I’m a local… and been here multiple times over a period of time… I’ve tried many items like the lobster roll etc. some items are really tasty and done well during the week! Here’s the problem… the place is filthy! Look at the vents and fans… if they don’t clean within sight… what does it look like out of sight? Their name suits them… The other issue is on the weekend they have some young gen Y kids cooking who just suck. So the food suffers during the busiest times Lastly…the blonde ponytail server with the glasses is a clueless ninny who will ruin your evening… go elsewhere if she approaches you!

I have been a customer since 2012. Excellent customer service, clean, and the food is ALWAYS good. Favorites include Crispy Calamari, Crispy Shrimp, Crispy Pork Chop, and the beef soba noodles!!! The wine selection is great and the restaurant is quaint. Great place overall!

Excellent sushi rolls, some real out of the box specialty rolls. If you are a dumpling fan they have all different types of dumplings. Everything from spicy to ginger, a must try!

I just had a massive meal here with some friends so I feel obligated to put up a review. Tonight, I’ve tried: Chicken & Veggie Tempura(app), Yakitori(app), Chicken Yaki Soba(entrée), Atlantis Roll(entrée), Spicy Hamachi Hand Roll(entrée), Salmon Nigiri(entrée), Mango & Green Tea Mochi Ice Cream(dessert), and finally the Tempura Banana(dessert). Before I go into more details, I have to say that this was very honestly one of the best meals I’ve had in years. The food was undeniably fantastic: I’ve eaten sushi in about a dozen different restaurants in the Tampa Bay area and this has to have been my favorite, hands-down. Beyond that, the service was fantastic. I was with a table of five, four of us sat down and ordered drinks and we ended up having to wait 45 minutes for our fifth to show up(and for us to order food). We then ordered a huge variety of food in multiple waves, were pretty loud while eating, and then had a crazily-split check. Despite all of this bullshittery, there was never once a flash of impatience and our waitress even still joked with us. A++ service, she was tipped quite generously. And then the food. The Chicken/Veggie Tempura was fantastically fried and came with a thin teriyaki-type sauce that was mild but paired perfectly with both the meat and the veggies. The Yakitori(chicken skewers in an acidic, almost-BBQ like sauce) was well-cooked, well-presented, and the sauce was so good that I dipped the Tempura in it as well. The Chicken Yaki Soba was probably the weakest point of this all and it was still quite good: the soba was just the right heat for easy eating and while quite low-key as far as flavor goes, was extremely satisfying. The Atlantis Roll was just heaven. Just the right mix of fresh salmon and tuna: it was portioned such that each slice of the roll was a wonderful mouthful of both. I’m a sucker for salmon and this stuff was heavenly. Next, the Spicy Hamachi Hand Roll. Holy shit. Jesus Christ. $ 4.50 for the one roll, it’s sort of like an ice cream cone made of seaweed with fish and rice and such inside. Despite being pricey, this was one of the best things I’ve ingested in a long while. The fish is so smooth and well-cut that, when mixed with rice and thin veggies and sauce, it feels like you’re actually taking a bite from an ice cream cone. If I could walk around town with one of these in my hand everyday, god knows I would. Although I only had one piece(stolen from my friend), the Salmon Nigiri was just bliss. Just the right size, the salmon felt like butter when I bit through it. It practically melted in my mouth, no joke. Like damn. The Mango Mochi Ice Cream and the Green Tea Mochi Ice Cream were pretty good, but they’re something that you can get just about anywhere and are good just about anywhere. So they aren’t too demonstrative of anything. And finally, the Tempura Banana. While I’ve had this many times, rather than smaller bites, this was a full banana cut into six slices. So it was six large chunks of fried banana presented around a blob of vanilla ice cream and topped with chocolate sauce. And it was great. Having eaten as much as I had, I was relieved to find that the bananas were somehow very rich while not being very heavy, with the ice cream complementing that. A very nice ending. Overall, as I said before, we were there for about three hours and it was more than likely one of the better meals I’ll have in a long time.

In the desperate search for good late night sushi we decided to try this place. We were the only customers in the restaurant and the service was lousy. Not to mention that we could see the food prep individual touching his face while making the our sushi. Overpriced if the sushi was at least decent, however it was awful.

