dover sole, it was tasty but the presentation was terrible. My husband had the coq co vin it tasted old and burnt, the chicken was dry and tasteless. The escargot was excellent, I must say. The service was nothing special, not bad, not good. Dessert was chocolate mousse cake and it was very good, however, the coffee was terrible, like water. Very disappointed.

I eaten here several times but this is my first review. Having lived in Manhattan for 10 years and visited both Italy and Paris on many occasions, I’ve become somewhat of a food snob. This Bistro is expensive but delivers some of the best food in the world. The dover sole was equal or better than two of my favorite Paris restaurants, the short ribs and duck are the best anywhere, at any price. My wife usually orders rack of lamb at fine dining restaurants but this was her favorite. The smoked salmon appetizer elevated this common dish to a new level. I wish they had bagels! Do not miss the tomato tartare, with so much flavor and texture it competes with steak. The bread is so crispy and fresh, we had to keep reminding ourselves to save room for the amazing desserts.

I don’t know if I’d pay to come back here, but it was one of the best meals I’ve had in a long while: Asparagus salad, fliet, a desert sampler. All amazing. yes, it’s a bit dark inside and most of the people I saw eating might have been double my 30s age, but the food and service were amazing. We had a group of 15 people, and they treated us like royalty!

My husband and I had looked forward to trying this restaurant for some time. Having read such rave reviews, we were very surprised that it fell so short of our expectations. The dinner cost us over $ 200, and honestly, we just didn’t feel like it was at all worth it. My appetizer, the escargot, was just ok — it came with a puffed pastry and a mushroom cream sauce; a bit odd, considering the traditional French presentation is a garlic and oil sauce. My husband ordered the French onion soup, which tasted very strange. It seemed to have a tomato base(not exactly sure what it was, but it was most definitely not a beef broth base, as you would expect from a typical FO soup). For our entrees, we ordered the rack of lamb and the braised short ribs. My lamb was the best part of the meal — cooked to a perfect medium and quite flavorful. I didn’t enjoy the beans that accompanied it, nor did I like the au gratin potatoes, which were just not cheesy enough. My husband’s short ribs were not good. The sauce was very watery, and the meat itself was way too chewy and fatty. Finally, we were hoping they would redeem themselves with dessert, but that too was a disappointment. We ordered the cheesecake and it just tasted as if someone had dumped a container of Philadelphia into a graham cracker. I love cheesecake, but this just tasted like eating spoonfuls of cream cheese – not good. I should point out that the service was polite and friendly. We were seated promptly and our waiter was very nice. Having said this, I wouldn’t recommend this restaurant for this type of money, especially when there are so many other wonderful places to eat on Palm Beach.

A fantastic birthday celebration was had here. They seated us in a nice corner booth looking out of the restaurant. As the restaurant became more packed, they continued to seat people far from us until they were finally full — by that time, we had finished dessert! Great staff and décor — and the food was absolutely amazing — every dish! — Caesar salad — French onion soup — New York strip cooked to perfection — Sea bass

This place keeps it simple with few spices, unsalted butter, and sane portions. Their style relies on quality ingredients. I am not sure exactly how they did it– the sea bass was the best I tried anywhere. The outside was lightly browned and crunchy with the inside having a buttery sea bass taste. I don’t think they added butter, they only brought out that taste from the fish. The whole presentation was a work of art. The sides were rice with purée vegetables arranged with carefulness and a pastry bag. I want to try their coffee but for me that is AM-only. I shed a tear knowing they could offer a world class breakfast but they will never be open for breakfast.

…Service was blasé and uninterested, to say the least. While cutlery and water was replenished appropriately, every request or question to our server seemed like a huge imposition(i.e. asking what kind of vegetables were in the soup was answered by a sigh and«all of them»). But really, looking around, should I have expected anything else? Cocktails were a disappointment, mainly because I didn’t have one. I asked for a cocktail menu, but they didn’t offer a menu and I feared asking if they could make this or that would just result in another round of sighs. Alas, I digressed and went for the wine. Going with our server’s recommendation for something more floral, I ended up with a Sauvignon Blanc(probably my least favourite white variety, generally speaking). Thankfully, both of us ended up enjoying our choices. Foodwise, the menu is large, simple and old school. I wasn’t as much excited by the appetizer options which was populated predominantly by simple salads that I can make easily at home, but the main courses were all really enticing. We ended up going with: Feuillete of Escargots with Shiitake Mushrooms, Garlic Cream Sauce, in a Puff Pastry This was cooked exceptionally well, and the puff pastry was a luxurious touch(as if escargot in a cream sauce wasn’t luxurious enough). My only quibble was that I found the sauce a touch underseasoned, but otherwise a delicious dish. Pureed Vegetable Soup This was just okay, but like I said, I wasn’t very excited by the appetizer menu, so I figured I would play it safe. Again, I felt it was underseasoned, and was screaming for some sort of garnish to take it from cafeteria food to high end bistro. Also, way too big of a portion. I would have to be incredibly hungry to finish this boat of soup while in anticipation of our main meal. Fresh Artichoke with Vinaigrette Very old school, simple and delicious but we both agreed it would have been much better had it been served warm. Beef Short Ribs with Bourguignon Sauce and Mashed Potatoes Massive portion, and very rich. The meat was impossibly tender and seasoned well, I just felt the sauce could have used a touch more acid as there was still a bit of the raw wine flavour lingering. The mashed potatoes were basic, and smooth, but cold, which was a stark contrast to the steaming hot beef. Cheesecake with Black Cherry Sauce Probably one of the richest cheesecakes I have ever tasted. It lacked the mild tart flavour that I love in a traditional NY style, but wasn’t light and fluffy like some Italian(ie. ricotta) versions. Certainly too much rich creaminess for one person, but delicious none the less. I was particularly grateful for the cherries to cut through some of that richness, I only wished I had more of them!

