I’ve known Carolyn since 2007 as a colleague, and she has consistently impressed me with her musicality and her accomplishments. She has incredible insights into music and the world, and she would be a perfect teacher for children, teens, or adults who want to discover new ways of being a pianist and a musician. She has a great capacity to find joy in what she does, and she imparts this to her students.
Often the most difficult part of learning piano is committing to it. Carolyn can inspire people, young and old, to find ever more interesting and fulfilling places to go with their music making. I highly recommend her to anyone who wants to learn.

Carolyn is an awesome teacher and musician of the level you don’t come across every day. She has top-​notch training as a pianist (and composer) and has taught piano to students of all ages. She and I co-​organized several recitals featuring our piano students, and her students were stellar. She loves teaching, and she brings joy to the process, which is super important. As a person, she is as open as she is creative, so she is very adaptive to students’ individual learning styles and unique interests. I would highly recommend studying with her whether you are looking just to try out piano lessons – keeping it fun, light and exploratory – or if you want serious study – with technique, harmony, serious literature. I’d also recommend her if you want to do more than just piano – including composing, improvising, or music theory. She knows a ton, and you or your child will have fun learning from her. She is a rare find!

I have a lot of good things to say about Carolyn!
Carolyn makes piano so interesting to my almost 18 year old daughter. My daughter wasn’t 100% sure if she wanted to start learning piano again, but after 15 minutes with Carolyn she couldn’t wait to start again! Carolyn knows how to teach piano and she caters to all kinds of different ways of learning the piano. My daughter has lessons years ago but wanted to get back to it. Carolyn made her feel at ease and my daughter TOOK OFF! She is a good role model for my daughter. Maddie is now in college but still sits at the piano when home and plays her favorites. Thank you Carolyn for all the good years here in San Diego. GOOD LUCK TO YOU and all the wonderful clients you will have in the future. They are so lucky.
