Holiday Inn Express Paramus

So I was having a drink at the bar – alone – and this alien approached me. She started talking to me. She bought me a drink, and then… I think she must’ve used some kind of a ray, or a mind-​control device, because she forced me to follow her to her room, and that’s where she told me about the end of the world.
edit: it might’ve been a room on the spacecraft made up to look like a room at the Holiday Inn. I can’t be sure about that.

Really liked the place, just one problem. Please be cautious of aliens at the bar. They like to buy you drinks and take you back to their hotel room and tell you stories about the end of the world. I’m pretty sure it was the hotel room… or maybe it was a room on the alien ship made up to look like the hotel room. I cant be sure.

This is your basic Holiday Inn Express. It’s friendly and comfortable, but no-​frills. It’s exactly what a chain hotel should be: consistent. You can walk in knowing it’s exactly like any other Holiday Inn Express in the country. Our room was clean and didn’t skeeve me out at all. I did a few dust checks and found nothing. I didn’t even feel weird bathing my daughter in the tub. I like the Bath & Body Works products provided.
When we first got to our tom the key card didn’t work. A maintenance person noticed immediately and opened it with his master card. He then went to the front desk and came back minutes later with a working card.
Their continental breakfast was more than adequate. There’s even a small gym and computer for guest use. You’re not going to find anything better for the price. It’s right across from Ikea, for those that appeals to. They also offered evening pancakes in the month of August. This location is convenient to both New Jersey and New York. I’ve stayed here several times and will again when visiting family.

My room was clean and quiet. There was adequate parking. There was no charge for the parking. The free breakfast was a typical holiday inn breakfast. The hotel is a two-​story very long rectangular building. The parking lot is a circle around the hotel. Use caution because all traffic drives counterclockwise around the hotel. The parking also circles the building. The rooms appear to not have been updated recently and the lighting in the rooms appears to be from the 60s. The long hallways that extend the length of the building have low drop ceiling tiles and ancient looking carpeting. There is free coffee, hot tea with lemon and oatmeal packages 24 hours. The hotel is directly across the street from IKEA. It is a short drive to many restaurants and stores. Front desk staff is friendly and helpful. Not a fancy hotel but not bad for a few days.

This place is not a bad place at all for a few nights. Its located 45 to 50 minutes away from NYC by car. It all depends on traffic of course! This location is clean, up to date and literally an express.
Pros:
–Clean establishment.
–Located near various malls, across the street from IKEA, various shops, restaurants, etc.
–The staff was friendly and helpful.
–Plenty of available parking.
–Secure and comfortable location.
–A tiny workout room is available with some cardio equipment.
–The perfect place to stay for a quick visit or business.

We stayed here on a Saturday night while visiting the NYC area. This Holiday Inn is located right off the highway so you’ll need to make sure you aren’t going too fast if you want to catch the entrance, though if you do, you can just take the road next to it as it leads into the parking lot. Because of its location, you should expect to hear some highway noise at night, but nothing really that noticeable, at least from our room.
Our room (#113) was good, but the beds were great. If it weren’t for the two kids… I’m sure the beds would have been more relaxing. I’m not a fan of tall beds, and these beds are HIGH; almost as tall as my 4-y.o. We had to stack the pillows on one side just in case any of the kids rolled off during the night. Good thing there were 4 plush pillows though.
The room was equipped with an AC/​Heater wall unit, but because the windows appeared to be bolted shut — for security reasons I’m sure — we couldn’t get any real ventilation in the room. I don’t recall seeing a ventilation or fresh air setting on the controls. Mini-​fridge and free wi-​fi in the room was convenient, as was the extra plugs on the night stand for your electronic devices. I liked the fact that they had round the clock coffee in the breakfast area. There was also a water cooler (hot/​cold) which was convenient for that late-​night bowl of instant noodles.
Breakfast was not bad, but considering it was complimentary, I thought it was great. One less thing to have to deal with in the morning! If there is one thing I could change though, I would recommend the staff always wear a smile. Though the receptionist I checked out with was not rude… she certainly didn’t make an effort to smile.
I would stay here again.

Let see the room smelled like fish. We got bumped from our 2 bed room because we booked with Orbitz, the person behind the desk said she could put us were the wanted. We were told that we had a pullbout couch, we did not. We had to pay for a cot $ 10. We got bumped from our room for high school trip. The breakfast was aweful. The milk and yogurt cool was really warm. Oh ya the power went out. Turning in from or out to RT 17 is really hard for people not used to that kind of driving. Oh ya the fish celler had no power one night.

This hotel was amazing. After coming from a night at a hotel that I was scared to go in the shower without my flip flops on, I was greeted by an EXTREMELY friendly front desk guy. He gave me a great recommendation for where to eat dinner. The bed was extremely comfy and the shower had great water pressure. The whole hotel was clean and very welcoming. I would recommend this hotel to anyone who will be staying in the area!

Stayed for two weeks with a retail team. Great staff, very accommodating to our needs. The hotel is clean and well kept. Definitely would stay here again !

Bad stay…
I stayed here for two days while I was in town on business this month. I stayed in (136) which was down the far end of the hotel.
The room itself had water leaks (see photos),
The table lamps buy the bed would not work properly when they were plugged into the outlet behind the bed which required me to unplug one from the outlet behind the bed and plug it in on the square box next to the bed (see photos).
The parking lot was POORLY managed leaving thick frozen over slushy ice which then was hidden by another two inches of snow which was not plowed either!
Now for the WORST PART… On three separate occasions on my second day there, my room key would not work. This may not seem like such a big problem but when you can’t get in the building and your forced to walk in heals (while it’s very cold) through their poorly maintained parking lot all the way up to the main desk to get it reset.
I was told that my card needed to be reprogrammed because I had supposedly put it too close to my car keys, credit card or cell phone. Since I couldn’t be sure I hadn’t done that the first time I though OK, they system is really outdated (I’ve never had this problem anywhere else) but at-​least I know to keep it by itself… Unfortunately, it didn’t matter, the card went blank two more times despite my being careful not to put it near anything electronic. Mind you this occurred THREE TIMES IN ONE DAY!
After the third time and again when I checked out I requested that the hotel refund me the cost of a portion of my stay, I got a voicemail and then this email from the manager Victoria:
«I hope you are doing great today. I would like to apologize for the incovenience that you had while staying with us for two nights. Unfortunately our room keys if you place them next to a credit card, set of car keys or cell phone that will deactivate them. I believe that was the problem with the room keys. Again I am sorry about the incovenience. Again thank you very much for staying with us and I hope you give us another opportunity to stay with us on your next trip to the area. If you have any further questions please do not hesitate to contact me.»
Needless to say I contacted her & again said I was asking for a partial refund her response via email was:
«I hope you are doing great today. Thank you very much for replying back. I apologize again for all the incovenience. After speaking with my manager unfortunately we are not going to be able to do any refund back to you credit card. If you have any further questions please do not hesitate to contact me.»
The problem is what Victoria considers as an «inconvenience» I experience as a safety issue compounded by awful customer service.
All that and I let her know this response was not acceptable, it’s now been more than a week and despite my attempts to follow up and letting her know I would be filing complaints through multiple outlets, Victoria has not responded.

Stayed on dec. 28. In town for giants game. Took care of us without reservation. Decent price. Breakfast was good. Just be sure to get it early. Picked over by 10am. Clean room with no surprises. I would stay here again.
