I love chinese food — well, the american kind. A humble, family-run restaurant that just does the job. I had the pleasure of dining there late this afternoon. After being served, the family(at another table) had their lunch as well while constantly checking-in on me to make sure the food met expectations and if I needed anything else. The food was delicious! Honestly, what more could you ask for? A very happy patron indeed — I’ll continue to be a constant customer.

This place was a great place to go to about a few years back. I recently went in the past 6 months, and it’s quality has really gone down the drain. I ordered a pork chop noodle soup, and the pork chop was horrible! I think they re-fried a leftover pork chop because it was like a piece of leather. The service is slow, and we were the only dine in customers. I wouldn’t be surprised if this place goes out of business in the next year or two. I would never go back to this place ever again. There are a few other places that serve the same type food, but at a much higher quality.

Very blah food with poor service in an uninviting atmosphere. The owner/waitress was rude and they had a loud TV playing a Chinese tv show on the back. Veggie dumplings were bland and mushy. Noodle special was drowning in soy sauce with no flavor.

We ordered wonton soup, three flavors fried dumplings, cheese wonton, chicken lo mein, and the seafood treasures. Soup was delicious. Very good broth and tender wontons. Dumplings were also very tasty. The cheese wonton filling had an odd texture and almost no taste. The lo mein was completely tasteless with hardly any chicken and a strange spicy aftertaste that seemed like it came from a wok not cleaned out properly after a spicy dish was made. The seafood dish was ok. Shrimp and scallops cooked nicely but the sauce could have used more seasoning. Delivery was fast and the delivery person was very pleasant. Would try them again.

The food is terrible. Soup tastes like dirty cabbage. Dumplings are not cooked well and the fillings are mostly cabbage. Not worth the money. I can’t fathom how people are giving this place 5 stars.

Worst Asian Food Ever! Lo Mein was tasteless, Fried rice was burned and they messed up my order of Chow Mein for something else. I called and they didn’t send a replacement. Will never order from there again.

Not sure why there are so many so many bad reviews hew. A good amount of them seem to be concerning lo mein or those American-Chinese dishes so I guess avoid the stuff that you could order in 90% of other Chinese places. I had the szechuan noodles with sesame sauce from the appetizer menu. We also got the cut tofu with pork and the three cup chicken from the family specialties back page and someone else got the three flavor taipan noodle special. The dishes overall were fine and I was surprised to see a good three cup chicken in the middle of nowhere. I don’t know much about the soups, I do like Taiwanese style soups a lot but I was not exactly in the mood for one. Waitress was nice for a restaurant like this. 4.0 for the three cup chicken and extensive menu. -.5 for the appetizer, I thought the description meant a completely different dish and it wasn’t spicy enough.

I came here once with my friend who’s swears by this place. He was in search of the pork chop over rice platter with the soy sauce boiled egg. We dined in and there was only another couple who was eating there. The owner’s kids were doing their homework in the back. I got the beef noodle soup and my friend got the pork chop. We shared the oyster omelet. The red sauce came with it. It was very very quiet dining there. We suggested to the waitress to have a radio or something on for background noise. I want to support this place. There are plenty of Chinese take-out but this place offers something different to the palate wheel.

Not very good Taiwanese food. I was in the mood for noodle soup so I came here to get the pork and pickled vegetable soup. The soup was quite murkey looking and tasted a little fishy. I added a bit of hot chili oil to dress it up a bit, so it made it edible. This soup is a pretty easy soup to make. Too bad they couldn’t make a nice broth as a base. I definitely will not be returning.

I was home sick the other day with my son who was as miserable as I was. Normally, when I feel like this I find myself a good Jewish Deli and get chicken noodle soup or matzoh ball soup, but alas, there is no good Jewish deli close to where I live so I did the next best thing-got me some Taiwanese noodle soup from Hunan Noodle House! I’ve heard good things about this place, but never got around to trying it out… so at least SOMETHING good came from me being sick. I ordered the shredded chicken noodle soup(with white noodles) and an order of three flavor dumplings(fried). I haven’t had noodle soup form a Chinese place in probably 15 years, but after today’s lunch I can guarantee it won’t be that long before I’m back at Hunan Noodle House. The broth was absolutely perfect-nicely salted and full of flavor-and the ingredients were also done perfectly-nothing overcooked. The noodles themselves, packaged separately, were great and held up nicely in the soup. I added a little hot sauce and the soup was just what my body needed. The three flavor dumplings? Oh yeah, they hit the spot too. Absolutely delicious. Eight nice sized dumplings, lightly fried for $ 5.50, not a bad deal. As always, the best compliment I can leave in my review is that I will be back. I don’t know if Hunan Noodle House will ever become our go-to place-I need to try some of their other dishes, but it is definitely my new noodle soup joint!

My family and I used to eat at hunan noodle a lot because it was next to an Indian food grocery store and a backery shopped called QQ was near it as well. However, over time we realized that the food had too much MSG. I enjoyed the tomato beef over rice to a certain extent, but other than that, I don’t think anything else on the menu qualifies for a «must-try» for this restaurant. Although I believe that you should try out this food if you live around this area, definitely don’t expect too much.

I ordered shrimp lo mein and schezuan chicken. Overpriced and really disgusting. The shrimp were not fresh and the food was pretty tasteless. Go elsewhere.

