I give them one star because i have no choice! The food is really not good and they never say sorry about it !

Speechless. This place is completely overpriced, I went there as a group of 5 and the whole meal cost us over $ 150. There are dishes that had been labeled with the price of $ – up, with the up being determined by how much the dish weighed. They never consulted with us about the weight of the dish, allowing them to state quite an obscured price when we asked for the dish. In addition, this restaurant was nothing close to authentic. The dishes were made in a very rushed manner and either over or under cooked. TLDR. Horrible restaurant. To find a place with better service and food quality will not be a hard task~

If I could put no stars I would. A disgruntled man called me saying that I placed an order over the phone and didn’t pick it up. Instead of being polite and understanding, he was rather arrogant and quite honestly childish! Mentioning that he would save my phone number… I would never come here again. The worst part is the over the phone threatening to not order from the store again… Learn some customer service you idiot. I should take this time to thank you for being an eyesore to Palo Alto. Sincerely, customer of the day.

we came at 11:30AM on Sunday and it wasn’t crowded. The restaurant looks more high-end than other Chinese restaurants. The waiter walked away to take phone calls when he was taking our orders so that left a bad impression on us. The menu is about 1.5 times more expensive than a regular Chinese restaurant. Well i guess it was because of the location(Palo Alto). Anyhow, we ordered the HongKong panfried noodles, half Peking duck and baby bokchoy. The panfried noodles were real noodles that were panfried(not like the chow mein snack that you find that other restaurants), so it was really good. I have not had a good panfried noodle dish like this for a long time. The peking duck was expensive($ 17.50 before tax for a half-duck). The Peking Duck at Cooking Papa which is 2 miles away is only about $ 11. That said, the Peking Duck here is pretty good. They removed the bone, cut the duck into slices. The duck skin was real crunchy, and the duck slice has a perfect ratio of meat/fat. The baby bok choy is standard, but at $ 12.50 for a dish of bokchoy, we didn’t dare to leave a single one as left over lol. Overall, good restaurant, not too good price.

This place is so popular! Since I live in the complex of where this restaurant is located, I see tons and tons of families and tour groups come eat at this restaurant on both weekdays and weekends. I even heard my Über/Lyft drivers telling me they just dropped off someone who came all the way from SF to eat here. Guess it must be good? I actually never sat down to eat in the restaurant but I have gotten to-go numerous times. My go-to dishes are the Peking Duck, Smoked Tea Duck, Shredded Duck Rice Noodles and the Poached Fish Filet with Sichuan Hot Oil. The Smoked Tea Duck is really legit and I love the buns with hoison sauce. However, this is a hit or miss because sometimes the pieces of duck are very meaty but other times, the box has 25% meat and 75% bones. I don’t know if it’s the restaurant’s fault though because maybe it was just a slim duck? The fish filet is super spicy and flavorful and also one of my favorites! As for the Peking Duck, since I am a native Beijing-er, I would say the Peking Duck is only OK. I have super high standards and am used to legit Peking Duck from Beijing. But the duck here in comparison to US standards is considered legit.

Me and my coworker came her for dinner on a friday night. It was recommend by a friend of hers. I heard about this place where people told me that i needed to try this place. When we came in we were greeting, we had a waiter and ask what is the most popular dish that people order here she had no idea. So i just order the five spice duck it was fried and dry. The kimichi claypot which came fast like they just premade it. Stinky fish chicken tofu i didnt taste the fish. The vegetarian potstickers i thought it was just okie. I think people just come here because they not many asian restaurants out there in palo alot that is good and reasonable price. The food is just not as good, i would not come back. Worse customer service they forgot to give my friend her credit card back. It was just chaotic in that restaurant and the bathroom is so dirty.

On average. This was on my commute for years but I didn’t try for some reason. I finally had dinner here tonight. Peking Duck(half, $ 17) was actually good, although the portion was small. Noodles/fried rice were okay. The service was okay. Everything was on average = 3 stars.

In brief: Great duck, awful service. I normally go with my family to a different Chinese restaurant to get Peking Duck; however, we decided to go a little bit further out to get some duck from Peking Duck Restaurant(aptly named). I guess I’ll start with the good which is that the food was delicious. The duck had a really nice, crispy skin on it and it was extremely flavorful which was great for me. I really enjoyed the duck and it was much better in terms of food quality than the other Chinese restaurant I frequent. However, the service was just flat out not good. The server got very confused on our order and told us that we would get one small bowl of soup for $ 8(which surely couldn’t have been true). Turns out we got one big bowl of soup that filled four smaller bowls of soup. She also came over before we were done eating and asked if we were finished with our food and ready for a check, which I felt was really rude. Oh, and it was really cold because they just turned the heater on so it wasn’t on all the way yet. So all in all, it was really good food, but ruined by the service. Also: I never really understood why they show you the duck if they don’t cut it in front of you. Surely they can just switch out the duck for a different one if they really wanted to and you would have no idea right?

