Wonderful service, general portions, just a great place to eat in. The patties are large and juicy, and my kid eater her cheese burger fast and happy without complains. To get kids eating nowadays is hard, but this cheeseburger was gone in few minutes. Keep the great work, it made us really happy and full!

Frosty Penguin is the best! Not only is the soft serve delicious, the hamburgers, fries and onion rings are top notch. Customer service is excellent! The owner, Arman is always there and he hires some really nice kids to work for the summer. Arman recently did a bulk order of ice cream for my son’s school and it was a huge hit!

This is the best place for ice cream in Park Ridge. When I was little, I enjoyed walking to the former Dairy Queen for ice cream; now, I can walk with my family to Frosty Penguin. Melina and Armen warmly greet us whenever we come in for a treat. In fact, they refer to my daughter as a «Frosty Penguin baby» since she was born soon after they opened. When spring rolls around, we eagerly await Frosty Penguin’s opening and are always among the first visitors there. And their food is as wonderful as the owners are. Their ice cream is a weekly routine for us, and we crave their fries all too often. Friends and family insist on a Frosty Penguin visit when they see us. Then when they close up shop in the fall, our freezer is full of hot fudge sundaes, frostbites, and soft serve cones, and we eagerly await spring. I can’t think of a better business to support in Park Ridge. Be sure to visit often!

We love popping in here for ice cream! Family owned and super friendly! The ice cream is good and the food is yum to! Tye owners make you feel like you’re part of the family when they aren’t busy, and when they are, I’ve never seen them be anything but courteous, even when my 7 yr old is boumcing off the walls on a sugar high! No complaints and we aren’t regulars, but we pop in with some regularly.

Great neighborhood place. Always packed… and run by folks who live in the community. They sell very standard stuff, but somehow I really enjoy going there and hanging out. Their strawberry blizzard is better than what you would get at DQ.

If you want a delicious burger, Frosty Penguin is the place. Fries and onion rings are hot, crispy, and delicious. The marinated chicken on the salads is super tasty and is quality meat – no«rubber» chicken here. Everything is made to order and so fresh. The hamburger patties are generously sized, the veggies are fresh, and the bun is soft and buttery. Their Frostbites are thick and are generously filled with your choice of mix-ins. This is always my daughter’s first choice when I ask her where she’d like to eat and I frequently take my nephews here for the dipped cones. I’m looking forward to trying the funnel cake fries for which I have heard great things. I love that there is both indoor and outdoor seating so you can enjoy your meal or ice cream in air conditioning if it’s too hot or sit under the stars on a pleasant summer night. The owners are extremely personable and friendly as is the rest of the staff. Now if we can only get them to stay open all year round! :)

Omg this place is amazing! The burgers are to die for — juicy good portion of meat and soft bun. My husband had the double and I had the single and we both inhaled it. French fries are so fresh like the burgers. We were planning to eat in the car but changed our minds. The owner was so nice asked us if we want water told us how fresh the ingredients were. Love this place. Will come back for the ice cream!

I am a big fan of burgers and fries. This is one of my quick fastfood goto place and the fries are comparable to wendy’s french fries as they are thick and crispy. The burgers are actually a hidden secret of this place as I thought all they sell was ice cream and yogurt and suprised to find out that they do sell burger. Love the old time favorite funnel cakes as well.

I was in an area I’m rarely in, so I Unilocaled what was nearby and found The Frosty Penguin. It sounded like a cool, 50’s soda shop type place so I went for a late lunch. As fate would have it, it was their opening day for the season and I just missed the lunch rush. I ordered a cheeseburger, fries and small strawberry shake. The service was very friendly and helpful. The food took a bit to make but it came out hot and fresh. I thought it was a little pricey for what I ordered(about $ 12.50) especially with how small the shake was but the burger was good and the fries were excellent: crunchy, crinkly, hot and salty! The shake was delicious, I only wish I had ordered a larger size. I would definitely go out of my way to come back. I want to try all their ice cream treats and get more of those fries(with cheese, this time!)

This is the place to go when your craving a burgers, funnel cakes, and ice cream. Everytime I go we never order just one thing because you would want to try more. Servings are very pleasing. The owners are always there which is great because you will always be satisfied.