I come here for their Taiwanese style menu items. They have dishes you just don’t see everywhere else. My takeout has always been great and I like the fact that it doesn’t come across as the usual Chinese food you see in most places. This reminds me more of the type of food I usually get in Chinatown in NYC. In short, I liked this place. It had a family vibe to it and the dishes looked unique. I’ll definitely go here for take-out again. If I have the chance, I’ll eat in the restuarant too.

This is a place I have been going for like 5 years already. The place pros are: –Service — Good enough. There was a time I asked the server for her opinion on a dish and she was honest in saying that it was not fresh that day, and recommended another one. –Prices — Nice noodle soup The best dishes there I can say are: Noodle soups — I normally ask for the Spicy Beef Tendon one Stinky tofu — This appetizer’s quality has been consistent. It is good enough. Crispy pig intestines — It is normally pretty good. Now to the bad things: –This place is more popular as take out than dine-in. For some reason the place has been deserted the last times I have been there. –Consistency is an issue. Maybe because of slow days, there are some dishes that can be decent one day, and a disaster the other. –They charge for a bow of white rice… Maybe it is just me, but I hate when you order appetizers and entrees, and they still charge for a bow of rice. Overall, a good place for a quick lunch or dinner. Stick with the noddle soups and you should be fine.

Authentic Taiwanese food in NJ! Better than the one in Morristown but definitely can’t compete with Flushing. Stinky tofu — legit and will come back for this Tomato beef over rice — I’ll get this again — more on the salty side and not as tomatoey as one I had before in Taiwan Oyster Noodle soup — a disappointment, should have gotten the standard Taiwanese beef noodle I think try can use a little bit more salt but maybe they want healthy customers. We were the only table there — but their phone was ringing nonstop from take out and delivery order. Super slow service since there was only one lady manning the front of the house and also taking delivery/take out phone orders at the same time.

I am rating this place a 5-star because you can spend $ 5 to get a filling meal. You pay no more than a take-out restaurant but you get some very unique food that you won’t find unless you go to Flushing! I discovered this place back in 1997 when I lived in Parsippany for one year. Since then, I have lived in Florham Park, Edison, Jersey City, Kuala Lumpur, and now back to Jersey City again. If given the chance, I always stop by and eat here; if I cannot dine-in, I take home for another meal. Why? Because of their specialty items that get burried in the large menu. I suspect if this restaurant rebrands itself and only focus on the special dishes it will make a killing and can double the price, but let’s keep that a secret. Whoever translated/designed their menu should be shot, because it’s really marketing at its worst. Take for example, #74 and #77 for Pork Chop or Chicken Leg Over Rice: not exactly the best marketing words. Did you know that you get either a big pork chop or full quarter chicken leg on rice that’s spread with minced meat sauce and sides of steamed napa and sour cabages, and then topped with a braised egg? Frankly these two dishes($ 4.95 ea) tastes better than some of the ones I had in Taiwan! #87 and #88: cut noodle. Anyone who doesn’t know what it is will not even stop and ask. It’s a whole dough that gets sliced by a knife and not ran through a pasta machine(or most just use pre-made noodles). There is a difference! And did you know that you can substitute other soup noodles with cut noodle? Some of the appetizers are very unique too: #34, #37, #43, #46, etc. You may need to be a bit brave to try but they won’t dissapoint. My office now moved to Parsippany and I imagine many more lunches and take-home dinners to come. Please visit this place and keep it afloat.

Cheap price for pretty good food. Most dishes are between 5 – 8 dollars. Didn’t find out this place until recently and gave it a try for dinner. We had the fried stinky tofu and scallion pancake for appetizer. Both are very good. I had the beef in tomato sauce over rice. And the beef was very tender and flavorful. My husband had the«Daoxiao noodle»(knife sliced noodle) with beef shank. Very nice flavor and good portion size. The waitress tends to keep suggesting new dishes.

Used to be one of my favorites as a kid but recently, there seems to be less and less business. The place is quiet since there’s usually no more than two tables there at once. I always get the fried chicken over rice with that special, awesome sauce that they have. It’s only $ 4.50 so it’s more than a bargain! They do try to get you to order other things. Regardless, the bill has always come out to approximately $ 12 for two people and it leaves you satisfied. In response to Shawn S.‘s review: I think you just need to know how to order and steer away from the generic dishes. I do, however, agree that those crunchies could be pretty stale sometimes. Disappointing since that was my favorite thing about this place in the past.

Freshness is an issue. Went yesterday with my daughter. First off, it was 85 degrees and they had no AC and the door propped open. I went in there a decided to give it a change. My review HORRIBLE. The only thing decent was the glass of water. When we sat down, we got the bowl of wontons that tasted like it was made 7 days before. They were really hard and dry. Probably because they had been sitting out all day in a 90 degree restaurant. I ordered the chicken lo mein for my daughter, the general tso for me, and an order of shrimp dumplings for us to share. The wrapping on the dumplings was way too thick, it was like eating a munchkin with a tiny little shrimp in it. The chicken lo mein had very little scraggly looking chicken in it, some of it was way to dark and gristly-looked like beef and they really should have called it vegetable lo mein. My daughter LOVES this dish and after two bites, she said it was«yucky». My general TSO, which was the worst I have ever had, was obviously re-fried chicken because the coating was really tough– the sauce had no flavor, and the broccoli was almost raw. I took a few bites and after sitting in that hot place for about 30 minutes trying to get my daughter to eat more I gave up. GROSS. She really liked the sprite though. My bill was $ 26. I would have been better served if I had gone to the little chinese place with the bullet proof glass– at least the food taste fresh.
