McRoskey Mattress Company

I am giving Mcroskey 2 stars, but may change as events unfold. I bought a matress here 4 weeks ago and from the very first had back issues: lower back pain in the morning to the point of icing in order to get mobile and waking up throughout the night with hip pain. I called Mcroskey after a week, and they sent a technician out to check. He was very nice, said it was sagging but within the range of normal, and walked around on it to even it out. I actually slept better that night, but after getting up my back was killing me. Every morning I wake up with more or less pain, but am always in pain. I went back into the store about a week later and said the mattress simply wasn’t working — I was told that in all their years doing business there was only one other side sleeper who had had a problem with the mattress, but they would exchange it for a firmer one, which would take 4 weeks (this was 10 days ago). The mattress sags and is lumpy — every night I shift over about a foot because there is a trough where I slept the night before. It helps if I flip or turn the mattress, which I do every week, but there are still peaks and valleys, plus it feels as though there is no support at all from the springs — it’s kind of like a hammock. I went back to the store today to see if there is a way to expedite the new mattress and was told it would be at least another month, but they would check with the factory and get back to me. Meanwhile, I am regretting not reading Unilocal before spending so much on a mattress. I am hoping the new mattress will be ok, and will update as events unfold.

Five months ago I decided to replace my lumpy old mattress. All I wanted was a new version of the same thing, a high-​quality standard mattress that would last a long time. Instead, I discovered that the world of mattresses had become impossibly complicated, with air mattresses that need electric pumps, foam mattresses that hold a lot of heat (not good, since I don’t have air conditioning), multi-​layer mattresses that make you feel as though you’re sleeping on a mountain top, and a bewildering jumble of terms — plush, pillow-​top, visco-​elastic foam, EverCool Gfx Memory Foam, gel-​activated support, etc.
Doesn’t anybody sell high-​quality traditional mattresses anymore? The answer is yes — McRoskey. The buying experience was very pleasant. Four weeks later, the delivery of the new mattress and removal of the old one went very smoothly. Most importantly, I’ve been happy with the new mattress and box springs.
The only drawback is that their mattresses are expensive because they’re made in a small local factory, not imported from China. Given the price, I hope my mattress lasts a very long time.

I just bought a new King bed from McRoskey and it is so comfortable all I want to do is lay in it! It is amazing how much better you sleep when you have a really good bed. True, you can get a cheaper bed, but these beds last much longer and a good bed is one of the best investments you can make. My husband had sports injuries from years ago that significantly improved after he started sleeping on a McRoskey mattress. The staff at the Palo Alto store is incredibly friendly and helpful. They spent an hour with me and my husband as we tested all the beds and asked questions. This is our second McRoskey bed and we will never buy another brand. Also, their pillows are outstanding. The side sleeper is my husband’s favorite!

I just took delivery of my second McRoskey mattress. The people in Palo Alto were wonderful to work with. Delivery was as expected, no surprizes.
I am very, very happy.

This is not a mattress store for bargain hunters, or for someone who needs a mattress next day, McCroskey makes a high quality product (in San Francisco!), the showroom is very simple, no BS, no tacky signs or filled to the rafters with thousands of brands and styles, just well constructed mattresses in, extra gentle, gentle, firm or extra firm. These are not the over the top, over stuffed, pillow-​topped glitzy mattresses you see at other mattress stores, these are just classic mattresses in light grey or light blue tick Our salesperson, James, was very pleasant and took care of the transaction. They don’t carry inventory they build to order, which means you typically wait 3 weeks for delivery. Overall a great experience, and best of all the mattress is wonderful!!!

i finally took delivery of my mcroskey bed last week and it’s like sleeping on clouds every night… at least in two hour increments anyways. with the arrival of our baby girl, i’ve yet to enjoy the full capacity of our new bed but at least it’s the best two hours of sleep i’ve ever enjoyed.
the folks at mcroskey gets 5 stars not only for a superbly made mattress but also excellent customer service. being the typical asian, i made the delivery guy take off his shoes before entering which he had no problems doing. he even hauled away my old pos mattress sans shoes. what a guy.
