this trail makes a 5 mile loop around the baylands nature preserve, passing by the mayfield slough, adobe creek, soap pond, and charleston slough. it is most definitely a scenic loop to run around, especially when it’s a clear sunny day. you can see the bay, wildlife, and even the sunset if you come at the right time. the trail is pancake flat and 100% gravel/crushed dirt which makes it easier on your joints. it is also the ideal place for me to get my speedwork done when i’m training for races! there are two points of entry to this trail: byxbee park @ embarcadero way or shoreline interpretive trail @ terminal boulevard. you can also connect to shoreline park and lake from the terminal boulevard entrance. both points of entry have free parking, restrooms, and water fountains. there is no shade along this trail, so definitely wear a hat and/or sunscreen on a sunny day.
