Big Wheel Tours

Had to FOLLOW this tour company.
Looked like the tour group ahead of us was having a good time meandering along Box Canyon Road toward the Salton Sea. This road has a good amount of winding sections, double lines and poor visibility, in case you’re one to get impatient and want to pass illegally. I’m NOT one of those people and followed Big Wheel Tours for several miles at 10 – 15 miles per hour while two cars piled up behind me riding my rear end and finally both decided to pass the large biking group illegally. One car even passed me, the Big Wheel Tours van and trailer and spread out biking tour on a large curve! I felt as though Big Wheel Tours could have pulled over for everyone’s safety. My husband desperately needed a bike for his half iron man. We didn’t want to deal with shipping a bike all the way from the midwest so we went looking for a great place to rent from in Palm Desert. Big Wheel Tours definitely fit the bill!
They were easy to coordinate with. Reserving the bike was handled over the phone in the most ridiculously easy way possible. When we arrived to the area to pick up the bike, they picked up the phone quickly and were very attentive when we arrived. As an added bonus, they gave my husband a military discount. He was able to rent a high-​end carbon fiber bike for $ 50 (24 hours). It was such a great bike and my husband really enjoyed using it. The regular rate isn’t bad either, but I can’t remember off the to top of my head what the non-​military rate is.
The drop-​off for the bike was RIDICULOUSLY easy. He met my husband at the triathalon and all we had to do was hand-​off the bike to him (which was included in the price). The man who owns the business was super friendly and helpful. I can’t say enough great things about him.
I’m so glad we rented from here. It was truly the highlight of my husband’s triathalon.