Pure Americana. It’s basically a full-service soft-serve hut, with a side of hot-dog stand. Their hot food menu is very limited, but they make a good hot dog, and the small fries easily feeds two, so this can be a pretty cheap and satisfying night out. Onion rings are a good snack, I assume frozen but better than most places. I appreciate the variety of sauces offered(e.g. ranch, barbecue, honey mustard, et al). Ice cream is the star, and you have any number of options to transform simple soft-serve into sweet magnificence. You will not go wrong with the Blizzard-like Frostbites, the shakes, or the sundaes, but the simple allure of a twist cone dipped in chocolate should not be underestimated. A very hot day gives you the impetus to eat it quickly! The chocolate malt milkshake is so choice. I’ve always been wary of soft-serve milkshakes, but this one is thick and flavorful – and made the correct way, with vanilla ice cream and chocolate syrup. One of the best things going here are the owner/operators, who are very hospitable and seem to know most of the clientele. We are new in town, but I’m sure that our family will become regulars. On one recent visit, the lady proprietor noticed my wife’s pregnancy and struck up a long, warm conversation about kids. A summer evening’s walk to the ice cream stand is a great way to build memories. We hope to make this our little one’s favorite local ice cream stop someday. It’s already ours!

With the Frosty Penguin being just a short walk away from where I’m staying it’s a dangerously luring hot-spot with both their burgers and ice cream piled mile-high. The first time I’d come here with my fiancé we ordered the Funnel cake fries and a Reese’s Pieces blizzard, both of which were perfect accomplices in aiding my sugar high. The blizzard was much like any blizzard that you’d get at a place like Dairy Queen, but still delicious all the same. The funnel cakes, on the other hand, are super awesome. I’d never have thought of making Funnel Cake fries but I’m glad that the owners of the Frosty Penguin did because they some powdery goodness. They taste like those mouth-watering funnel cakes you get at the Wisconsin State Fair — now why wouldn’t you want to get those here at home? These funnel cake fries can also be ordered with a variety of sauces, but I recommend the raspberry sauce as does one of the owners. I should mention, that the owners of this company are a man and a wife who have taken over the company from their family members who’d owned it before. According to the very friendly owners(who are always willing to talk with their patrons) the Frosty Penguin was previously a Dairy Queen which explains for some of the similarities that you’ll notice between the two. One thing that differs greatly with the Frosty Penguin from other fast food restaurants is its deliciously stacked double burger. On the second time that my fiancé and I wandered into the Frosty Penguin we had a taste for a burger as we’d been on a quest to find the best burgers in the area. We have concluded that this burger ranks up there, especially considering that this is a fast food burger. We ordered the Emperor burger which came with two patties(cooked well-done which isn’t my preference as I like it done medium-rare, but oh well!) and everything on it with an addition of bacon for an extra dollar. The burger had so much on it that I could barely get it all in my mouth, but I managed and I ended up devouring the burger. The fries that we ordered with our burger were good, but a little too crispy for my preference. However, we ordered a small batch of fries but what came out looked like a lot more than a «small» portion so you get your money’s worth for sure. This is a great place that’s frequented by families and young kids hanging out — it’s a perfect hang-out during the summer and spring months, but it’s definitely a go-to spot during any time of the year. This is definitely a top choice if you’re considering a quick bite to eat, but be mindful that for being fast food they aren’t open extremely late. It is a family business and they have to sleep too so they can’t always be open! The penguin is waiting for you!

We called in for burgers here, and they were ready right on the 10 minutes ETA per the courteous lady owner. The burgers were great, and a tasty deal at $ 5.49 for a 1⁄3 lb Angus burger. We also got the largest serving of nicely seasoned fries we have seen in quite a while — $ 2.49 for regular fries, and $ 2.99 for SPF. The owner couple were just as friendly as portrayed in past reviews, and I could tell also from the way they smiled at all of their patrons. We were in at about 7pm on a Sunday night and there was a steady stream of customers, many for soft serve cones. We’ll be back for their soft serve sometime, and I also want to try their Emperor burger(a good looking deal at 2⁄3 lb Angus for $ 6.99).

We have been passing the frosty penguin many times. Today we finally stopped to have a burger and fries. Both were incredibly tasty! Hot and crispy crinkle fries accompanied a juicy burger. The service was on par; very friendly and helpful. At first we asked for 2 fries, and were advised to take 1 large instead. It was a huge portion so no need to order more. Overall; great experience; we will definitely stop by more often!

