El Chavo Taco Stop

The best place to get tacos in Pasadena. I have been coming to this taco stop for over 10 years.

This place is the definition of Southern California Mexican food. Carne asada burrito is out of this world. You cannot go wrong here for a before the bar dinner or an after drunk snack. Such a great place!

Real cool people and consistent! Always order their «crunch’a’dilla» (al pastor or carne asada w/​salsa verde). Thank you to the «food angel» that directed us to this truck a block away from King Taco haha

Super yummy. Dependable. Nice guys. Meat is clean and tasty — had chicken, lengua, and asada burritos at various times. Good size with all the right stuff in it. Glad these guys are here, especially after a night out in Old Town.

We had been walling around looking for vegetarian nachos all around the area, until we came upon this place. They don’t have nachos on the menu, but the owner and cook were happy to oblige. They made us freshly made tortilla chips, guac, and piled on tons of toppings. Let me explain, they took tortillas and made the chips to order, not earlier in the day or night. It was so delicious! If you want nachos, call 30 min ahead to five them time o make the chips.

Amazing food! I come here every time l, after I drink in old town! Come visit! They are always here, right behind chase bank, they being quality Mexican food to the area. If you are craving good Mexican food, you must come here!

El Chavo is the best taco truck in Pasadena. Very nice employees and even better tacos! Hot sauce is HOT!!!

everytime i’m in old town pasadena after a long night of drinking i end up here.
the tacos and burritos here are satisfying.
if you love spicy foods, you gotta try their signature red hot sauce. straight fire but in a good way.
the people who work there are friendly and even gave me a free water bottle when i asked for a cup of water.
overall it’s been a great experience everytime i’ve gone and hits the spot every drunken night. i highly recommend!!!

Doesn’t matter if your getting a quick bite or need something after a bar crawl, this is the place to go; SERIOUSLY!!!

What can be said about El Chavo Taco Stop except that this Truck makes delicious food! Carnivore, vegetarian, drunk, sober or stoned, El Chavo Taco will tantalize your taste buds! I used to stop by after a long night of barhopping in Old Town Pasadena, now I stop by on my way back home from bicycling.
I have tried their Burritos, Quesadillas, Tacos & Tortas. I have taken countless friends & loved ones here over many years. They never fail to serve you the most tasty Mexican fare I have ever tasted & are super friendly! Both sides of the menu is very good! Even after becoming Vegetarian, I still swear by their Taco Truck. I have gone to other trucks around the area & they are by far THE BEST!!!
El Chavo Taco Stop is located on Arroyo Parkway below Colorado Boulevard but just above Green Street. They set-​up shop in the parking lot adjacent to Chase Bank. They operate Tuesday through Sunday starting at 9pm & don’t stop slangin’ Tacos, Tortas & Burritos until midnight, 2 or 3 AM. It depends on which day of the week you choose to visit them but you will not regret your decision!

My favorite taco truck around! This place is kicks King Taco’s butt! Quick service and the best street tacos in Old Town. It’s quite the hidden gem. Not nearly as crowded as KT after the bars let out but so much better! These guys deserve way more business, but in the mean time, I’ll cherish the short lines and delicious asada!

Overall a good food truck. Good tacos, burritos, quesadillas, and great prices!

This place is fabulous. Always has, always will be. It is my husband’s favorite food in the world too! It always makes him happy. (I am especially a big fan of their quesadilla.)

Mmmm Al Pastor burrito! I was debating between carne asada but damn, I had to get my Al Pastor. The spicy chili in it was delicious! Got some late night burritos after drinking last night. Dat burrito was huge and stuffed with goodness! Gotta have yo rabanos and limon with that burrito! Now, I’d like another one. Taco trucks are the best!

El Chavo is located inside the Chase parking lot on Arroyo. I ordered 1 carne asada taco and 1 al pastor. These tacos were different compared to other taco joints. The tortillas were very moist and the salsa was already on them. I really really liked them! Carne asada was tastier because it wasn’t spicy compared to the al pastor. The al pastor’s seasoning was very peppery and had a kick to it. Overall, a good taco place to get a late night snack. Prices were great too ($ 1.25 each). There was only a short line at midnight and they came out in minutes.

I have been coming to this truck for as long I can remember. They seem to get bounced around old town every few years. I remember when they were on Union and Fair Oaks just outside of McMurhpy’s.
If I could only pick one truck to go to I would pick this one. Other’s might do one thing better but overall this one is has a lot of variety Burritos, Tortas, Tacos, Quesadillas with a variety of meat.
The different style os meats they make are always good with my personal favorite being the Al Pastor. Although I think over the years it has gotten less spicy to accommodate their old town clientele.
If you are in old town and need a cheap place to eat or sober up check out this truck.
They have a twitter account but you can usually find them in the parking lot next to the Bally’s or just north of Green on Arroyo.

I stopped by here with a friend for a late night snack and we ordered 4 carne asada tacos. Um… 2 minutes later, we went back to the truck window and ordered 4 more tacos… and a quesadilla… and some HORCHATA.
Easily the best tacos I’ve ever had. I actually think about them on a daily basis, and I ate here in MARCH. The meat is juicy, nicely marinated, and perfectly grilled; it’s garnished with onions and plenty of fresh cilantro. Usually, the tortilla is an after-​thought and is just used to hold everything together. Not the case here, the flavor from the corn tortillas is outstanding and was probably my favorite part. I LOVE a good corn tortilla.
The food is bangin, the hot sauce is bangin. When your taste buds feel like they’re about to get burned off, you can take a sip of the smooth, vanilla-​y, cinnamony, milky, sweet horchata. *love*
If you follow my reviews, you’ll see that I’ve never given a Mexican place more than 3 stars, and that is because the taste of these tacos is forever engrained in my mind; I am forced to compare all other places to El Chavo Taco Stop… and nothing comes close.
The food here transcends 5 stars, into the 6^th star realm. Since we all know that’s impossible, I have chosen to make this my 100^th review. BOOM.
