I can’t even give this place one star! My husband and I stopped in for breakfast on a recent road trip. My husband had the steak and eggs, I had the American. I explained to the waitress that my eggs needed to be over medium with no runny white… they came runny(like snot). The waitress took them back and when she returned the yolks and whites were as hard as rocks… I said nothing more about the eggs. Hubby had sourdough toast, I had white. The toast came mixed up on one plate and you couldn’t tell what was what. Hubby ate all of my toast by mistake. Hubby had to go and get his own steak-sauce for his steak. We had to ask another waitress for some more coffee… it never came. Our waitress never came to check and see how we were doing or if we needed anything. After she brought our food she never stopped back by our table except when she brought the check. She did ask then how the eggs were and I said«not good and you were a terrible waitress»! She stormed off and had another girl take our money when we went to pay. I told my husband not to leave a tip… she didn’t earn a tip. She heard me say this and came back with a smart remark that her coworkers heard. I have been a waitress before and if I get good service I tip up to 20%. My husband left her a $ 1. because his food was OK.

Great place for breakfast lunch or dinner in Panguitch. Very clean restaurant and bathrooms. Friendly staff and an excellent kitchen. The food is fresh and very good. They have a great salad bar that is kept fresh and clean. My husband had a burger that he said was the best he has had in a small town diner.

Visited this place two times. First time I had a tasty trout with self-made mashed potatoes. Second time I ordered hamburger w/an additional patty and fries. Both times the waitresses were really nice and ordered food arrived at our table quickly. Would visit it again.

I came to this place after trying to eat at flying m but giving up because the service was terrible. This place was the opposite, the service was excellent, waitress couldn’t have done a better job. The food was dinner type food, I had the ham scramble I think it was called. It was a generous portion size and came with hash and toast. Not fine dining but it tasted good and was very reasonably priced. The best thing was the coffee, they have an espresso machine! Double latte was excellent and made a nice change from the filter coffees

Breakfast, breakfast, breakfast! I mean, I’m sure they’re doing some things for dinner(I see signs of a mean prime rib and salad bar) but for me, the story was breakfast. We got up early at Bryce Canyon and meandered into town looking for somewhere to fill the tank, and fill it for the day. That’s exactly what we got with Kenny Rays. As I was traveling with a Canadian, I feel obliged to first let you know that you’re probably going to get some American portion sizes here. That’s exactly what I wanted, but even for my American portion sized appetite, I definitely got my money’s worth with that big Country Fried Steak and Eggs option. We’re talking about a big ol’ hand breaded steak, eggs, gravy, hash browns, and some toast. I didn’t eat lunch that day – which is actually a double deal when you consider I had a late breakfast that covered two meals and I only spent $ 11 + t/t. My Canadian co-pilot ordered The American, naturally, which is two eggs, bacon, choice of sausage or ham, hash browns, and toast. I ended up helping her Canadian appetite by finishing some of it, but that was a steal at $ 7. The server couldn’t have been nicer, and they were very quiet on a weekday morning. My bet is that they pick up as the summer comes on – you should check to make sure they’re open in winter months. The best that I can piece together is that they closed for a few months during Dec/Jan/Feb in the tourist off season. From what I can tell, they’re actually pretty new in this space; it’s right on the main street in a cuter part of town, and although the exterior isn’t fantastic, the interior looks to have recently been repainted and redesigned and is much more modern than a name like«The Original Kenny Rays» portends. For breakfast, it’s all you want and need in a small town diner stop. I’d love to come back through for a later meal and see how lunch or dinner stack up.

Visiting from California on the tail end of a week road trip. The original place we wanted to go to was closed so we came over here. The food was pretty decent, nothing spectacular but nothing terrible either. Not much selection for breakfast but still good. Service was very friendly which is super important at 7am after a long drive. $ 22 out the door for 2 people. Thanks!

Stopped here on our way to Arizona for lunch. We had hamburger and it was one of the best hamburger I have ever had. French fries is an excellent choice of side dish and the banana raspberry pie was excellent. Our waitress was very friendly also and the dinner very clean.

Clean friendly service with decent food– 4 stars. There are not a lot of choices around this area, especially in the winter. Many stores are closed. So after driving around and starving in frustration for awhile, I have to admit that this review is probably slightly biased. The good: Ok prices, open during times you need a place, large portions, very crispy fries any anything fried. I opted for the chicken wrap bc well. that’s impossible to mess up so it was at my expectation. The ranch dressing is runny so it get messy after a few bites. The bf got the country fried steak. It was decent but pricy for what you get. The servers are very friendly. The wall is painted super cute with local landmarks. The bad: The veggie side dish is definitely previously frozen so I wouldn’t eat those. The french onion soup tasted okay but is seriously lacking in substance. It’s kinda just a broth. So not bad considering there are not a lot of options around. It wouldn’t be my first choice in food but definitely a good backup plan.

