My wife, two children and I have eaten here frequently over the last several years. I don’t get by very often for breakfast, but I have frequented it for lunch and especially dinner. Whenever I give my two daughters the option of where to eat dinner this is always the first thing out of their mouths. The food is always prepared well, to temperature, and with very generous portions. I can honestly say I have sampled most of the menu over the last several years without disappointment. Tonight I had the goulash with two eggs over medium, one of my daughters had a cheeseburger w/fries, the other one had a chocolate chip waffle and sausage patties. My mother and stepfather, who were first timers this evening, had a western omelette with grits and sweet tea and a big bacon patty melt with onion rings and sweet tea. Again my daughters and I were extremely satisfied while my mother and stepfather came away very impressed. I would be remiss if I did not thank Brandon our server and whoever tonight’s cook was, for opening the doors to the restaurant for my stepfather, who is in a wheelchair, when I was unaware that they had arrived.

We loved it! My husband and I both have their famous hamburger and it was fabulous.

This place was pretty good. I ordered a pecan waffle and a side of biscuits and gravy for my daughter. My only complaint is the smell. We left smelling like grease and it stuck around for the rest of the day. I can’t stand that smell. I think they need more air flow through the restaurant.

Excellent breakfast but if this place isn’t edging the line towards the, uh Casa de Waffle, I would be surprised. The layout is the same though the menu is slightly different. There’s still a lot of hash browns and waffles going on here but they don’t sell ‘em «smothered and covered.» Of course, I went with the non-omelet which as you’ll see from the picture is a bunch of food. Start with a big circle of hashbrowns. Add some eggs, cheese ans sausage. When it’s properly cooked, flip it in half like an omelet and then put it on a very big plate. It was very tasty with plenty of cheese and lots of sausage. This is something you don’t eat every day unless you want to be the size of a Waffle House. Oops, I said it. Great fast service. a Very good meal!

Yum yum yum! Went to ohio the day before and it was NOT good. The Waffle Shoppe is delicious. Eggs, grits and bacon were very good.

I’m giving this restaurant two stars. Not because the food was bad. The food was delicious. Perfect eggs, my country friend steak was perfect, my hashbrowns were perfect, and the toast was toasted to perfection. Although the food was good, the staff did not cooperate well with at least 4 customers while I was dining there. There were arguments and drama between the staff as well. I would recommend this diner for someone looking for a quick breakfast.

I’m not sure how my fellow Unilocalers gave this place 4 ½ stars, but it was simply not good. How can a place called the Waffle Shoppe have the worst waffles I have ever tasted. They looked like thin frozen waffles and tasted like cardboard. The hashbrowns were soggy and limp with a strange taste as well. The bacon and eggs were decent and the service was great, but I would suggest eating here at your own risk.

Found by accident like many good places. This is like a Waddle house but without the layers of grease, sticky menus and burnt coffee. The food was fantastic. I had the speciality breakfast Goulash and it was very good. The service was also quick and easy. The place was full when we got there at 7am and everybody was working and serving smoothly w/o all the chaos of some restaurants. We will be back.

Usually not a big fan of Waffle House, but this place has really changed my opinion! Very friendly staff and pretty good food! I had chocolate chip waffles that were fluffy and yummy, and perfect hash browns! My boyfriend loved his smothered and covered hash browns with bacon and said the only downside was that the eggs were a little rubbery. Other than that, a good experience!

This place is great! Even though there was a huge crowd the staff was flipping tables like hotcakes. Everyone seemed to know their job and were executing their task flawlessly. We had Robin as our waitress and she was fantastic. I dont believe my drink ever went halfway empty. She was very attentive but no overly attentive. Now the gem of this establishment besides the food is the structure of the cooks. There were three gentlemen working on orders together and it was like watching a work of art being laid out. The guys never seemed to get backed up even though a line stayed at the door waiting to be seated. My wife had the non omelet and I had the steak and eggs. Our food was amazing! After eating here for the first time I can see why the parking lot was full. I wont be going anywhere else in this area for breakfast. Thank you staff of waffle shoppe for making dreams come true.

I agree with the previous review. It’s like an upgraded Waffle House and has less menu items but better quality food. Our dishes were cooked well and not saturated in butter or oil. Their fluffy omelette was delicious and the gravy on my husband’s dish was really good as well. It’s a great place to eat for breakfast and I appreciate that they open earlier than other places

Best fluffy omelet. Don’t go to huddle house or waffle house if this is close by. Non Omelet is good, also.

This place is like an upgraded version of Waffle House! I was delightfully surprised by the great the food and service here. Service was quick and the food portions were huge! We ordered 4 entrees for 5 people and all had more than enough to eat. The prices were very cheap for the amount of food that they give you. The only thing that wasn’t that great was the ribeye steak, chewy and overcooked. The fluffy omelets were a bit too cheesy for my liking but the portion of grits made up for that. The non-omelette was a huge stuffed hashbrown that can be shared. The crinkle fries that accompany many entrees were also very tasty! I highly recommend this place for breakfast, lunch or dinner! Wish they had one in Atlanta!

We were looking for a quick breakfast but something good and found the waffle shoppe. My wife had the pecan waffle and it was really good. There others had your standard breakfast items. Everything was good and the price was in line.

I admit up front, I know some of the fine folks that work at the 23rd Street Waffle Shoppe so please excuse any unintended bias and allow me to tell you about my experiences as a customer in this World Famous Panama City Diner. I get the chance to frequent the Waffle Shoppe when in Panama City visiting family and it is always a pleasure. I’m always struck by how down to earth and sincere all of the employees are. It’s apparent within a few minutes of walking into the Waffle Shoppe that there is a great sense of pride in work ethic and community not only among the employees, but also by the local regulars. The Manager Bruce Benedict sets the example and works hard to make sure the Waffle Shoppe is truly one of the most welcoming places I have ever been. The food is always excellent. I almost always go for the one and only Non-Omelet. Its hash browns seared together with eggs, cheese and a few meat or veggie extras. I’m a vegetarian so I get mine with tomatoes, green peppers, onions and jalapeños. I’ve considered moving to Panama City simply to have a Non-Omelet only minutes away 7 days a week since I pretty much crave it year-round. Its good for breakfast, lunch and dinner and it really has no equal. If that doesn’t sound like something you’d go for, there’s plenty of other stuff on the menu. I hear the Mediterranean Burger is a crowd favorite; they have a whole section of other signature sandwiches on their menu. I’ve also heard people rave about the Waffles, Goulash and their other breakfast fare. It takes me a long time to pick what I want, but I’m never disappointed. The décor speaks to local pride in community and service and the classic diner feel is complete with your choice of booth, table or counter seating, an open-kitchen and a steady supply of hot coffee and sweet tea. It is military-friendly and is frequented by many local veterans. The prices and portions are more than fair and if you come in more than once people start to remember your name and your story pretty quickly. Seriously skip the chains and try the 23rd Street Waffle Shoppe whether you’re a local or just passing through. Try the Non-Omelet.
