This location is worse than the one on Route 17… Attempted to buy some gear but the staff was made out of invisibility.
Either that or I was made out of invisibility.
I don’t think the latter is the case though because I was able to use my rear view mirror to apply eyeliner.
Two strikes, you’re out Guitar Center.
I am done trying to give you any of my money…

I was looking for an affordable steel string guitar to replace my old nylon one. I found this beautiful black Ibanez guitar. I gave it a try and it sounded magnificent. Remember I was looking for an affordable guitar. It sounded so great I immediately assumed it was going to range to about $ 300-​$ 350. I looked for a tag indicating the price and I was shocked when I saw the retail price. $ 199… «Unbelievable», I thought. This couldn’t possibly be that inexpensive for a guitar like this. I purchased it and I’m still loving the sound of it. :D

Smoked a real quick cigar out front first. Walked in and met a few nice men who knew all about instraments. They said nice things about my KISS pants. Educated me all about guitar. Let me wail on those strings for a bit and didn’t mind too much that I was getting lots of feedback. Another man came in and we played some pink Floyd song together. Such a fine place to buy a 6 string. Also purchase a few amps and about twelve petals. Got some straps, a fender tee (you bet I’m rippin those sleeves right off ;-)) and a nifty hat that said led zep. Staff were mad cool and helped me slam all those amps in the back of the rental van. Please support if you believe rock not dead!!!

This store was unbelievably sexist — holy crap. Myself and my friend (both women) were asked by a salesperson if we were starting a «girl band» while we were guitar shopping. Then the man at the front asked «are you going to try to learn to play guitar?» as we walked out. We have both been playing guitar for over a decade. This store needs some serious education about how to deal with female customers, because this experience was totally insulting and made them look archaic and rude. Get with the times, dudes. Will not return.

This review is directory towards one employee rather than the whole store… nonetheless, I will never do business at this Guitar Center again.
I called the store recently because I wanted to purchase a used guitar that was shown on guitarcenter.com’s used gear page. I spoke to the Assistant Manager Jesse M. I told him that I was interested in a guitar I saw on GC’s website, but that I lived in Cherry Hill (about 2 and a half hour drive away) so I couldn’t play the guitar before buying. I asked him if he could describe the condition of the guitar to me. I’ve done this at least 80 other times with different Guitar Center’s around the country over the past few years.
Anyway, after talking to him for more than 5 min about the guitar, I told him that I wanted to order it. I tried to negotiate a little off the price. He quickly cut me off and said that the guitar would sell before he lowered the price and then he said that I could just log into
to order the guitar from there. In the 80+ other times I’ve done this, not once has someone told me to do that. And it makes sense, if you’re in sales and have someone on the phone saying they wanted to buy something, never steer them away. Take the order right there and then. Who knows what they will do after they get off the phone with you.
I was having problems with the website so I called back. I spoke to Jesse again and asked that before I placed the order, he could take a few pics of the guitar and send them to me. This shouldn’t be so hard to do… the way I look at it, he’s only spending 15 min on an order that he did next to nothing to make. He would get the commission on something he really didn’t have to sell… just take a few pics. His response, «(sigh…) well, you’re going to have to wait because I’m busy over here».
I told him that wasn’t a problem and proceeded to give him my email address… the whole time, his tone of voice was getting more impatient and condescending. It seemed like he was just trying to get me off the phone. Bottom line… he was rude and I was probably the worst GC rep I have ever spoken to… Ever.
While waiting for the pics, I still had a hard time logging onto the website, so I contacted
with the intent to place the order over the phone. As I was talking to the rep, I told him about my phone call with Jesse and he was in shock. He immediately put me in touch with another rep who I believe was some kind of quality control for GC. He said that he would look into it.
No more than 10 min later, I got a phone call/​vmail from Jesse. His tone was completely different. He immediately apologized and said that he thought I was from the Cherry Hill Guitar Center. Which, of course, is a lie. If I were from another store, I would have given him my store ID and an item number. I didn’t have either when I called. He was acting like my best friend and told me that I would take a little off the price of the guitar. I ended up buying the guitar because I really wanted it, but I was shocked at his crappy demeanor over the phone and then how he tried to cover it up with a lie.
Unreal… I’ll stick to my local GC (or elsewhere) from now on.
I’m sure this store is fine, but don’t do business with Jesse. Unprofessional and apparently doesn’t want to take your order anyway. He’d rather you just go online or take your business elsewhere.

I lucked out with a knowledgeable, but more importantly decent, salesperson; Chris. The sales staff here work on commission so their incentive is to sell high ticket instrument/​equipment/​models. Chris, however, knew what I needed/​wanted and did not push for more. Granted, my final tab (not referring to guitar tabs) put a dent in my wallet. But musical instruments/​equipment has always been expensive. Moreover, Chris was very knowledgeable in music. He answered all of my questions. I look forward to doing more business with Chris at this Guitar Center.
Could I have saved 15%-20% purchasing online. Possibly. But I would not have received valuable care instructions on my new equipment. Also, I prefer to carry out and bring home fragile items from a store rather than risk damage from ups delivery/​shipment. Ordering books online; yes. Fragile musical instrument/​equipment online; no thanks.
My purchase experience here at Guitar Center was satisfactory. And how often can you say that about an arms-​length, commissioned based transaction. Not too often I bet. It is all about dealing with a decent, knowledgeable salesperson. Ask for Chris.
