It truley is a real Kosher Deli which are found out here in the Bay aREA found this place by accident and ordered a combo bagel and it was warm and the thickist bagel i’d have ever seen. I have gone back and gotten other bagels from there and they are a step ahead but it was an abrasion that my first bagel was truly a great bagel so will drop in when in the area and hope to get one of those bagels to remember

Best bagels in the Bay. The bagels here are fresh and soft, fluffy, chewy on the inside while crispy on the outside. My favorite pairing is the sesame bagel with strawberry cream cheese, which is fresh and perfectly sweet, without tasting artificial in the slightest. The chocolate and asiago bagels are also really delicious and great options if you’re craving sweet or savory. Make sure to come early in the morning when the bagels are the freshest and all the flavor selections are available!

Best bagels I’ve tasted. We had multiseed, sesame and plain. All of them were chewy and warm. Nice staff and really cheap. There is a terrace outside, so you can bring ypur furry friend.

My ever changing love hate relationship with this place has been on the upswing lately. Have come in within fifteen minutes of the open several times recently and the sesame bagels have just been glorious! Nothing brightens up my morning like great bagels. Simple aspirations, less stress. The chive cream cheese is still rock solid, as is the whitefish salad. Quick in and out process even when there is a line to deal with. Will be returning much more often, but only very early in the morning. No problem. I never sleep.

Everything is loveable about Izzy’s – the price point, the offerings, the tastiness, the freshness, even the charm of an unpretentious interior – I’m not really a bagel person but I’m always down for Izzy’s, even after more than a decade of patronage. I love the lox special – I don’t know where else you can get that a bagel with cream cheese and lox trimmings(not just lox spread!) for ~$ 5. Most #basic brunch places will get away with charging you upwards of $ 9 for that!

This place is the best in the Bay Area. Possibly outside of NYC. Chewy on the inside and crispy on the outside. And a bread to cream cheese ratio that makes literally every bite perfect. Anyone hating on the service needs to get a clue. The product speaks for itself. I’d wait 10 min a day patiently and pay cash if I had to. Even if their service was horrible(it’s not. It’s prompt and efficient). They don’t need your business — they’re that good. If you complain about changing an order after they have already begun preparing it, that’s on you. Or yapping about their cookies? Really guys? Bagels are bagels? Uneducated reviews for such a brainiac town.

Izzy’s bagels get rave reviews on Unilocal,so I feel a little bad giving a bad review of their Black and White cookie. However, the owners/bakers might want some constructive criticism and customers might want to know what they have in store. First off, the cookie looks unappealing. There are gaps in the icing, tons of air bubbles in the icing, and the cookie is iced on the wrong side. Needless to say, this cookie has icing problems. And yes, there is a right and wrong to ice. If a cookie is iced on the mostly flat side, there will be no congealed clumps of icing around the ends and there will be no dripping. This cookie was iced on the round-ish side and their were pools of frosting on the sides and«drippage.» The white icing was just ok. The black frosting tasted like dark chocolate, which doesn’t mesh with the other side and is just the wrong flavoring. The cookie portion itself was really dry, cakey, and kind of flavorless. But again, I hear their bagels are really good.

We ordered a bunch of bagels for work. I tried the poppy seed bagel, and… wow! I am pretty sure it nailed the Laws of Bagelability. If there were Bagel Olympics, it would do a clean-sweep; gold in every event. Bagel on the outside, fluffy on the inside. I still had all my teeth after biting in, and chewing didn’t feel like a wrestling match. The taste was delightful. I think this would even make a New Yorker shed a tear of joy. I didn’t go in(and the reviews here make me grateful for that!), so I can’t vouch for customer service in-store. I am completely fine with no service if it means good food, but crappy/rude service is unacceptable. When reading the other reviews, I’m torn. While nomming on this bagel, I was really happy. The choice is yours.

Good place for breakfast. The egg sandwich I got was decent and priced fairly. The waitstaff wasn’t very kind, and I got a very«what do YOU want?» vibe from them. I’d love to give them higher marks, but there are just too many great places for breakfast around Palo Alto for me to recommend them.

Turn back… this is not the bagel you’re searching for. A begrudging 2.5 stars. OK, there are few things I love more in the world than bagels.(I love them so much that my 12 year old cat is named Bagels. Seriously.) As a Jew, bagels are a requirement to get through life. Lamenting to my coworker that there are very few decent bagel places in this part of the world, she suggested Izzy’s. I was super excited to try it. Jewish-owned, decent Unilocal reviews, what could go wrong? Turns out, many things, starting with the service. The rudeness here is well-documented in other reviews, and I’m continuing the chorus: service here is very rude. We were there on a Saturday morning, it wasn’t super busy. The ordering system here is kind of whack. Someone writes your order down on a ticket, the ticket is given to the cashier, you aren’t allowed to modify your order at all once the ticket is written. OK I guess, but the lady taking our order seemed to REALLY not want be there or care about what we wanted. I asked for 2 different types of rugelach, only got one. Asked for Black & White cookie, they were clearly out of them, but she wrote it on the ticket anyway without even checking. Asked for other kinds of bagels, only got one type… you can see where this is going. Then she cut us off before we were done ordering and handed the ticket to the cashier. Alright, we don’t have to give you as much money, no problem. Again, it wasn’t that busy, so there was no need for rushing. Less than 5 minutes later, the small line was completely gone. Well, a lot can be forgiven if the food is good, right? Unfortunately, that wasn’t the case either. Rugelach were previously frozen and imported from somewhere. They were out of B & W cookies(one of the main reasons I was excited to come here). The bagel itself was just… average. Fine. Not great and not worth coming out of your way for. And I’m assuming that the bagel is one of the few things that is actually made there. Too many things need improvement here. I won’t be back. Try Beauty’s Bagel in Oakland if you’re looking for good bagels. The search continues for great bagels in the Bay Area…