I am sad, right now, thinking about the poor fools who go to the fast food joint down the street rather than coming here. The place is clean, the staff was super-friendly, and the Reuben I had was incredible! My mother said the chicken and rice soup was excellent, too. Definitely give this place a chance!

We stopped here in November for breakfast on our way out of Bryce Canyon. For a small town diner, it deserved 4 stars. Service was great! Restrooms were super clean. I highly recommend the scrambled eggs with ham. Meat cut from a bone-in ham, not canned. Waitress said that they get all their meat from Kanab Butchers. Portions are huge! Sharing recommended.

Kenny Rays is one of only a few eating places in town, and one of extremely few places to find breakfast. The good news was, we had a great breakfast. Yes, maybe it is a very small menu, but they serve huge, delicious pancakes, big slices of superb bacon and, well, the eggs were a bit overcooked. They serve Boyds coffee, that’s good, but they could have done a bit better with keeping the cups full. They were hurting for servers, got slammed when we arrived, so the service was quite slow. Later, a second server arrived to pick up the slack. $ 11.95 for sharing a breakfast, plus we added extra bacon and 2 coffees. Really not bad, and definitely would do this again.

Don’t let the exterior fool you. Inside this is a cool diner with modern décor and good food at reasonable prices.

Not great, but it is expensive for what you get. The main dishes were fine, but the side dishes that accompanied them were cold and not appetizing. The trout was good. The burger was… a burger. The salads included brownish iceberg lettuce and an assortment of other vegetables. The bleu cheese dressing appeared to a bland mixture of mayo and chunks of a cheesy substance which could not be positively identified as bleu cheese. I get that it’s a small town diner, but I could have spent nearly the same money and done much better at the Cowboy Smokehouse directly across the street. The service was good and the folks were friendly, but the food wasn’t good. $ 45 for a burger, 2 chicken fingers and trout seemed a little high, which would have been fine if the food would have been of better quality.

This place is good, really — after reading earlier reviews, I was nervous… but after eating here twice for both lunch and dinner(not too many options in this town, especially with other restaurants closed for vacation, etc), I felt the current average to be way too low for this pleasant, polite, clean and tasty establishment. It’s simple yet flavorful food, and the service was great! Dinner specials were delicious and a great deal. We had the half roasted chicken special and the grilled pork chops special. Pork chops were grilled with a nice char, and the roast chicken tender and yummy. Dnner specials come with a visit to the salad/soup bar and are served with yellow rice, steamed baby carrots, a watermelon slice, and a choice of side such as baked potato, mashed potatoes, cole slaw, potato salad, French fries. Mashed potatoes were buttery chunky red new potatoes(no instant junk here), and the baked potato came with sour cream and clarified butter on the side. The raspberry banana cream pie was AMAZING, and I wish we could have tried more of their homemade pies. Definitely a must. For lunch, we had the NY Strip Steak dinner plate as well as the chicken sandwich. Like earlier reviews, the steak is cooked exactly to order but the cut of meat is not so great. My chicken sandwich was basic but well cooked and satisfying. Fries were crispy, and the cole slaw freshly made. Service was good — friendly, timely, polite, knowledgeable about the food and the area. Food came out very fast, and our two waitresses both checked in shortly after we’d tried our food. I think the kinks from opening have definitely been worked out, and folks should feel free to come in for a bite with confidence.

Everything was perfectly prepared… we had a variety of breakfast options. The steak was just as ordered, the quality of the cut on the other hand was awful. I’ve never had a steak with so much gristle. The overall temperature of the food was cool by the time it reaches out table. There were 5 of us so maybe they were waiting to going it all out together, but I don’t like cold steak & eggs. The portion size is fantastic & the price isn’t bad but they’ve got to get better product & a warning light or something. My husband ordered the same thing, his was also cooked perfectly as ordered, but the steak was gristly & the plate was also served cool. Maybe they’re ironing out the kinks still… we’ll definitely go back again simply because the chef knows what he’s doing & like I said you get a decent amount of food! Some different bagel flavors(aside from plain) would be nice too!

Don’t eat here, eat anywhere else but here. I would recommend McDonald’s over this place. 4 of us ate there for lunch today and food was atrocious. Staff was nice, but steak was very bad.

5÷30÷2015 they just opened 2 weeks ago. They are still working out the kinks but this is a great place. It is family run. Great place for breakfast. Good coffee. Best pancakes we have ever had. We highly recommend this place. We would come back. Wish we had dinner here last night instead of the place across the street. We wish them success.
