Saturday morning was real busy. Never felt rushed. Friendly service. Had the French Toast and Bacon. Yummy ! Coffee was good and hot. Waitress was very attentive. My husband had ham and egg breakfast. All was good. $ 13.91 was our Total. Was in and out in less then an Hour. We will go back next time I am in Paris.

We enjoyed a Sunday lunch here– nothing spectacular but definitely not disappointing. My fries were homemade but I’m pretty sure my chicken strips were frozen. My husband’s hash browns weren’t cooked enough but his eggs were cooked well. The service was great and we loved the small– town, café ambiance. It was full the whole time– church crowd was apparent. Overall, not a bad choice.

Let me say this, I’m a fan. But this is mostly due to the ambiance, this is what I imagined small town Texas to be. As usual I really don’t care about the service, but there were some smiles and some friendly chatting. Now this is a diner, so if you come here with a snobby mindset, you will be dissapointed — it’s a diner nothing more, nothing less. Now I like coffee, I like strong coffee and a lot of it. They had big mugs, that’s a plus but overall the coffee in the U. S just isn’t strong enough and this was no exception. I had one of the specials which was chicken fried steak, now I made one misstake. I ordered it with sauce. That was bad because the sauce didn’t taste that much and it made the crisp outside go soft. The meat as you would suspect had been beaten into submission as was therefor tender. The mashed potatoes it came with was ok, the side of beans was good and the little dessert was also tasty. I don’t know why but if I were to go again I’d go for the cheese burger(it seemed like the other costumers enjoyed this) or the fried pork chop that my brother ate — he seemed pleased. Now I have had day dreams about the traditional american pie and expectations where high, especially after someone in town told my brother that this place served the best pies in town. Now I had the chocolate pie, because there was no apple, pecan or peach. If you are like me and you’ve never tried what i assume is an traditional american pie, but have only eaten the french-style pie made with sweet shortcrust pastry you will be somewhat surprised. The crust is dence and not that sweet, the filling will also leave you scrathing your head, where traditional french style chocolate pie has a dence filling this was more like a pudding. Then there was the topping of meringue topping, on chocolate? why? Now was this the pie of my dreams? no. But I have still to try a home made pie made by someones granny and filled with apples. As a whole then I liked this place and the city was nice(filled with antique stores)

3 stars if you’re white, 0 if you’re not. We will not be coming back to this place again, received such terrible service. Were told they were out of the lunch special and would not be serving it, THEN they proceeded to tell the customers(white) next to us that they were. Besides their obvious discrimination issues, the wait staff was inattentive and slow when there were only two tables being waited on; ours obviously slower. My brother found a used Splenda packet stuck inside his Coke, and they didn’t even notice. They never took our menus away even though it was clear they were obstructing where our food was to be placed. We waited almost an hour just to be handed menus, and then receive okay food 40 minutes later.

We went in at 2:30 on Friday. They close at 3:00. We were courteously greeted, service was fast, and the food was excellent. I had a chicken fried steak(one of the best I’ve had in a while), and my wife had the grilled chicken(perfectly done) and we both had vegetables that were delightful. The meals were served with some very tasty rolls and cornbread, and chocolate pudding for dessert. Last minute dining is always a risk, but that doesn’t seem to be the case here. We went back Saturday morning for breakfast and the food and service were, again, top notch. If we’re in the area, this is where we’ll eat.