You can get the same food from Panda Express at half price. This place is no longer the famous old Peking Duck restaurant on El Camino. It moved to Jade Garden and changed chief. Most dishes are overpriced and small portion. If you like Peking Duck, go to any Chinese seafood restaurant and you dont need to pay $ 35 for a duck or $ 50 for plus a soup.

We had a nice post meeting dinner here with a large group. Nothing was a huge standout but service was friendly and they graciously handled the demands of out group(which involved us switching tables).

Snuggled in a little complex is Peking Duck Restaurant… obviously known for their Peking Duck, I expected a little more. I guess because I’m from Hawaii, I expect more duck and a more flavorful duck. This duck is very similar to the one actually served in Beijing! Half an order consisted of slices of duck with the skin on… my reaction is… Where’s the rest of the duck? On the brighter side, we also had a crispy noodle dish which I enjoyed a lot and a chow fun dish. We had a nice egg drop soup, which I think is complimentary… It is a favorite place for my son, so I’m sure we will be back.

Four of us thought it was time for Chinese. So we headed to this restaurant for dinner. It was a busy place and well patronised, and so being Friday I would suggest the strong patronage was not a surprise. A table was soon found and steady service followed. We started with the Sauteed peas sprouts and they were tasty. The white and brown rice also came at the same time and all of us were complimentary about it’s quality … A little pause and then we enjoyed the steamed sea bass… the sauce was delicious and this dish was very good too. The dish we really came for was the Peking roast duck… and it was good and so too the sauce that came with it. The pan cakes were pretty heavy and not quite as we would have hoped for, none the less we still enjoyed the duck experience. We finished off with the deep fried calamari … an ok dish too. A good meal however there was nothing great about it. This would be a venue for an occasional visit but not a regular one.

I ordered half duck which is pretty delicious. The vegetable crab soup is a perfect match for the duck. Quiet and clean, like this place.

Not bad Peking duck, one of the better ones in the south bay area. To make it more spectacular, the restaurant should have trimmed the fat under the skin. In terms of quantity, it’s not a whole lot. But I like that they give you the round crêpe type pancakes instead of the bun. Your meat to wrap ratio is higher that way… I’ve also had a good experience with their yee fu noodle. Texture is not soggy like I’ve had at some other places. Flavors are good. The service was a little bit on the slow side. Dishes were slow to arrive. However, I did make a reservation before coming in, and the lady recognized my voice from the phone. Was kinda nice actually.

I give a four star because the roasted duck is very good and authentic. The one duck three courses is very good for a group of three. However, the other duck courses do not taste good. Since the duck course is pretty small, we ordered several different ones last time because we have four people. Only the Peking duck is delicious, none of the other ones tastes good. The servers are also pretty slow. Prepare to wait for more than half an hour before the food comes.

If you don’t want to read a lot– this is what I have to say about this place — do not come here! I personally don’t usually care about the service but this is definitely a new low for any Chinese restaurant. For a Sunday night, there were only two servers serving the entire restaurant(about 20 – 30 tables). I mean it’d be okay if the food was good but the food was terrible. We ordered the $ 50 whole duck with a couple of extra dishes– things came out literally at least 20 minutes apart. I understand that for the Duck since the chef takes back the duck after it’s been deskinned, but the two dishes we ordered took even longer than the duck! This is the most ridiculous experience at any restaurant I’ve ever been to. The entire meal took over 2 hours. Not worth it. DONOTCOMEHERE!

probably the best chinese food in in Palo Alto, Sunnyvale, Mountain View. prices are solid, and food is pretty much on point for being REAL chinese food. not american chinese food for the most part. obviously chinese food in china is entirely different these days but you get my drift. if 90% of the clientele are non english speakers you know you’ve found the right place. had the mongolian beef here… amazing lunch special came with tomato egg drop soup… amazing

