We came here because they keep advertising the best happy hour. And sure enough, all drinks are $ 5. Well, most of them anyway. But we found that the food is actually pretty good. We ordered the pineapple fried rice, pork lo mein and some chicken something or the other. It was good, not necessarily spectacular. Drinks were well made, I had a gin martini, Bön the mai tai and Josh gin and tonic. Our server was Michelle, she was very nice. Pleasant, courteous and made us laugh. Nice girl. For happy hour, will definitely come back.

The best Chicken fried rice ever! The portions are huge and we found that there are leftovers after splitting a dish. Good service and the atmosphere is elegant and very classy!

Went here for happy hour a couple of weeks ago, with the wife. I’d heard the advertisements on the radio talking about their premium-liquor mixed drinks for $ 5 — and they weren’t lying! Not only were my Tanqueray & Tonics $ 5, but they had some surprisingly decent brews for $ 4. I just had to try a Kirin Light at that price. The wife opted for a straight-up martini, which cost $ 8, but still not a bad deal at all. For food, wifey had the lettuce wraps for $ 8.50, and barely finished them off. I had the cold noodles, and had enough left over for lunch the next day. Actually, the next day, I spiced them up a little and heated them in a frying pan — so good. Speaking of spices, I was a little surprised that no one offered any sauces or anything of the like to turn up the heat on my noodles. I probably could have asked for something, but enjoyed them as they were served just fine. Our server, Gina, was fairly quick/attentive, but she seemed a little apprehensive, like maybe she hadn’t been waiting tables very long. Or maybe it was just a little bit of an off day. Either way, it was a really solid experience, and we’ll definitely be returning.

Decided to give this place a try. We sat in the bar for happy hour. The drinks were a great price for top shelf. We ordered the wonton soup, lettuce wraps and string bean in garlic. Everything was good but very much like PF Changs. If you like that then I would give this place a try.

If you go there before 6, it would be worth your time. After 6, the happy hour food menu goes away BUT the drink happy hour last all night long. BONUS! The dinner’s are very pricey and the portions sizes are not adequate for the amounts of the dinner portions. I ordered a meal, roughly $ 20 and I was hoping to take a bunch home for left overs however, the portions were too small to even satisfy my evening appetite. I found it surprising because even the bartender told us that me and my girlfriend could share a plate, and when our plates came out, we laughed. Not sure what type of diet he thought we were on(being two ladies that like to dress up for our ladies night out) or should be on because there was no sharing or taking home. The happy hour prices are amazing, and the ambiance is classy, so I do enjoy going there if I can get there by 5 p.m.

The food is totally not authentic Chinese at all, but it’s good casual food nevertheless. What made the difference was the great service from waitress Danielle. She was really friendly and really connects. We have a 3 year old son and she understood his needs and asked the right questions. Small things really, but they do add up to the experience.

Based on the reviews, I was expecting so much more. The food was very mediocre, overly sweet and mushy. The noodles were so overcooked that they fell apart while spooning them onto the plate. The owner did apologize for the poor service, saying two waiters called in sick, so I understand why service was so bad [or maybe it’s always that way?]. Still, it’s no excuse for bad food. There seems to be limited seating inside and if you sit on the patio, like we did, you might as well forget anyone checking in on you. Our waiter actually served our dinner without providing utensils, napkins or plates — and walked away! We had to chase someone down just to get a fork and plate all while our food was getting cold on the chilly patio. Based on this experience, I won’t go back.

Average food. Horrible service. Had to ask many times for simple requests. Realize Chinese food on X-Mas is crazy busy but they were horribly understaffed.

This restaurant is nothing about Chinese. I ordered a Mongolian beef taco. It should be spicy and warm but it was sweet and cold. Also the service is so bad. I will never go here again.

