Happy Garden

Very good. Vegetables were cooked perfectly. Rice was lite and not mealy. Tried the Parlin roll for the first time and was very glad I did. Mango and avocado, delicious.

The service and the food used to be good here. Sadly, they have fallen off. I won’t be back.

We sat in the dining room for over an hour and a half and still didn’t receive our meals. Meanwhile we watched over 20 take out orders fufilled. Finally a plate arrived with our appetizer and it was wrong! Never returning here again which is sad because it used to be one of my favorite local restaurants!

when I had a meeting at NJ, I went to this place closed by my place. it’s really good, I order a noodle, it’s really good service and it’s worth to come back again. I will go there again next time.

The food is fresh and delicious, delivery used to come within 40 minutes and the staff is very nice. I was confused by the poor ratings and thought maybe they had changed ownership but I went on Saturday and got take out for my entire family and they all raved about how delicious and fresh it was. This place is my favorite Chinese food restaurant (I have not tried the Sushi) to the point that I have moved out of the area and still make a stop here whenever possible. Eat in, take out or delivery, you cant go wrong!

I had order out here before and thought it would be nice to come and have dinner tonight. The girl who worked their said they didn’t have a waitress and we couldn’t eat in. Never heard anything like this before. I don’t understand how you run a business like this and still stay open. Very disappointed and hungry.

I have been ordering from happy gardens for a few years. I recently decided to go with my family to have dinner in the restaurant and meet the people that I have been speaking to for so long, It was a great night with great people and delicious sushi and Chinese food, the service was great and we would highly recommend Happy Gardens to anyone who enjoys delicious food and friendly service

We had chicken and broccoli the chicken was pitiful I wouldn’t be surprised if we ate «MEOW» I’m sorry it was that bad. We are so done with this garbage food.

They have gotten worse every time I went. The food was very bland. The food didnt even look appealing. I don’t suggest this place at all.

I hate to give them one star because the food is consistently average but today is the worst I have ever seen it. I came in after placing a take out order and was told 20 min. I came in 30 expecting it to be cold but when I arrived there was one person working the floor, the phone, the register and I’m assuming part of the kitchen as she disappeared in the back for a few min at a time.
It’s now been 20 min of sitting here waiting and watching people walk out and say they cannot wait anymore. Wish this area had a good Chinese food place that didn’t have dirty carpets and random birthday decorations from parties that have clearly passed. And as I wrote this another party of 4 just left.
And 55 min in a man with filthy shoes and reeking of vomit just asked me what my order was and went I to the back. Thank god I’m not posting this until I leave although Mr. VomitShoes is gathering my food.

I love this place! Great prices and quality. One of the few eat in chinese restaurants in the area.

I am floored by how poor the service was. We called to place an order for takeout (two combo platters and panfried dumplings), which was an adventure in itself. The noise in the background was so loud I had to repeat my order and address multiple times. It’s dinner time, they have a sitdown dining room, I get it.
It then took an hour and a half for our food to arrive (we live 10 minutes from the restaurant). It didn’t actually arrive to my apartment, either — my husband had to go find the driver and get the food from him.
Once we sat down to eat, we were disappointed to find that the food was ice cold. Not even lukewarm. On top of it, it was probably the worst ChineChinese food I’ve ever had. The fried rice was flavorless, the garlic chicken syrupy sweet instead of spicy, and the fried dumplings were so gooey and soft that the dumpling wrappers were ripped and falling off the meatballs inside … and instead of coming with oyster sauce, we got a think sweet sauce. Everything was too sugary and not like any other Chinese food I’ve ever eaten.
I am not one to call and complain, but I was so irritated (and hungry!!) I called the restaurant. When I did, I was told «Well, it’s cold outside, that’s why it’s cold.» When I mentioned the hour and a half wait, I got a curt comment that I live too far away and I must have given them the wrong address. Then she hung up on me!
You know things are rough when a Celeste freezer pizza is the better alternative dinner, after throwing this away. It was literally inedible.

This restaurant quality of food has really gone down hill. Not sure if there are new owners. Ordered moo shu pork and got really over cooked beef. Also don’t let the menu fool you about «we deliver minimum $ 10» they charge a $ 2.00 delivery fee. And anything extra is $ 1.00. Extra plum sauce $ 1.00 for what is about a tablespoon. Ordered a large chicken and rice soup. Added Snow peas — $ 1.00 for 5 snow peas. Time to find a new local Chinese place.

Ordered from here tonight, extremely disappointing. When we placed the order for delivery, we specifically asked how long it would take to be delivered, they told us an hour. Ended up taking one and a half hours. The food was extremely underwhelming — the orange flavored chicken container was full of inedible sauteed orange peel, just to fill the container. The sushi rolls are expensive, and some of the smallest diameter rolls I’ve ever seen. Very very little eel in the dragon roll. Place is very expensive and the food is very very subpar, ill never be back.

The proteins that were ordered (General Tso’s, Sweet n Sour Chicken, Chicken Lo Mein) were done well and the wonton soup broth was quite flavorful. However, they have terrible pork fried rice. It completely lacks flavor and almost seemed over cooked as though it had been sitting all day (if not more). Change up the recipe and I’d throw in an extra star.

Happy garden is a great place to be if you want to eat American Chinese food, I recommend it to all my friends but the wait can sometimes be a drag. Other then tht the food is great, a lot better then the tale out or delivery only places.

Happy Garden is my go-​to chinese spot ever since they switched owners and became Happy Garden! The guy on the phone is always super nice, my hot & sour soup (which I order EVERY time) is always great, pretty hot, but not too hot! Other favorites: garlic chicken — just enough spiciness for me (a spicy LOVER) and mild enough for my mom, who has a freak attack over Indian or Thai food. Their beef isn’t best, I would recommend sticking with chicken, noodle, or veggie dishes. I’ve ordered a lot of their noodle dishes — noodles are cooked perfectly.
