(Wrote a place holder review in November. Formal review below.) When I began shopping for a roofer, I found Claudio to be professional and very pleasant to deal with, and his prices were affordable, so I decided to hire Rhino Construction. Two days into the project(when Claudio wasn’t there), the town clerk came by, slapped a huge fluorescent orange«shame on you» sticker on my door for not having a construction permit, which Claudio was supposed to get before he started working on my roof. When I spoke to Claudio later, his explanation was«He forgot.» He’s been in the biz 10+ years, so I don’t get how he «forgot,» but whatever. I rushed over to city hall, explained the situation, proved I wasn’t responsible for getting the permit(was written in our contract) and the town inspector said he’d dropped the fine if Claudio came and got the permit that day — which he did.(I doubt town inspectors usually drop fines, so I lucked out. He could have been mean and fined me anyway) I’m sure Claudio felt bad for putting me thru that needless drama(and for the public embarrassment of the«sticker of shame» on my front door), so he offered to throw in some pro bono work around the house to make up for it, which I appreciated very much. He started work on my house in October and said it’d be done in a week or two(depending on the weather). However, he ended up finishing in early December. In Claudio’s defense, we had that massive freak snowstorm in October, Hurricane Irene which knocked out power at my house for a week, several rainy days, and Claudio got a terrible staph infection, to boot. Talk about a string of bad luck! Regardless of all the permit/weather headaches, Claudio did a great job on my roof and portico, fixed up a few things around my house pro bono, and cleaned up all the roofing garbage, so in the end, I’m a very happy customer. Claudio was polite, professional, hardworking and very pleasant to deal with, so if anyone is looking for a roofer, I highly recommend Rhino Construction/Claudio. Just make sure he remembers to get the construction permit before he starts work on your house.(^_^)