My hubby and I wanted to eat at Stuft Pizza and it was crazy busy so we walked into Bobby Mao’s! We were pleasantly surprised that the bar wasn’t busy and the football games were on. We ordered off of the happy hour menu. The chicken sliders were my favorite. The chicken fried rice had a lot of chicken. The chicken wraps were average and the edemame was a bit over cooked. All in all we would go back. Juley the bartender was friendly and attentive even though she was busy. Good find! We’ll be back.

The food was amazing but the service was continuously horrible. Our server was constantly nowhere to be seen and a busser named Mitch was there asking us constantly making sure everything was alright for us. We had pulled the manager aside to compliment him and he seemed to not care and wanted to leave and resume his other tasks as soon as possible. Outstanding food, pricey but good. Do not expect much of service.

We had a very enjoyable lunch here yesterday. Forget the fact that Bobby Mao’s is in a shopping mall. It’s stunning on the inside –a real gorgeous spot that looks like it came from an upscale Manhattan zip code. We did a mix and match for lunch– some items from the Happy Hour menu and one from the regular menu. We went with: a) Honey BBQ Ribs($ 8.50). Very disappointing — 4 small bony ribs for $ 8.50. Happy Hour price and portion size b) Terriyaki Chicken Tacos($ 14. Wonderful — six meaty tacos with an Asian slaw. This was the dinner menu price and portion size. c) Chicken Lettuce Wraps($ 8.50). This dish was a steal ! Five huge lettuce leaves for rolling up a big plateful of ground chicken, water chestnuts, onions and scallions in a terrific sauce. Absolutely terrific. Our server, Juley was a delight. She was friendly and very helpful, telling us about how the same dish varied from menu to menu, and what was the better value. The only other nit pick I had was the cost of my club soda– $ 3 seems a little piggish to me. Lunch for two for $ 36? A little pricey, but the food was mostly outstanding, as was the ambience and service. And we all know that as a famous poet once said«two out of three ain’t bad»

Stopped in for early dinner on the way back from Arizona, based on reviews thought it was going to be amazing, damn we were wrong only way to describe this place is like a really bad pf. Changs. And that’s not saying much, unfriendly rough service and really pricey for what you get can’t think of another word to describe food other than what jumps in my head tasteless yuck, Probably will make it a point to not come back here

Chinese Junk? No. Expensive Junk! Chicken with(rare) cashews and almonds was a flavorless soupy bowl of pretty darned close to nothing. Couldn’t have been 75 cents worth of ingredients. And YES! it did have MSG — you can’t fool my autonomic nervous system; the waiter lied. Nevertheless the worst dish of Chinese, by far, I’ve ever had in 50 years. The prices here are totally off the wall. Obviously just a place for getting seen, or just for those who never had good Chinese and wouldn’t know the difference but want to visit the River. Tourist trap if nothing else. Décor is tickly for 30-something Orange Co. types, I guess. They can have it. I can have better Chinese in a $ 3 frozen dinner, and eat it at home — in my undies if I want to. I kid you not. It’s that bad. If you’re really out for Chinese food, don’t go here. But if it’s to go out and socialize, I guess it beats a little room with crammed card tables — but it gets no stars for anything else. Bah.

For a restaurant located in Westfield mall, this place has a beautiful patio that’s both inviting and a great place to hang out after a day of shopping. We dined here over the weekend and had a pleasant experience. Atmosphere compliments the cuisine well. The elegant stone walls, natural-looking water feature and exterior stone floors are attractive and nicely done. Their Asian dishes are knockoff of PF Changs and Wokano with more creative touch. Prices are a bit on the high side, most dinner entrées were $ 16-$ 18. The main draw is the happy hour specials on the food which is great deal. Unfortunately, we arrived late and missed it, but was still able to get good deals on their drink cocktails. Both the mai tai and apple martini was deliciously strong. Appetizers were excellent and portions were more than enough for 3 – 4 people to share. The BBQ pork ribs were fall off the bone tasty. Everyone enjoyed the Chinese chicken lettuce wrap. Everything was fresh and flavorful. I thought the scallion pancakes were good but I prefer the ones at Mama Lui’s. As for entrees, Lo Mein Chicken noodles was outstanding. Best I’ve had so far. Not your typical crisp or dry chow mein noodles drenched in sauce. These noodles were soft cooked al dente, had a good chew, dense and so delicious. Chockfull of fresh veggies and tender pieces of chicken were bountiful and a nice compliment to the dish. Both the Mongolian beef and stir fried rice were terrific too and on point. All in all, it came a bit of a surprise to discover good Chinese food in Palm Springs. It definitely hits the spot when you’re craving Chinese food. Good service and atmosphere. Looking forward to coming back.

