Tahquitz Creek Golf Resort

I have played Tahquitz Creek since its inception. Through the years I always found it to be in good shape, good staff, and good pace of play. I played the course yesterday, and while it is getting to be low season in the valley, the overall experience was not good. The pro shop staff, who may be worn our from the season, are not friendly nor personable. Getting normal responses like thank you or you are welcome were entirely missing. The computers weren’t working well so it took a while to confirm my reservation of to determine if my range key still had credit. The course, for the 6 holes I played, is in fair shape. Overuse of the exit from the cart path has worn out the exit areas, which should be changed periodically. The golf carts are in need of repair and possibly replacement. The driving range, which at one time was quite good, was closed, in the middle of the day and on a weekend. The pace of play was not good. 6 holes took 2:05. Without rangering, the people in front of me either drove their cart to the fringe of ½ the greens or left their cart short of the ‘no cart’ ropes which were 50 yards from the greens. The bright spot was the grill and the staff, Amy was quite good and accommodating. The cheeseburger was very good.
I come to play in Palm Springs 2 – 3 times a year for 2 weeks each stay. I try to make Tahquitz my ‘home’ course when I visit but without some additional attention to details or changes to staff attitudes I can see where I will use other options.

Booked online and sent a note to the club we needed both men’s and women’s rental clubs. Gave them my email and phone number.
Showed up to play and was told that they had no women’s clubs available at that time. They had just sent out 4 sets. Pretty upset that they did not call to tell me they would not be able to give us the women’s clubs, as we would have gone elsewhere.
Gave us two sets of men’s, too bad no senior clubs available as we could have used those instead of the women’s set.
Tried to play with the men’s clubs. Very difficult swapped them at 9 for the women’s clubs that had been retuned.
Golf cart was very slow, and finally packed it in on 16the hole. Had to call and have another cart brought out for us.
I don’t think I would go back again, as was not happy about not getting the ladies clubs for the front nine, as well as the cart that should have been charged before sending it back out for another round.
Course was pretty, and in good shape. I will say that!

Had a 6:45 tee time off the back nine on 3 – 7. Got there early & had the free breakfast. Practice green rolled very true. Waited at my cart as there was going to be a twosome with me. Turned out to be an extremely nice couple (Martin & Lisa), They had played this course numerous times so they were very helpful as to where to & not to hit the ball. Course seemed to be in very good shape. We were done in just over 2 hours & again much thanks to Martin & Lisa. I had a great time.

We golf here all the time, the course is good and the staff is great! Every employee here does an amazing job. It doesn’t hurt that you get 2 drinks and lunch or breakfast included in the already ridiculously cheap rate. If you want a great day of golf, this is the place to go

Where do I start? $ 60 junior price, then the cart runs out of juice and the Marshall said turn it off and on and you’ll make it, they pushed us out 30 min before our tee time. We were about to hit a bucket of balls since we had time to kill before our tee time, then had a hard time getting a $ 7.00 refund on the balls we didn’t have a chance to use. If we would have finished the course 5 min later we would have missed our lunch because the café was already pulling all the food. Then as we were sitting there eating our food at 4pm the café turns off all the tv’s, basically closing down even though there were at least 10 people in there eating. Apparently that was their sign that they were closed so we leave. Very bad experience, we will never come back to this course again.

Horrible f***** place. They ran out of carts!!! There were 3 of us. We each had to take turns walking. How does a place not calculate cart usage. And this was early in the day. I will never come back to this sh! t hole.

Tee off was delayed by 1 hour because they ran out of carts… no one including the starter seemed to think this was a concern. Won’t be returning.

Only bad thing about this place is the bunkers. Easy fix there, don’t go in em!’
Outstanding staff. Perfect greens. And I mean perfect!!! Sweet layout and very pleasing scenery.

So let me start by saying I have never golfed here. But yesterday as my friends were golfing and trying to enjoy their anniversary weekend at the resort there car window was bashed and all their luggage and everything they owned was stolen from their car. But this is the kicker– when the cops were called and the report was made they were told it has happened 15 times this month, and they have NO cameras!!! NONE! So they said there was nothing that could be done! You would think that a resort would like to protect their customers! What resort has no cameras? I’m appalled and disgusted at this and believe me, we are spreading the word! If you want to go get jacked then this is the place to come! Hope it’s not an inside job! If I could leave no stars, I would! Shame on this resort!

A friend and I are both visiting the area and wanted to play golf, but not break the bank. I had played Tahquitz on a previous visit and liked the length and challenge of the course. We found a good deal for green fees on Golf Now and thought the round was worth every penny. The course is in great shape and played well, even in light showers today. Staff are professional and friendly in the pro shop, restaurant and cart/​course staff.