Excellent real quality sushi, and value. This five-star review is based ONLY on the sushi you get from the sushi chef(Rexley) at the sushi bar. This is why: Japanese sushi restaurants offer cooked food to serve something to diners(typically companion diners) who don’t like sushi. Their cooked food is rarely as good as their sushi menu because that is not their specialty. Many times companions have agreed to go to a sushi restaurant with me, only to later say«I don’t eat raw fish» and then they order cooked food like beef and then gripe about it not being as good as a steakhouse. This sushi chef’s previous restaurant was excellent, so I tracked him down here. His previous restaurant was in a more rural location and there were a few issues that were non-sushi related. Anyway, this place is nice and clean and is comfortable. It’s nice that this place is open late, but unfortunately not open for lunch.(But, the chef has to rest some time.) Rexley does a wide assortment of sushi items and creative well-made specialty rolls. His Rainbow Roll is great, and I really enjoyed the Atlantis Roll and the Salmon Lovers Roll particularly. The smoked salmon JB roll is very tasty too. The fish is well prepared, fresh, plump, and right in texture and temperature. The pickled ginger he uses is good, and the wasabi is concentrated(but a bit more dry than most wasabi in other restaurants). Rexley is also friendly and very pleasant, unlike many sushi chefs who seem pretty hassled and grouchy. I don’t think you can go wrong if you dine at the sushi bar and order the raw sushi items. If you don’t like sushi, then just go someplace else. If you do like sushi, then Lazy Maguro is as good or better for sushi than anywhere else in the bay area.

A solid go-to sushi spot in a convenient location. The sushi basics(California roll, shrimp tempora, edamame, etc.) are delicious and inexpensive. For something a little different — and not quite traditional — try the chicken tempora roll.

Excellent, slightly pricey, neighborhood store front shopping center Japanese restaurant. A great neighborhood find! Atmosphere 80 Clean and Japanese Service 70 Unprepared and uninformed Food 90 Very good Value 75 Above average prices for a local eatery. If you are near East Lake or on McMullen Booth well worth the visit.

One word, delicious ! We have been eating here about once a week and love the sushi here every time. The dragon roll, jb roll and seafood melody ate our favorites. We also love the salmon flatbread it is very unique and is always very fresh. Sometimes I think they could use an extra server but the girls seem to do their best and are very friendly. This is a great local spot if you are looking for some sushi.

It’s an okay sushi joint to say the least. It’s new and it’s sushi is pretty good. The quality could be better, but they give you a pretty good portion for a fair price. Don’t expect it to be amazing and if you want sashimi you only get 2 small pieces. Service is mediocre.

It’s a shame when good sushi is marred by poor, impersonal service. We came to Maguro after hearing good reviews and left disappointed. Our hometown sushi joint feels like family, offers hot towels and free miso/salad.and everyone is so nice! Maguro had none of that and our server made us feel like a burden. The rolls and gyoza were good though.

This is hands down the BEST sushi restaurant I have ever been to! To be honest, when my husband and I(who are from out of town) pulled up to the restaurant, I was a bit disappointed because it was a little hole in the wall, a bar or pub-looking joint near a publix. I didn’t get the feeling I wanted from it. Upon walking inside, it was quiet, and we were one of only two parties in the restaurant(it was about 10:30). The staff greeted us in a very friendly manner, and attended to us promptly, checking up on us often and strived to offer good service. The chef was especially friendly as well. Now on to the food: Amazing sushi, great price for the quantity too. I’ve never been offered iced green tea anywhere else, but I wish I could take it back home with me because it tasted so amazing! There was so much sushi to choose from, so you won’t feel like you’re limited. I wish I could mention how good the desert was, but I was too full from our generously sized sushi rolls to really eat anything else! You will not be disappointed with the food, or the service! It makes me sad we won’t be in town for a long time to have this for dinner again.

The best sushi joint in northern Pinellas County. Their sushi is amazing, drinks are great, and staff is super friendly. Their dumplings are incredibly tasty, as well. To make things better, two people can go there and stuff themselves for less than $ 50. My only issue with the place was the weird smell.(I was told that was a plumbing issue that prior tenants dealt with also.) Given they put in a new air circulation system, I find no issues with the restaurant.