Beautiful inside and outside setting with a full bar as well. All day happy hour features beers, martinis, apps, tacos and sliders. They also have lunch specials from 11a-4p that come with wonton/hot and sour soup and white/brown rice that are around $ 12 on average. I ordered a lychee martini, which was nice and strong and delicious. We started with an order of spring rolls off the happy hour menu(4 pieces $ 6) which was fried perfectly. I ordered the chicken with mixed veggies lunch special. The wonton soup came out with the spring rolls and wasn’t bad, but it wasn’t anything spectacular although presentation was nice. The entrée itself was perfectly portioned and tasted great. Minus one star for service. The waitress was also a hostess so her attention was split between two jobs, and she wasn’t the friendliest, but that won’t stop us from coming back :)

We’ve Been wanting to try this place since it opened. Great location outside of the mall, I can see why it would get packed. Generally a nice, hip looking Chinese restaurant. Service: 4 stars. To start our waitress was lovely. She was very friendly and had a great sense of humor. Also great with making suggestions. She was 5 star worthy, she was a little forgetful towards the end when we were in a rush to leave and get our check but the fact that she acknowledged it and hurried to get our to go boxes made up for the slowness towards the end. The reason I bump it down from 5 stars to 4 is because our bus boy never brought us our side plates we requested so after waiting a few minutes we were forced to eat lettuce wraps over our soup bowls which clearly looked awkward that luckily our waitress noticed and brought us out some places. Also on the cooks part the timing was a little off towards the end, it was a nice start to receive our drinks and appetizers quickly but then it was a long wait after that to get our meal. Food: 5 stars! Everything was out of this world really really good. So happy to find a place that actually serves authentic shrimp with lobster sauce, it wasn’t watery at all which has become a constant problem for me trying to order this dish in the area. Our appetizers were also great and the fried rice was perfect. They really don’t skip on the meats and shrimp! Loved it. Price: 4 stars. When I think of Chinese food I don’t expect to leave paying $ 80 for dinner, again the quality was there which makes sense for the higher prices but I can’t really feel good about spending $ 19 on a dish but again the shrimp dish was really really good so I think I can live with it. Be mindful you might get more bang for your buck if you come at lunch. Great new find and I’ll surely be coming back

Great restaurant! A++ My boyfriend and I were originally a bit put off by previous reviews, but we decided to give it a try anyway. We came to Bobby Mao’s during the week and sat at the bar for happy hour. The waiter was very friendly, the happy hour specials were delicious, and the overall vibe was great! We came for a second visit two days later! Delicious food, very friendly staff, and even had a nice conversation with the owner too. Would definitely come back as a regular! Highly recommend the chicken or Beef lo-mein, seasame chicken, scallion pancakes, and the General Mao’s chicken!

The vibe in this Chinese restaurant is different than most — it’s more modernized. It’s a cute restaurant, I’ve only been to the bar area. They have a good bar menu! We ordered different appetizers to share — we probably ordered a little too much. But the food was very good, my favorite would have to be the hot and sour soup. Enjoyed the large chunks of tofu. A couple sitting at the bar top had some pretty good looking Mai tais(might try one in the future). Hope this restaurant does well!
