This is a little piece of the bakery heaven. I drove out of my way to find this –and for that I was rewarded with great food. They have wonderful pastries, awesome Cuban coffee as well as lunch and breakfast entrées. This one is on my list. I’m on my way back soon!

Que lástima, este sitio tiene el mejor café y pan del área y de muchos otros sitios que conozco, pero las mujeres que atienden las órdenes del café son insoportables y les falta mucho tacto para dar un buen servicio al cliente. Too bad, this place has the best coffee and bread in the area and many other places I know, but the women serving in the coffee area are unbearable and lack of manors to give good customer service.

Excellent café con leche! Friendly atmosphere with a budget friendly menu. The pastries are made from scratch and the food is amazing. Guava pastry a must!

I am fairly new to the West Palm Beach area, having lived in Miami for over 50 years and having been born in Cuba, I am pretty much an expert on Cuban food. Despite the growing Cuban community here, there is really nowhere to go for a decent Cuban café con leche or even something as simple as Cuban bread. Upon seeing a comment from a family member this past weekend, today I decided to give Tropical a try. I ordered a Cuban sandwich, a café con leche and a few guava pastelitos, I asked about their ham croquetas but they are the commercial frozen ones. The Cuban sandwich was just ok, nothing to write home about. The café con leche would have been fine but the girl that prepared it took it upon herself to make it super sweet, not to my liking. The guava pastelitos were among the worst that I have ever had. Pastelitos in Miami are .85 pretty much everywhere, at Tropical they cost $ 1.05, are much smaller than their Miami counterparts and much more expensive. I suppose that the lack of Cuban food available in Palm Beach County makes people happy to find such a place, as for me, I will hold my cravings for Cuban goodies until I go to Miami. I would rather waste my travel time and gas and tolls to get a better product. I am writing this review in the hopes that Tropical Bakery will step up their game and work on improving their product, more and more Cubans and Latinos are moving to this area, some will see right through your food. I hope that they can de better soon because those tolls to Miami on the Turnpike are brutal.

I’m a fan of Cuban cakes with merengue frosting, hence when I heard they had, I went. I spent over $ 30 tasting a little bit of everything. Meringues pastries not impressed; it was frosting with sprinkles. The guava pastries, sad to say, publix have an edge on them, the cake, frosting authentic, cake was dry. Pollo a la plancha, dry, rice was not good and beans, had no flavor. Place very busy, it’s a favorite spot for many. I will go back to buy cake for birthdays(I’ll moist myself with my own rum syrup recipe). I won’t be running there every Sunday, but it’s good enough to have nearby for occasional sweet tooth.

We go to this bakery all the time. It is cash only but they have an ATM inside in case you forget. They have both sweet and savory options. They offer great lunch specials and the Cuban sandwich is very tasty. You can taste the good quality ham and cheese. More often then not we get a variety of bakery items because they are just irresistible. We really like the dulce de leche napoleons and the flan. The flan is perfectly firm and eggy and the sauce is that perfect caramel, almost bitter sugar syrup. So. Good. The tres leche cake is outstanding. Always moist and rich. The elephant ears are good too, never soggy :) the rice pudding is nice as well. Always a proper balance of cinnamon and cream. I always order a café con leche because they do it the very best!!! So addicting. I go out of my way to get one sometimes. We love to get a big pork rind for our puppy :) they are in the case next to all the yummy croquets and empanadas This is a normal hang out for us local palm beachers.

Really good food! Everything taste fresh and authentic. The services is really good and fast. The only bad thing about this place is that they don’t take cards and that they haven’t made it any bigger after 13+ years.

Fresh homemade Cuban steak. Delicioso! Prices are amazing and service is very good. Prepared sandwiches available for lunch and dinner. Love the Napoleon and the cortadito. Not a big fan of using the laminated menu as a placemat. Could be a little bit cleaner.

I have been going to Tropical for as long as I can remember. And now I take my kids here all the time too. Their café con leche is on point. I like to get mine bien clarito, extra light, because their expresso is no joke. All of the pastries are yummy. Best croquettas in town. And the dinners are really well priced. We always order 2 bistec empanizado meals for our family of 4 and still have left overs. Only thing is I wish they had a bigger dinning area, as their are only a few tables.

It’s a cafeteria with the food of the best Latin restaurant there is. Good fried breaded chicken, best I have had and I’m from Miami. And the menu good and great food. Fast. Place is old and some weird men hang around but they make up with fantastic food and Greta prices and the pastries wow

The best Cuban food ever(Rope Vieja, Black Beans, etc) for $ 5 – 7 served up on Styrofoam. Café con Leche with toasted and buttered Cuban bread… and ham croquettes… heaven! I am blessed to be close friends with lovely Cuban people who live right near this place and they frequent it often. It is easy to miss this place located in a rather boring strip mall, but you should see the line of locals picking up fresh bread and pastries. It helps to converse in some Spanish here but they can manage with my awful Spanglish.

Service was quick. I ordered grilled chicken breast accompanied by rice and red beans and sweet plantains. Everything was fresh and delicious. The only drawback they only take cash but it is a small bakery/restaurant.

I miss this place, I moved out of state, but when I lived in West Palm, this was the place to go for hangover food and even just to have some tasty Cuban food. Every time I come back home I always make it a point to come here for breakfast.

I recently moved to a new office near this location and decided to swing by last week. The café con leche is the best tasting liquid I have ever had in my life. It’s amazing. Seriously. Go get it right now. You’ll never want starbucks or dunkin again after having it. Also had the Media Noche sandwich for lunch and it was really good. The potato balls are ok, not amazing though… The guava pastries are really good though. I might add to this later on as I try more stuff, but everything I’ve had so far was top notch. Food there is really cheap, and a large café con leche is only $ 2.00 Quick note– they only take cash, but they do have an ATM if you don’t have any on you.

I think I figured out what I classified as an «off taste». It is most likely Mojo sauce. Which I do not think it belongs on a traditional Cuban sandwich. It should be Cuban bead, Ham, Roast pork, Swiss Cheese, pickles and mustard. Pressed and toasted, served warm. NOMOJO.

The Tropical Bakery has been a staple in my life for as long as I can remember. It’s been around for a long time and has always put out great quality food and pastries. The food is affordable — expect to pay under $ 10 for a fabulous meal. Some of my favorites there are the Guava pastries, Papa Rellena(stuffed potato balls), and the Ropa Vieja(shredded beef). They usually have a daily special, which can get you a meal for about $ 6.95. Everything is homemade and delicious. Their Café con Leche is an amazing, creamy, sugary cup of heaven. They always have freshly baked Cuban bread on hand which goes quite well with the coffee. The Tropical Bakery is one of my favorite places in West Palm. It’s family owned and operated and it’s one of those places that I hope will be around for a long time to come. I always have to stop by when I visit the family!
