John was very helpful in getting us a car home port adapter. He showed us all the options and what they’d be in terms of price and ability. He also had a sweet beard. Party on John.

I’ve lived in Paradise ten years now and visited the Radio Shack store at least five times. Now I realize as well as anyone that the nature of most brick and mortar stores has changed. Stores no longer carry large selections of products and, because every retailer is a slave to Wall Street and quarterly growth, they most likely never will again.(Which is, of course, part of the reason for their demise) So each of those times I’ve visited, I’ve left without what I came for. I then went and ordered it from Amazon. Usually for less than it would have been available for locally anyway. Today was no different. I went looking for a simple power cable. Instead of ordering last night from Amazon with overnight shipping(total of $ 9), I went to Radio Shack. I walked past the half — of — the — store sized display of cell phones and to the counter. «Can I help you?» «Yes, I’m looking for a two-pronged non-polarized power cord.» From the expression, I might have been speaking Klingon. I saw a display of power cords on the wall and checked them out. Four of the ten or so available were actually the exact same item, spread out, I’m guessing, to take up space. All four were polarized. The rest were three pronged. As I looked at those, I realized they were all the same thing, too. So in a four square foot display with a dozen or so products hung on separate pegs, there was actually only two different items. Oh, and they were $ 10. Wow. I drove six and a half miles to what is really just another cell phone store to once again find nothing. Shame on me. I ordered one from Amazon for $ 5 plus $ 4 overnight shipping. It almost seems like they want to close. What happened to Radio Shack? REAL electronic items? Gone. Employees with any idea of what little they carry? Gone. Our economy may have changed but there is still room — maybe more than ever — for well-stocked specialty stores with informed employees. Radio Shack is NOT that place.

Not a whole lot to choose from, a little pricey in most cases. Staff is usally hepful.