Ok, so my favorite spot for a burger is Paradise Pup. They’re open roughly 10 days a year though, lol. Last Sunday, my wife had a dangerous craving for a burger and since our favorite wasn’t open, it was up to me to quell my wife’s angst before it got out of hand. I opened my go to app Unilocal and searched. When I came across Frosty Penguin, I almost dismissed it since it sounded more like an ice cream place and we were looking for burgers, but I chose to dig deeper and the reviews won me over. We got there and the menu wasn’t very extensive, but we both found what we wanted. I ordered the 2/3lb Emperor burger with cheese and my wife ordered two hotdogs asking for them«grilled»(she’s from Canada and apparently that’s the only way to eat a hotdog) and an order of onion rings. They were happy to oblige her. So much for her burger craving :/. She also had the strawberry milkshake. We sat outside waiting for our food and I took note of the place. It’s a small, modest storefront but clean, and they have a few picnic tables outside with maybe 3 or 4 small circular tables inside. There were family’s here taking their kids for ice cream and some people were having meals like us. I wasn’t sure if I needed to go back inside to pick up my food but after a while, the pleasant woman who took my order arrived with our dinner. First of all, the meal was outstanding. The burger had a nice charred taste to it and the onion rings were super crispy. They ask you what sauce you want with the rings and we got ketchup and ranch. They’re really good with the ranch! My wife loved her hotdogs even though she chose to put ketchup on them… and my wife’s milkshake was possibly one of the best I’ve tried,(no euphemism intended). I went back in to order dessert. I briefly spoke with the owners(they seem to be a husband and wife team) and both are super nice and friendly. They even apologized that we waited so long for the food(it really hadn’t taken that long) and I stated that I didn’t mind waiting for good food. We finished off with a raspberry sundae for my wife and a twist waffle cone for myself. This really hit the spot. We both left stuffed out of our minds but satisfied and will definitely be back. These owners truly deserve success.

Fantastic service and every food item we tried was excellent. Kids ended up getting Hot Dogs, Chicken, Strips, and Fries. My wife and I got the Burgers which were topped with a quality bun and plenty of fresh veggies. Big 1⁄3 burger but it wasn’t falling apart. The onion rings where great and the home made ranch sauce was thick and plenty was provided. We also had the the funnel cake fries and they recommended we try it with the raspberry sauce which was a PERFECT pairing. We also got the ice cream and I ended up trying the birthday cake dip cone which is the first time I’ve even seen the option somewhere. Service was top notch and they brought our food out to our table since we were sitting outside. NICE touch! Overall very please with the place and wlll be returning as there were plenty of other desert options we wanted to try out.

Frosty Penguin is a great spot for ice cream! They do serve food as well, burgers, fries, etc. This place is run by a family from the northern suburbs and they are always there working. I’m a fan of blizzards, but over the years Dairy Queen has gotten cheap on the inclusions. You don’t have to worry about that here! Frostbites, as they are called here, are loaded with your choice ingredient and they even put some on top after they are done mixing. The only thing I think they need to work on is speed, often times you may have to wait. It’s worth the wait though and the super friendly family that owns it will greet you with a smile!

We’ve made this one of our favorite summer evening destinations. After 3 years now, Frosty Penguin epitomizes the neighborhood ice cream joint. It has attracted the local community. My kids routinely meet their classmates from school coming in for a hot dog or ice cream. Soccer and baseball teams stop in here after a game. Even a few kids in their white karate uniforms stop in, hopefully keeping their uniforms white and clean of any chocolate fudge. The place is family owned and the service is excellent. We love to come by on a quiet afternoon when it’s not that busy, enjoy a cone or sundae and talk with the owners during our visit. The place is clean. Not much room for tables inside, but there’s plenty of room outside. On a typical summer night, the line can be to the door even if it is closing in on 9PM. The place can stay open past its designated time if it’s busy. Their burgers are big and their«small» fries are pretty large, served in one of those red plastic baskets. Ice cream dipped in chocolate shell is probably my #1 favorite thing to order though. They make a bigger cone than DQ. Frosty Penguin has reached out to the community as well, sponsoring events at nearby Franklin School and being the official ice cream supplier for the 5th grade ice cream social the past couple years. Whatever your reason is, be sure to stop in here between April and October when they’re open for business.
