Don’t come here worst pool ever. So here’s the story. My friend and I bike for fitness and were neighbors. We live 5 km away from the pool and we Lost our money to get into the pool on our way there. We asked the guy if we could pay him back later but he said no and we understood and he will wait for us later. 30 mins later sorry we’re lazy bastards bye and don’t even get me started on the cleanliness of the pool.

Nothing fancy but quaint. It is very popular hangout amongst the PR teenagers.

My kids signed up for swimming classes over the summer at Park Ridge’s other outdoor pool, now that Oakton is closed forever. Hinkley is much smaller than the Centennial pool about a mile to the west on Touhy. It’s also a lot less crowded considering it is just a block from the Uptown area and the Metra station. Being located on Busse puts it in a low traffic spot, out of sight for most people passing through town. Hinkley’s multiple plaques on the walls of the building date it back to 1929, with a few renovations since then. The terra cotta shingles on the roof give it the classic old building look. The pool is larger than it appears from just driving by along the street. There’s plenty of parking at Hinkley, as there’s a lot behind it, also out of sight for people passing along Busse. You can get to it from Northwest Highway along Morris St. You can even bike it there if you want. The locker room is pretty plain, with the exception of colorful fish painted on the walls. It is very muggy in there, especially on a hot day. Showers don’t work that well either. Water pressure isn’t that good compared to Centennial, plus you have to keep pushing the button to keep the shower going for more than a few seconds. The pool area has plenty of recliners and chairs for people watching. Stay on the sunny side by the building or in the shade by the diving board area, but hanging out next to the fence on Busse is an invitation for some biting flies to annoy you as long as you are there. The pool itself is nice, with stairs going down to the shallow end. The deep end tops off at 10′-6″ by the diving board. This is a decent community pool, while not as great as Centennial, but a good place for lessons closer to home.