4.0 stars overall due to:
#1. Two rounds of gold for $ 134 that you can spread out over two weeks from your initial game of golf.
#2. Free hot breakfast with beverages, hot and cold. Cold cereal, toast, etc. Today it was scrambled eggs, bacon, tater tots, pancakes, Denver scrambled eggs. Good between hours 6a-​10a. Before or after round of golf.
#3. Free hot lunch with same beverages. Today it was beef ribs with Jack Daniels glaze with mashed potatoes, cornbread, tamarind chicken breast, salad bar. Good between hours 11:00a-3p before or after round of golf.
#4. Two free drinks from the bar– draft beer, red or white wine, or bottled water. There must be many locals. One woman had her white wine poured into a water bottle to go.
Later on in the day, hubby and I felt very thirsty. They must use meat tenderizer in the beef ribs.
What a deal. The course was very green today. We played the Resort course. Just a few hazards. Not a very difficult course which was right up my alley. We finished in under 4 hours.
We saw desert wildlife like a roadrunner, a hawk, and rabbits.
No carts are allowed in the parking lot. Is this the rule in PS/​PD?

An alright course, but one of the better bargains in town. We were able to tee off early and finish in 3 hrs and 30 minutes. The legend course was recently seeded, so it was cart path only, but besides that the greens were hard, but not too fast. Make sure you hit your approach shots below the pin and putt hard because it is slow. End up on the back and putt downhill and you’ll be in trouble. Very fair layout, not much too it.
It was funny to see a parking spot reserved for Arnold Palmer since it’s managed by his team, but someone parked in it. Guess someone’s getting towed…

Played the Resort Course in November 2014 and had a great time. The course is fun and challenging but nothing too crazy. The pace of play slowed down a bit towards the end but we finished in just over 4 hours on a Saturday afternoon. Can’t beat that.

Played yesterday, Nice course although it was cart path only due to over seeding. It took 3 hours to play 10 holes and we called it a day :(

When I checked into my hotel last week in Palm Spring my room had a view overlooking this course. Hell, I have a day off and it’s been no less than five years since my last golfing experience… let’s go!
Seeing that we weren’t planning on golfing during our stay in PS, we needed to rent some clubs and buy some balls. The pro shop was eager to help and got us squared away for about $ 75 each, which included the club rental, a cart, a sleeve of balls, a bag of tees and a beer to get the motor running. Needless to say we’d need to buy many more balls but I blame that on my game, not so much the course.
Be ready to use your driver about a dozen times, the greens played really fast seeing that the course was so dry and keep an eye on your ball. The glare can be brutal and tracking down your shot can be very challenging when facing the sun. We stopped keeping score about nine holes in and took a quick detour for a glass of white wine… why not?!
Finished the day waaaaay over par but washed it down at the bar with a cold one, some kind of a chicken strip sandwich and a plate of fried everything. Bring lots of water, kiddos, you’re going to need it!

Quick Notes: I ride my bike from one end of Palm Springs to Palm Desert and stop in at the golf club once in a while for a cold beverage and burger. The bartender is a cutie, she always welcomes people.

I played here on June 8, 2014 & this was the worst course I have ever had the misfortune to play on. A sign of the bad things to come was when the starter put the bag on the cart & didn’t clasp it so when we drove away it fell out. I know you don’t have to be a member of MENSA to be a starter but you’d think clasping the strap to hold on a golf bag would be on the mental note list. Checking to see if the bag was strapped in didn’t croos our minds, we just assumed the starter knew how to do his job. Mistake on our part.
No cart girl because they «smartly» have one for both courses. GENIUS. The only drinkable water on the course are the water fountains at the two bathrooms and those things are disgusting looking.
The rough was brutally tall, good luck finding anything in there. Yes, the goal is to keep it on the fairway but any sort of errant shot just off the fairway & there was a coin flip chance of finding it. What didn’t make any sense was the wash on 18 was mowed shorter than the fairway rough. We did enjoy the mud and gnats that were present, we don’t get those too often in Arizona so that was a nice touch.
Bottom line is they should be wearing a ski mask & holding a gun when they check you in at the pro shop. If you can play anywhere else I would advise doing so, if not then spend the day at the pool & save your money.
P. S. I gave this one star because I guess you have to give it something, but if negative stars were an option then I’d assign it a negative five stars.

The legends course is in piss poor condition. Mud and bugs all over the place. You can see the potential, but it needs a lot of work still. Get ready for a mouthful of gnats on the far left side of the 18^th hole.

The bright sides:
— The greens actually played really well. Was concerned based on other reviews.
— It was easy to find a tee time on a Sunday. Given I was playing solo and snuck in early, it was the only place I was able to book last minute.
— Fair price. Included breakfast and 2 drinks. (+1 star for this)
They’re clearly reeling in folks through food and drink incentives cause the course unfortunately doesn’t get you excited to come back.
If you’re looking for a cheap quick and dirty 18 holes this is your place.

Decided to golf here when in the area visiting family. Played the resort course which seems to get a lot of play. Decent shape overall but greens need some work. Round included breakfast, lunch and 2 beers. Lunch was good and the girls were really hustling, give em a try…