A friend of mine told me this is the best Peking duck in the area, and my husband and stepdad are huge duck lovers, so I thought this would make a good choice for lunch today. I checked Unilocal,of course, and was kind of confused by the reviews — many 4 – 5 star, and then suspiciously a lot of 1 stars, especially recently. I chalked it up to maybe people just are super sensitive about how asian restaurants can be about service. I usually don’t care about service — especially if they’re just a little rude and quick with you, but you get your food at a reasonable pace. First the food. Poor to mediocre. We did get the«whole» peking duck which is $ 34 now, not $ 32 like it seems from other reviews. I had high hopes from the reviews at least about the duck, but it was probably just okay in taste, and expensive. My family is from Beijing, so we know what Peking duck is supposed to taste like. This is not even close. First, the duck is fatty — the skin is not crispy like it’s supposed to be. You get a little plate of it… we’ve carved ducks from Marina or Ranch 99 to doing peking duck at home, and this is like half the amount. One plate — about enough for 2. The flavor is not authentic either(the Ranch 99 one is a closer approximation although since definitely not the same as real Peking duck either), you can taste the five spice seasoning on it… traditional peking duck doesn’t usually have that. The cleaning wasn’t perfect either. someone had mentioned that earlier, and I wasn’t sure about it. but there was a piece that had a lot of spiky feather ends on it. The pancakes… kind of dried out, not fresh, and way too big. Like twice the size they’re supposed to be. The cucumber, onions, and sauce, you need to ask for a refill to make it through the duck… but this is a problem because of the service which I’ll get into later. We definitely have better tasting duck at home — just get one from the grocer, thin shave it, and then put it in the toaster oven. One of those ducks probably costs about $ 17 and will feed 4 instead of 2 like this duck, and tastes better. The other food we got, mushu pork — was kind of burnt tasting, good amount though. We got a tofu and eggplant claypot — which was very tasty, but the amount was pretty pathetic for the price — like most restaurants I’d expect twice as much. The appetizers, we got the spicy oil wonton, which was good, but a little cold. We also got a jellyfish cucumber appetizer… which was not great at all. Not very crunchy like jellyfish usually is, and there was hardly any cucumber. Flavor wasn’t great either… kind of just salty without any other distinct flavors — like vinegar or spiciness like it usually has. The service. Terrible. The worst I’ve experience in years… and the only thing that comes to mind as worst service was about 20 years ago in France, where they basically ignored us. I’m hardly ever am picky about service. They can be rude, or slow… but this was the extreme of both. We got here Sunday around 11:30.and we were one of two parties in the restaurant. We got seated promptly, and I thought hm, this is looking good, maybe all those other reviews were wrong. The brought the appetizers out in like 10 minutes, and then the Peking duck shortly after that. Tea was cold, so we had to ask for that. I had finished my water, and had to ask for a refill too… cup was empty for about 10 minutes, but that was okay, definitely within the realm of reason. Then… there was a huge party of tourists arrived on their tour bus… and that’s when things came crashing down. They served that party super fast, like they were in and out before we even finished our meal. We waited for our other two entrees for at least 30 – 40 more minutes. Basically, we had finished the duck and were just sitting there. We tried to flag down a waiter. and he basically was not making eye contact… just focused on serving the big party. You could see other tables where people are raising their hand up to get their attention. They eventually brought the mushu pork. Oh yeah, I forgot to mention, they brought the wraps for the mushu pork along with the wraps for the duck. So by the time we got the mushu pork, the wrap were already completely cold. Then we’re waiting for the last dish… another 20 minutes probably goes by, and we’re thinking about cancelling it and leaving, but then they finally bring it out. They had brought the rice that goes with the clay pot dish out with the mushu pork, so now that’s cold too. The venue. also something I don’t typically complain much about. Best food is generally from hole in the wall type places. But this place kind of has a mildew type smell, that’s really strong in the bathroom.

My family has been patronizing Peking Duck for years, even at their original location on El Camino. Their food had always been delicious, and I would have to highlight their fish and sticky rice stuffed chicken. But as of late, their service has gone DOWN. They are severely understaffed to the point where there’s only 1 – 2 people who can seat you and take your order. On average days, you’ll have to wait for them to get a chance to get to the front to seat you. That’s even the case if you’re picking up a take out order! During many lunch hours or mid week dinners, you’ll find that Chinese tour buses drop off two table loads of people who walk right in, are served immediately, and leave within 30 min. Since these have been preordered, the kitchen is ready for these groups. Just to demonstrate the lag time on past visits, let me mention that some of our dishes took even an hour to be served because of how busy the kitchen is. When we tried walking up to the kitchen area too ask our server for status, she was then yelled at by the chef/owner. So during our must recent visit, since we noticed it was taking a bit of time time to flag down the server to take our order, we almost walked out. In the end, we 1) opted to order simpler menu items instead of our regulars and 2) told the server we were in a rush to catch a flight to impart a sense of urgency. This did enable us to finish our meal in an hour. Not only is the service lacking(and might I add that they won’t feel the need to hire more staff since the subpar service isn’t affecting their cashflow), but key me emphasize that the kitchen is too busy! We’ve never had a problem in the past, but this time, the soup that we ordered had bits of PLASTIC in it! You could tell that they quickly cut open the bag of frozen or dried veg to throw in the pot; however, the carelessness left over a handful of bits of cut up plastic from the packaging. We didn’t bother mentioning this to them at the time because we didn’t want the chef/owner to yell at the server, like before. It’s too bad that this has happened to Peking Duck, and that we’ll never patronize them again. But for those brave souls out there, my recommendation would be to order via since those offers were promptly ready, awaiting the driver to pick up.

Woohoo! Love the peking duck here which seems to be the specialty. It isnt exactly like traditional peking duck where you just enjoy the skin. They slice the skin with some meat, so you get a nice full mouthful with every bite. The ee fu noodles were really good as well with the dried scallops. It was very tasty. We also really enjoyed the beef tripe in red chilli oil appetizer, as well as the dumpling in red chili oil. Both were very authentic taiwanese. Highly recommended!
