Jen Plus Colour – Hair and Makeup

Jen was a true professional artist! She arrived on time with her second artist and actually finished a bit early! Jen did my hair and makeup for my December wedding in Palm Desert and styled my bridesmaids’ hair. She truly made me and my bridesmaids’ feel beautiful.
I am not the type of person who normally wears makeup or even does my hair (crazy lion hair is normally my staple), but Jen made me feel confident as she very naturally applied my makeup and tamed my hair. My hair and makeup was very soft and subtle that it didn’t take away from who I am but instead it genuinely enhanced my beauty and confidence. She gave me a «naturally honest look» — if that’s even a thing.
Simply put — Jen is great and will make you feel and look like your best self! She doesn’t change you — she makes you glow! And trust me, you want to shine on your wedding day!

I already had someone booked for my hair and makeup when I stumbled across Jen’s website (via Unilocal). I wasn’t thrilled with the back-​and-​forth between my current vendor when it came to pricing so I decided to look to see who else was out there. I LOVED the look of Jen’s work on her previous clients, her website was simple and straight to the point and her pricing was easy to understand and very competitive. I didn’t think twice and I booked Jen and she was the best decision I made.
I live in San Francisco and wasn’t going to be in her area until just before the wedding — I met her the day before the big day for my trial and wasn’t worried at all because her communication up until that point was solid and I felt confident with all the reviews and photos. You! Yes, you! Your search for a bridal make-​up artist and hair stylist is over. Seriously. Aside from Jen’s extensive portfolio of natural make-​up brides, she’s hilarious and so easy to talk to!
Here are my two reasons why Jen is the BEST!
1. For my Thursday morning wedding in Palm Springs at 8:30am, Jen met me at her studio at 5am to do my hair and make-​up. Yes, 5AM. Repeat: 5AM! AND she brought a great sense of humor and positivity for my big day. Jen even placed a live succulent hair comb in my hair AND placed my veil. She took the stress and thinking of out the situation for me. Truly professional.
2. There was a contract. As a legal professional, this was supremely important to me from the get-​go. I knew exactly what the rates were, what my responsibilities were, what Jen’s responsibilities were, what my options for add-on’s were, and there were no surprises. I LOVED this. Again, the mark of a professional who truly cares about her work and values transparency.
Seriously, look no further. Jen is worth every penny and then some. I recommend Jen’s hair styling and make-​up services without hesitation to my closest friends. This woman knows her stuff and you’ll walk away thinking how you ever lived without her!

First, let me start off by saying that I’m one of those people who don’t trust anyone with my hair. I used to have terrible experiences with haircuts/​styling so now that I found a stylist who gets me, I don’t stray. Ever. So you can imagine being from New Jersey and planning an engagement shoot in Palm Springs was frightening when it came to finding someone to do my hair. I contemplated doing my own hair to avoid it or just leaving my hair straight, but then I researched like crazy to find someone who could help me. I came across Jen’s work because my photographer’s sister used her during her wedding and I saw the photos. I looked at Jen’s instagram for awhile and decided if I was going to trust in anyone that I hadn’t met, I would definitely want it to be her. She responded quickly and was very professional. Still, leading up to the day I was slightly worried bc we’d never met. I had nothing to worry about though because she’s the sweetest person and is super talented. Right away, she got started after I showed her a picture of what I was going for. She also made me feel comfortable and is easy to talk to. And to top it off, the way Jen did my hair was one of my favorite looks ever! She not only gave me volume that lasted into the next morning (my hair usually goes flat fast), but she did my hair even better than I expected! My photographer said I looked like a «desert goddess» when I was done. One of my favorite pictures from our engagement shoot is one where it’s just the back of my head showing all my pretty waves. I’ve gotten so many compliments on my engagement shoot hair! Seriously Jen is amazing. Book her if you can! You’ll feel awesome and not want to wash your hair bc her work is so pretty you’ll want it to stay that way!

Jen is hands down the best! I live two hours outside of Palm Desert, but she did not allow that to deter us from developing a «vision» and great communicative relationship! Leading up to the big day, Jen was very easy to work with — she was very quick to respond to emails, answered all my questions, let me know what she required up front, and had very reasonable prices. She took into consideration my normal makeup routine and elevated it for my big day. I wanted to still look like me, but of course a little more WOW factor. and she did just that! Both my face and hair held up during the whole day/​night and my photo’s turned out flawless. Jen is professional (yet fit in just like one of the gals!) friendly and someone you’d want to share the morning of your big day with! She provided me and all four of my bridesmaids with mini touch – up kits which came in super handy through the course of the evening. I can’t thank Jen enough for making me feel like a beautiful bride on one of the most important days of my life, I am so lucky to have found her! If you’re still reading this review, I highly recommend you book her now before it’s too late!

I highly recommend Jen for make-​up and hair on your wedding day! She is absolutely the best. She is incredibly professional and undeniably talented. I was able to put my full trust in her and not stress! During the trial, she carefully listened to my thoughts and ideas, and it went above and beyond. I even learned a few make-​up tips for everyday wear. On my wedding day, she was right on time, and made the whole process easy. Not only is she super talented but also funny, a delight to be around, and knows what she is doing. Look no more and book Jen!

