This was my first visit as my usual haunt is Sri Ganesh Dosa house or Saravana bhavan in the city. This place is hidden way in a strip mall and is quite easy to miss. Went on a Sunday afternoon with hardly anyone in there and soon it became crowded. The service is slow and the person at the counter was not quite a people person however the food was excellent . Only complaint was that the sambar is very watery and then give you just one coconut chutney unlike other places where you have Atleast two chutneys. The butter Mysore masala dosa was fantastic and so was the soft idlis. A little pricey than dosa house but the dosa was crispy and Masala filling was really good. Will come again for sure !

Very good for the dosas. All the types of dosa here are amazingly tasty. the sambar is on the house, i dont know why but, they make amazing sambar. Good place for Dosa and tea time. or say lite dinner.

Tasty Dosas with basic service. That means no hello or thank you, but they get your order right every time. Service can get slow with even a small crowd. Luckily, when I go(lunchtime) I’m usually the only one there. The Mysore Masala Dosa has a nice level of spice and heat, compared to other places I’ve been. Chutneys and Sambar are pretty good, and the prices are quite reasonable. I almost always get take out, but the dining area is modern and clean. They also have another location in Iselin, where the Dosas are equally delicious but the restaurant itself is a bit run down.

The best dosas I have had outside of India. While the name of the restaurant may not sound very fancy«Express», I get why they like to call it so… their service is fast. I always order the Medhu Vada, Mysore Masala Dosa and Idli from here and never been disappointed. You can’t get enough of their sambhar. While their service might not be super chatty and friendly, their food wins over it! I wish they had more stores closer to where I live.

We ate here almost a year ago. We loved the food. Dosas and Idlis were delicious. This is in fact the best dosa we have had in NJ. We have eaten in several places on Oak Tree Road and Jersey City. This by far had the best food.

Good South Indian Dosa, vada etc, tasty. I tried the 5 layer masala dosa, it’s quite filling. Coconut chutney was good, sambar not good. Regular masala dosa and rava masala dosa were tried by others in the group and liked. It’s a self service place, not a full restaurant, So the ambience not that great, but much better compared to similar places.

The place is short staffed. It is a pretty large restaurant plus a good take out business. They have very few staff. A dosa-idli place is Indian fast food. This place is slow. Very slow. The sambar as good and is idli’s were decent. They have rava idli’s too. But they were not warm. The dosas were pretty bad. Kind of what one makes at home. Thick like a uttapam. Overall there are other dosa placed in parsipanny which are better. Chalk this one up to not again.

Nice food. Its more of a to go place even though it has seating. Not a formal kind of restaurant but yet nice to dine in. Love their sambar and the layer dosas, Clean and reasonably priced. The chutneys r a bit spicy.

Disclaimer: I am quite familiar with how good Indian food should taste like and here’s my verdict — the food here is effin legit. The food tastes so good, almost like the stuff you get back home in India(and that’s very uncommon in spite of all the 5 star establishments around) DON’T come here for the service or a nice dine-in experience, you won’t get any. You are better off ordering a take-out and eating it in your garage. And the guy behind the counter just doesn’t seem sane(I wanna give the benefit of doubt to him though) Come here for good and unpretentious food at super cheap prices and you’ll leave a happy person.

Not good. Stay away. The place was almost empty on Sat evening at 7PM. No wonder, given the quality of food. Stale tasting Dosa and the Sambhar was bland. The guy taking the order looks depressed, like he is dis-interested in serving anyone. Most likely he is the owner. We dumped most of the food.

Americans reared on fast food: The«Express» in Dosa Express doesn’t mean you’ll get your food as speedily as you would by going through a McDonald’s drive-thru. You go, you order, you wait. Enjoy the Bollywood programming(it’s good!). I didn’t have a watch or phone with me when I ordered, but it took two music videos and a quick Hindi-language segment on what seemed to be the superstitions of Bollywood stars for me to get my food. The food isn’t bad at all, but don’t expect to get it in a hurry.

Simply one of the most awkward and unfriendly eating experiences I’ve ever had. I will not be coming here again. It’s a shame because the food isn’t bad.

The place is decent and the food is OK. It’s not the best and it’s not the worst. I like the masala dosa but not the cheese masala dosa. For the cheese masala dosa they use cheddar cheese and not mozzarella so it doesn’t taste as good(really salty).

I had the bisi bela bath and one layer dosa… I loved the dosa crêpe and flavor of the sambhar rice… On the whole I loved the food … YUMMY!

The staff have huge communication problems and there is only one guy who can understand English. Also the quantity of sambhar they give is very less the cup size is little bit bigger than tequila shot glasses. Plus it takes forever to get your food since there is only one guy doing everything. Other than this three issues food quality is fine.

Decent place to eat dosa. I wouldn’t say it’s the best I’ve had but it’s not the worst either. It’s an average sized dosa. The crêpe is a little thicker than it probably should be. The potato filling is a good amount and flavorful. The sambhar portion is small, and very light but had good flavor, enjoyed it. The dosa does have a fair amt of butter/ghee which they really need to cut down.

Been here twice and it was a bit inconsistent. I had the 5 and 7 layer dosas, respectively, on my visits. Dining partner had paneer dosa and was pretty happy with it. Heard the idli dosa is also good. There is one person there that appears to be rude, but he is actually very nice. He can take a little time to understand what you are saying, but be patient. Pros: –Fairly tasty(especially the first time) –Free decent Sambar(vegetable lentil soup) –Large portion and good price –Willing to customize(see butter«con» below) –Pretty good chutneys(sauces) Cons: –Tasted different the two times –Was very buttery(this could be a pro for some, but they were willing to reduce amount of butter) –Frozen vegetables used for the added ingredients i.e. carrots, peas, etc(potatoes and onions don’t seem frozen, though); my advice is get the dosa with potato, onion, and chili) -$ 20 credit card minimum(at least they take CC, though) Need to try it a third time to see if that three should be a 3.5÷4

the food is good but thats where it ends. The staff does not know how to talk to customers or how to take orders. I don’t think they even speak english. This was one of the worst experiences I have had dining out and we WILLNOT ever go back. We waited over 40 minutes for dosa and when we asked what delay was, they got upset with us for asking. They had the audacity to charge us for a couple of items they forgot to write when we first ordered. The guys at the register actually seeked us out in the restaurant for $ 0.75. No customer service. This place won’t last a year if owner doesn’t fix this problem fast.
