I came here on a saturday night trying to find something to eat after a business conference. The whole town of Palm Desert seems to close everything at 8pm. Lucky we came in just in time. We had a party of 20 and also there was another party that just came in. So there was like 30 people who all entered at the same time. There was 1 waitress and 1 cook. The waitress TOOKCHARGE. SHEWASAWESOME. I have worked in a restaurant before so i understand how this can get. So for having 30 people all come in at the same time she handled it really well. i got a 2 carne asada taco –really good! 2 pastor taco — had better 1 shrimp taco — surprisingly good 1 fish taco — there was like no fish thanks for taking care of our party!

We were visiting Palm Desert and looking for some Mexican food. I checked out Unilocal for nearby restaurants and found Mamacita’s. The location is certainly off the beaten path, in fact we were not sure that it was even open. We went on a Saturday night around 5pm, the restaurant was empty when we first walked. After we were seated a barrage of customers came in for takeout orders and service lacked a bit. However, I believe it was due to the restaurant being understaffed. There was one waitress/counter person and one cook. Our food was decent, but the rice came out lukewarm. We found it strange that the restaurant had run out of Margaritas too. Overall, this place was just ok in my opinion.

Good place for a quick bite. I stopped here while waiting for my car to get fixed at a local mechanic on the same street.

There are two things that I LOVE at this restaurant, their Caldo de pollo(chicken soup), and their Menudo. The Caldo has whole pieces of chicken, plenty of veggies, and it’ll cure whatever ails you! The menudo is full of flavor and I believe it can bring the dead back to life. I recommend both highly. The next time you come here, try a little something different and order one of these amazing soups. ¡Buen provecho!

I was visiting the auto body shop next door and stoped by to eat. I ordered shrimp something burrito. It was really very bland and tasteless. I always finish my food, even if im not very hungry. But this time I couldn’t go farther than 3th bite. I would never go back unless I get a job at the auto body shop next door, and become so cheap that all can I afford could be their $ 2 bean and cheese burrito…

Thought we would give this place a try. Looked homey enough to be good. What a disappointment! We each got a different burrito. Both were dry as the desert. The carnitas had burned pieces of meat and the rest of the meat was so stringy that it was inedible. Dry. Dry. Dry. After three or four bites we simply left the full plates on the table and walked out. If they were willing to serve that food, no amount of complaining would have made a difference anyway. Save your trouble save your money stay away.

Good food. Authentic tasting(big plus when u can find mexican food in cali that doesnt add yrllow cheese to everything) HUGE burritos. Prices are ok except for the guacamole(overpriced). 3 stars because of the Meh* service(girl was ready to close 2hrs away from closing time and she wasn’t really welcoming). We had to ask for lemons and salsa cuz she had already cleaned the salsa bar.

The chicken fajita burrito is amazing here! Not much to look at inside, but it’s great for locals and workers to stop by and grab a quick and delicious lunch. The chicken in the burrito is flavorful and high quality and its sautéed with onions and green peppers. It’s one of my favorite burritos I’ve ever eaten in my thirty some years.

I’m visiting Palm Springs and took my two young kids there for breakfast. The server/cashier was rude and indifferent; she even took a call while we we ordering our food. Not having a kid’s menu is just another indifference to customers. The décor was disgustingly filthy. Even the empty(!) beer bottles lined up along the top of the cold drink refrigerator — supposedly advertising the types of beer they stocked– were dingy with grease and dust. Since they were located at the edge of the open kitchen area, I can only imagine what horrors of sanitation the food prep area has. To top it off, the rude server/cashier flatly told me the A/C doesn’t work. Someone who actually cares about the customer would have apologized about the A/C and invited us to sit at their tables outside. This place gives Palm Springs a bad name!

I am pretty particular with my Mexican food, and this is my place I go to in Palm Desert! Cozy, kind of hole in the wall, but delicious food at reasonable prices. My only suggestion would be a KIDMENU, would make ordering easier.

This place was a bit overwhelming. The service was rude, the silverware was plastic and I was mid sentence ordering and the woman just walked away. Oh, and to top it all off American Pie was on repeat. The cheese enchiladas weren’t bad — but can you really screw that up?

Nice little hole in the wall. Looks tiny from the outside, but as soon as you step in, there’s a good amount of room for 15+ people. Ordered the taco combo and a chabela. Tacos were decent, the rice was really good and the Chabela was yummy! The prices are reasonable and they have a cozy seating area in the front.

This place was horrible. It looked dirty, the soda was flat. The food tasted like it was cooked yesterday, and is too pricey for a lunch menu. Fool me once. .. .

First time visit on 10−14−13 for dinner. Hardly anyone around this area after 5 pm because it’s a business park. The Unilocal description says there is table service but we were told to order at the counter and food was brought to table. My enchilada/taco combo was just fine. Everything looked and tasted as good as I would hope. The prices are so reasonable that I was concerned about the food quality but they will get my business again. One concern, my guest ordered a crispy shell with her taco and didn’t finish it because it was over cooked.

Looking quite inauspicious and unassuming from the outside, Mamacita’s changes rapidly as you enter with a warm and authentic look on the inside, with reviews from local papers, and signed pictures of a plethora of famous people, making you realize you’ve just come across something special. We were not disappointed. We had the chile rellenos, which we were told were legendary… And indeed, they were legit; pasilla peppers stuffed with jack cheese, and smothered with more jack and cheddar. Amazing. As the story goes, Dante Nunez, who owns the restaurant, famously worked as a cook for Frank Sinatra, catering many of his gatherings, and becoming sort of a local legend for his culinary talents. I love a place with a story, and this place without a doubt is a «if these walls could talk» sort of place. If you are in Palm Springs, track this place down.