Not going to write a detailed review. Will just write what we ate. Me: lobster risotto; snapper; chocolate mousse cake. Both the risotto and snapper were best I’ve ever had(really). My boyfriend: duck liver pâté; calves liver; profiteroles(a. He really likes liver. b. says it was all delicious). Take a walk from the breakers and give this place a try.

I was a guest in a large group — we all had the same meal with wine pairing. I thought that given the size of our group(about 30) the restaurant did an amazing job serving us all at once with relatively complex fare. Our meal was 4 courses — of which the dessert was really the stand out. Each course was paired expertly with wine, the sommelier explained the wine and the reason for the pairing. The pours were generous but not overly so. I would highly recommend this for a larger group folks who truly appreciate traditional fine french cuisine and wine pairing.

The real thing, and just about the best restaurant in Palm Beach. Food quality is amazing and you will not have a bad meal, although surprisingly service can be spotty. However, all is forgiven the moment your dishes begin to it the table. No blue haired old ladies here… your dining companions are captains of industry and their wives — or their secretaries working late. In any event, take in the art work, the ambiance and the food, this is Palm Beach darling and it’s as good as it gets.

Folks, this is a spectacular place. Very attentive, great drinks — done exactly as you ordered — and awesome food. After driving from Miami for a meeting and then an early dinner, we had a very bad experience of not being served at a North Palm Beach restaurant. Immediately called Chez Jean-Pierre for our group of 7 and they offered to accomodate us. The valet parking is very attentive, we were warmly welcomed at the door and Thomas did a great job in taking care of our table. The Sea Bass was very tasty and the perfect texture. The fresh oysters are very tasty and truly fresh. The osso buco was very nicely done. My wife had the escargots that had nothing to envy from Paris or Montréal… My son had an awesome crunchy and juicy duck very flavorful… My friend had some very nice finger-licking short ribs and wonderful lobster raviolis. Yes, its a bit in the expensive side, but life is to short to go to mediocre places. This is it; no attitude, just great attentive service and awesome food. Thanks Chez Jean-Pierre for saving our evening. We will be back!

I showed up at Chez Jean-Pierre 9pm, the restaurant was emptying out and one table was left by the time I was done eating. The art on the wall seemed dated and odd but I enjoy the funky look too. I had a booth seat that made me feel like I was in France, and I got a view of the back patio where there’s orchids growing in the boxes on the wall, I see thats also where the smokers area is . The waiters seemed rude and as if it was a chore to wait on us. Even though i spoke to her in French she couldn’t care less. I know that’s the French way so Im okay with it and adds authenticity. Great wine list, a great Bordeaux to compliment the Prime Beef Tenderloin with pepper sauce. It melts in your mouth! I got to try the Dover Sole Meuniere and was JEALOUS soo amazing! They really know food here. Im impressed and happy :)

I had high hope for this little quaint bistro, but was not impressed of the caliber of restaurant. My mussels were overcooked and too chewy. I had to ask for water several times. It was very warm inside and that coupled with the red wine, made me very thirsty for ice water. I do drink a lot of water, but there were about three different wait staff around the table at all times, so I’m not sure why I had to keep asking. There’s a 2 star rating for the first half of my meal. The wine selection was on par, with what I was expecting, at least. Now for the entrees: My dish was ho hum and I can’t even remember the details. The Foie Gras dish with warm apples saved the entire meal for me. Thankfully Brent B was willing to share the lobster fricassee, giving this bistro the 4 star rating. Just because you charge a lot of money and have french food, does not make gourmet. You have to actually care about what you send out and make sure folks are getting what they pay for. For the price, I’d go somewhere else, since I’m, averaging them out at 3 stars.