Driving up to SF in the morning was a drag so I decided to stop here to grab a quick breakfast to dodge traffic for a bit. Parking was kind of difficult to find but I didn’t mind walking a bit. I ordered my usual, jalepeno bagel with jalepeno spread with lox. I asked for it lightly toasted. Alls I have to say is that I definitely tasted better but a bagel is a bagel and it can’t be that easy to mess it up. It was overly toasted and it was very crunchy, something I do not like in my bagels. They definitely skimped me on the lox. sadface I wouldn’t go out of my way, like I did that one morning, to come back. It didn’t help either that the cashiers were rude and weren’t very friendly either.

The cashier was extremely rude to me when I asked him for a pastry and would not get it for me. I asked him to heat it up and he threw it on the counter and left it there. We waited 30 min and when we finally asked where our blueberry bagel was they told us they were out finally. However as soon as they checked the back they found another one they just didn’t bother saying anything to us and let us wait the entire time. Finally when they gave us our bagel I had to ask them to also give me my cold pastry back which was still sitting in the same bag untouched. Overall this was a horrible experience with some of the worst service I’ve ever experience and less than mediocre food. And it wasn’t even a full service restaurant. 0 stars. Don’t come here.

After watching a special on NY bagels, I was really in the mood for some lox and cream cheese on a bagel. I’ve had Noah’s and Posh’s bagels, but asked a few New Yorkers for suggestions and Izzy’s Bagels was it(with House of Bagels in MV getting honorable mention). I decided to drop by for a morning bagel run and also get some cream cheese spread and try the whitefish. I had never had whitefish, but the spreadable and smoked nature had me intrigued enough. It’s a small shop but pretty busy and efficient in the morning. They quickly take your order and numerous workers and busy toasting, spreading and getting all the orders ready in minutes. I had to ask where the spreads were(on a separate fridge on the left wall) and while I wanted to ask for a sample of whitefish before committing to buying a whole tub, I knew enough from the line behind me and how fast everyone was moving that this wasn’t the place for samples. I was in and out in less than 10 minutes. Sesame Bagel with Lox and Cream Cheese — nice toasted and chewy and soft. Found the sesame to be a little bland. Lox was mild and a bit different from smoked salmon. Half Dozen Bagels — $ 6.50. Got an assortment including garlic, salt, egg, onion, jalapeño, and blueberry. Old soft and chewy. Liked that the salt wasn’t super salty. Chive Cream Cheese Spread — $ 3.95. Low fat but still tasty and full of fresh chives. Very good. Whitefish Salad — $ 4.95. Bought a whole tub but it’s tasty. A touch sweet, but still savory and makes a good spread. Overall, Izzy’s Bagels was a quick and efficient stop. Satisfied my bagel craving and I’ll have breakfast set up for the next few days. Izzy’s accepts credit cards, including American Express and even Apple Pay.

Before heading home we stopped here for a bagel sandwich! We had a difficult time choosing what we wanted but we went with a jalapeño bagel egg sandwich which came with veggies, cheddar cheese & an egg. The bagel was delicious! However I wasn’t a huge fan of the«egg» portion in the sandwich. It tasted slightly over-cooked for my taste preference. This place does get busy! But the lines move quick & they are fast with their orders! Seating gets crowded but we were lucky enough to grab a table & a few chairs I do wish I got to try their cream cheese since hey have a variety of different flavors! I’ve heard the blueberry spread is delicious!

I’d like to say that the Onion bagels, fresh out of the steam oven, are almost as good as the bagels at H&H, I N Joy, or any place in NYC. But in fact, I think Izzy’s are in fact just as good if not better. For the«authentic taste,» we are lucky to have Izzy’s in our community.

There is a GREAT bagel place in the town where I go to school, so I must admit I’ve gotten a bit picky about my bagels, but I was very happy with my first experience with Izzy’s! I ordered an egglette with mozzarella cheese on a sundried tomato bagel. The egg was extremely fluffy and was seasoned really nicely– it was peppery, which I really liked. The mozzarella cheese provided a nice, gooey touch. The other cheese option is cheddar, but I opted for the less salty cheese. I had never had a sundried tomato bagel before, so I was really eager to try it. There was definitely a lot of sundried tomato flavor in the bagel, which I liked, and the bagel was soft but still chewy. I would have liked the skin of the bagel to be a little bit more tough and leathery, but that might just have been the nature of the sundried tomato bagel. The line was long, but went by fairly quickly. The staff was very happy and warm, which made my morning that much better. Be warned: for you BEC fans, you won’t find bacon here or any other kind of breakfast meat for that matter(ah the authenticity of a Jewish bagel shop). I am very interested in trying other things on the menu like the shmears. At $ 3 for a filling, tasty, breakfast sandwich, I was thoroughly pleased. Would love to come back!