Jen is seriously the best! She came very highly recommended by my wedding planner, who I completely trusted with everything, so I just went with it and booked with Jen. I could not have been happier! From the minute I met her for my trial session, I loved her. She’s young, fun, energetic, funny, and very talented. She gave me the exact look I wanted for my hair and makeup, and I felt so gorgeous the entire day and night! On the morning of the wedding, she and her crew showed up on time, set up quickly, got right to work, and made all the women in my family look fabulous! They made my mom look 20 years younger. Cannot even begin to describe how wonderful my experience with Jen was. She is an absolute doll to work with, every step of the way: responds quickly, sends great reminders, keeps you smiling (giggling) & stress-​free during a very stressful time, and genuinely cares that you look and feel your very best on your special day.
I found Jen through my photographer, knowing that my out-​of-​area hairdresser of 12 years wouldn’t be able to do my hair for my little backyard wedding. When I arrived at my trial, I immediately fell in love with Jen & her positive spirit. She was also incredibly helpful in recommending a completely different hairstyle than I had imagined (with a short bob, I wasn’t thinking I could do much of anything). My Fiancé/​Husband LOVED it!
I have the best memories of my wedding morning with Jen — I felt like I was spending the morning with a girlfriend, laughing & chatting instead of worrying if the cake was being delivered on time (or whether I was going to look OK). My makeup and hair turned out EXACTLY how I wanted. She also was sweet to come early enough to do my mom’s makeup as well.
I wasn’t the little girl who dreamed of the big princess wedding, but looking back, I’m so thankful that Jen made me look and feel beautiful that day. I can’t wait to work with her again for other head shots or even corporate events. She is a true gem!

Jen did my make-​up and hair for my wedding at the 29 Palms Inn in March and she was so great!
When planning a wedding there are so many people who don’t respond to you quickly, or at all, and don’t answer all of the questions asked when they finally do respond. Jen was not like that at all, which was really nice. She always responded very quickly and fully answered all my questions.
When we set up a trial I was a bit nervous because I am not a fan of wearing a lot of make up, but Jen totally listened to what I wanted and had an awesome attitude. She was also really good at helping me really narrow down what I wanted, because I had a few ideas and photos and we tried a few different looks until I picked one I loved. The trial was a lot of fun and I left completely excited about my hair and make up for my wedding day.
Day of, Jen and her assistant arrived on time and ready to go and everything really just went super smoothly. At one point we were running a little bit behind and I started to get pretty antsy so I spoke up that I was getting nervous and she changed up the plan a little and we were right back on schedule which I really really appreciated! I loved my hair and make-​up for my wedding and it really looked great at the end of the night too (at 1am. maybe 2am? haha).
Also my mom and sister and bridesmaids also really liked her. My mom was especially worried because she doesn’t wear a whole lot of make up either, but Jen is great at highlighting the features you want highlighted and giving people a naturally beautiful look!

Jen is a professional of the highest level! She is a perfectionist, super friendly, a great listener and uses long lasting, quality product. Her client’s happiness means everything to her. She has no shortage of cosmetics, every foundation color imagineable — she is also very sanitary and clean, taking care of her products as she does wonders to the face. Her rates are very affordable — I have been going out to the desert for the past 10 years for various events, parties etc and no one has done a better job than Jen. Highly recommend — no more mall makeup artists!

I travelled from Australia to Palm Springs to have my dream destination wedding in June of this year. After much research I chose Jen as I loved her style and she was so prompt with all of my questions /​enquiries. I was most thrilled with the results as on the day she really brought to life my idea of fun and color to exactly the look that I was wanting to achieve. She uses the most high end products. The duration of my makeup on the actual day was brilliant, needing virtually no touching up beside lips of course. Jen is a truly kind, helpful and sincere soul who is passionate about what she does and that most definitely comes through in her work. Jen is amazing! My husband and I had a very last minute elopement out in Joshua Tree, and Jen did a wonderful job of creating a beautiful and «natural» look for me. I am not a big make-​up person so I was nervous, but Jen made it look very subtle. Even when my floral crown did not work out, she was able to take it apart and incorporate pieces of it into my hair, and it turned out so much better than I was expecting. Jen was so positive and excited on the day and her whole team was fabulous.
There is so much stress leading up to your wedding but Jen helped take that away. She made a schedule to make sure to keep the large bridal party on track and took away my having to think about it.
I have never felt more beautiful and more like myself as I did on my wedding day and I have Jen to thank for that. She listened to exactly what I wanted and also added her own beautiful touches that I would never have thought of.

I love love Jen! Before I met her I was always scared of getting a haircut/​haircolor due to a bad experience, but not with Jen. I trust her and I just let her do whatever she wants to my hair. That’s how amazing and talented she is! Thank God I found her. I’ve been going to her twice now and I plan to keep going to her forever! First time I met her was for a consultation and she explained everything in detail, I was impressed. Jen is very easy to talk to because she really listens to me. I am comfortable whenever I go to her. If you haven’t tried going to her then I strongly suggest you do. She is the best!

Jen was so amazing to work with. She did my hair and makeup for my wedding, and was receptive when I gave changes to my hair/​look. She was also very accommodating (I try to only use cruelty-​free products). Not only is she easy to talk to — she has such a fun sense of humor. My husband and I had such a blast doing my trial and getting to know her (it’s rare to find people you want to be friends with after a wedding)! She also did my husband’s hair, styled it for the wedding and he looked top notch. I also have A LOT of thick hair and Jen was able to achieve that ethereal wavy look that I’ve always wanted. I’ve never felt so confident in my life. Most importantly, I loved that she was so opened and communicative!

I meet Jen through my makeup artist and I was really excited to see what she could do with my hair after we talked about what i liked. For my trial she did this amazing fish braided updo, i was in love!
The date of the wedding Jen arrived at the location on time with all the products and materials she needed. She has a great personality and sense of humor, my nervous mom and bridesmaid seemed to be enjoying them self. Jen is very conscious of time and making sure everyone is out the door in time. My wedding hair was gorgeous! i had so many compliments. Everything stayed in place and put together. If you are looking for a professional/​creative/​innovation hair stylist look no further.
