This place recently re-opened as Pompeno Key. They seem to be a bit under staffed. Half our party received food early, and finished eating before the rest. Drinks were not refilled until requested. Hopefully they will get it right soon. This place has always been convenient if you stay at SOP or the Wharf.

After reading the reviews we had some reservations about going there to eat. We decided to give it a try and was pleasantly surprised. I had the bacon wrapped scallops and they were perfectly cooked. My concern was if the bacon would be done enough, but it was perfect. I got the house dressing on my salad and loved it. We went fairly early and were waited on right away and the wait for our food was a reasonable time. Casey was our waiter and he kept checking on us. Based our our experience, I will definitely be going back!

Not worth the money. Way over priced for the quality of food. Service was good but that was it!

June 2016 — NOTTHESAMEPOMPANOKEY. They have completely changed the menu into a much lighter version. Good — Food quality — Short time to be seated Bad — Food Portions — Too pricy for what you get — Service — Small menu Reference — I ordered the Pompano Shrimp meal which was $ 26 without a drink. Drink: $ 2.75. With this I received. — A very light portion salad — Bread — ½ cup size of mashed potatoes — 10 bacon wrapped shrimp

This is the restaurant people are forced to go to because all other surrounding seafood restaurants are at capacity with long waits. First red flag here was that there was no wait. Wait for the food wasn’t long, except for one person in our party whose food came after we all finished our food already. To add insult to injury, no apology and the baked potato came with a plastic packet of sour cream, like the kind you have to tear open and push out! As we were walking out, I noticed a lady complaining that they had been waiting over an hour just to get their food. You’re probably better off going to KFC up the street…

I can only give this place 2 stars because the wait/hostess staff was top notch. That’s where it ends. We ordered the po boys and I didn’t think you could go wrong with that. I was so wrong. No seasoning whatsoever. The bread was horrible and I’ve never seen a po boy with flavorless coleslaw before now. Even the fries lacked seasoning. Two bites in and I realized I couldn’t muscle it down. I hope this is the exception and not the norm. At least for my first/last visit… shame on the kitchen staff and kudos to the wait staff.

We tried this place on a Sunday night during Labor Day weekend we where seated right away at a bar table top(By request) .The décor of the place is very casual. We started with the fried calamari which was very good. I had the a dozen raw oysters and they where extremely fresh and great. They where so good I ordered a second Dozen. My wife ordered the honey chipotle scallops and shrimp with risotto. Great presentation and very tasty scallops cooked perfect the risotto a bit over done but a great dish. My daughter got the applewood bacon wrapped barbecue shrimp with Garlic mashed potatoes(which she said don’t really go with seafood). The shrimp was great! Big plump and full of flavor. My son had the crab legs and they where large and he seemed to like them also came with the mashed potatoes which once agin didn’t really go with the meal. The service was great they do a great job managing the large crowed that flowed in and they stay calm and receptive. It took a bit to get the food but it was manly because of the volume of customers. The servers did a great job of keeping you in the loop and making sure your drinks were always filled. Prices are a little high but if you want to have that really good seat down meal in Panama at the end of your vacation this would be the place.

Don’t come here. Wait staff is great, but the food is definitely not worth the money. Terrible.

Amazing service We where greeted warmly and sat promptly by the hostess. Our server was Tammy, who had a warm smile and guided us through the menu making wonderful suggestions and described every special to the tee! When our food arrived it was presented with a beautiful presentation and a palette to match. I had the shrimp and scallops with the vegetable risotto, flavors were extremely well balanced and the textures well presented, the crisp onions on the top added a perfect contrast. My guest had the black grouper pasta and was extremely pleased with the quality of the dish. We finished with the dark chocolate crème brûlée which was creamy smooth and the sugar was perfectly brûléed on the top . Chef Paul you have done it! Thank you to you and your staff for a wonderful evening!

The menu is great, our food was fresh, the service was quality and they accommodated our large loud group. We are locals so our expectations were high for fresh seafood which has become surprising harder to find in the tourist area of PCB. The prices may seem on the high end to some people, but fresh seafood simply IS expensive. Therefore, I felt comfortable that the prices are in line with the cost of food. We will be back to this restaurant again as soon as the summer traffic is gone. Cheers!

We had high expectations for the reopened Pompano’s now with the Chef from Firefly, unfortunately it has a long way to go. On the food side, everything was very good. we had the Black Grouper and Crab cakes. Both were perfectly prepared and excellent. So why the 3 stars, everything else. For a restaurant with prices ranging from $ 25 — $ 35 a dish, this place misses the mark. It seems like nothing was done to update or clean the inside before reopening as Pompano Key. When you first walk in there is a portable air conditioner right in the main entrance to the dining room. There are about 4 different mismatched dark wooden floors that are not even. Worse, they were not clean. You could clearly see areas that had been cleaned and areas that were dusty/dirty. They have a nice view out on to a lake, but the windows were filthy. Not just some water spots, but clearly built up grime. The bathrooms were even worse. They were right out of the 70s and the door had dirty hand prints on it. When the dinning area we can see is like this, it makes us wonder what the kitchen looks like. Service was just so-so. We arrived early on a Friday night and they were less than ½ full. We got our menus and drinks quickly, but then the waiter seemed to be gone forever before he came back to take our order. The food came out quickly, but our drink glasses set empty the entire meal even though our waiter stopped by twice and said he would be right back to fill our glasses.‘ For a restaurant at this price point, we expect better. We are locals and there are other options in PCB for good seafood, we won’t be back.
