This spot seems to be getting a lot of hate. Food is good lady running the joint is nice. It’s a typical Korean fry joint, good food average service. Don’t why people are so down on this spot.

OK… I’ve read the other«poor» reviews and decided I needed to give a little insight… 1) This restaurant was owned years ago by a family who knew and cooked«soul» food. It was sold to an Asian family who might not have the same recipes. 2) Like In-N-Out there is a «secret» menu… LOL! I too had an order or 2 of salty catfish so I asked for less salt and the owner explained they used premixed seasoning. So she suggested I order my fish«lightly battered, fried regular». Since then it’s been consistently good. 3) I have eaten in(absolutely no ambiance)… prefer phoning in and picking up. In my opinion it’s good fried fish I’m a fan!

This place sales old fish. My friend ordered fish 6÷5÷15, eat the fish, and about six hours later stomach began to cramp up. He said he did not eat anything but the fish on this date. He was sick for 24hours on the toilet. He said he attempted to take the fish back and discuss how sick he was the very next day and the owner did not want to hear it. Exclaiming this had never happen at his business before. My friend and I researched the company on the health department website to see what grade they had and the company’s name did not come up. This appears to be an illegal company and is not registered with the health department. Next we will be filing a complaint about the entire incident.

This place isn’t very good. I placed an order about a month ago and was surprised at how small the portions were, the fried food here is entirely too salty with very small sides and not to mention the store is extremely dirty. Fast forward to today, a family member wanted a order from this dump so I called up, this lady puts me on hold for 11 minutes, I hang up and called back and she acted like nothing happened at all as if I never called and when she remembered she started laughing… I hang up and hit Unilocal, don’t waste your time and take your business elsewhere ppl.

Food is really good and fresh! I will definitely come back here. People are nice. One tip… call ahead, it will take 15 min or more to cook your food. Love this place!

This is NOT a «soul food» restaurant. We ate there just before closing, they took our order, we said it was for there, While we were eating, one guy started mopping the floor! Smelly clorox laden scent wafted the air while we ate. The guy kept leaving the door open, we complained it was cold, one guy closed the door, a few minutes later it was left standing open .Rude! The fish was very salty, I would not return. Fifteen minutes before the posted closing time, another customer came in and was turned away, saying“we close” . NEVERAGAIN!

Sharon V. Even though the décor leaves A LOT to be desired we enjoy the fish from The Fishery especially the Catfish Dinners! The Fried Oysters are pretty good and even the Chicken. On occasion we’ve gotten a TOO salty piece of fish or two, some odd dry pieces of Chicken, the Greens are mostly fresh although could use a little more seasoning but these sort of things happen. I mean, even the best, cooks have an OFFDAY. So. I’d say it all boils down to personal preference really!(-: I give The Fishery 5, …well 4, Stars!(-:

WARNING: Stay away from this place! I went here because the place I usually buy from is closed for remodeling or something. The menu on the wall was confusing so I asked for a paper menu and ordered the sole. The lady said it would be 15 mins. I looked around and the place doesn’t look at all like the pics shown here. It could use a deep cleaning and a fresh coat of paint. The fridge section where you supposedly choose your fish was empty and dirty, looked like it hadn’t been used for quite some time. The signs on the wall were stained, the few plants they had on the counter were dying. I don’t understand how some people don’t take any pride in their own shop. I wandered next door to the Italian place. I only wish I would’ve gone there instead, but we wanted fish. $ 18.50 for 12pc. fish and bread. The bread was just some cheap generic-looking slices(4). It also came with tartar sauce and some kinda red sauce. I didn’t bother with either. The breading on the fish was kinda hard on some edges and too salty, the fish tasted«fishy». I will never go there again. Don’t waste your money.

A friend told me about this place. I’ve had better soul food but it wasn’t bad. I would come here again if it were down to two choices. Wouldn’t break my neck trying to get here though. Decent prices

Not not good. I have been wanting to eat there for years. Today I had a craving for wings. And remembered it next to Roma. I will never eat there again. Seven tiny, not even all 3 sections of the wings. Dry greasy not quality meat not juicy. I actually am lying on the couch waiting to feel better from the few pieces I ate.

Just happened by this place as I was trying checking out Roma. The sign out side said«YOUBUYITWEFRYIT» so I figured I’d go and and see what the fish selection was like. Not much in the display case, but they have: Catfish Red Snapper Perch Shrimp Oysters Sand Dab Dover Sole I got the Snapper dinner. Came with 5 pieces, fries and a choice of one additional side. I picked the Hush Puppies and was surprised they were PRETTYGOOD. Probably cause they were freshly fried, the hint of jalapeño was nice. The box was overflowing when it I got it. Came with tartar sauce, cajun hot sauce, ketchup and two pieces of wheat bread o_O? The fish was average, I feel like I should have gone with the catfish or dover sole. The place was empty and bit run down with only two tables for sit in dining. The Korean lady at the counter was pretty nice. She asked me where I was from and then proceed to speak to me in Korean. I replied back in my broken Korean that I wasn’t Korean, to which she laughed. They do the fish FRIED or GRILLED. She didn’t ask how I wanted it, although I probably would have went with fried anyway. I’d be willing to try it again. I noticed on the to-go menu that they have scallops, which I had a hard time finding on their actual menu.

I’m rectifying a mistake because I forgot to warn people about this place months ago, and I was reminded when driving by yesterday. Years ago I drove by and on a whim decided to stop for a fish dinner. The guys behind the counter fried it up proudly and I really quite enjoyed it. The only problem was that the place smelled quite strongly — and I’d remember that every time I thought about going back, and decide not to visit that day, but kept thinking that I would stop again some day. Which I did. Craving fish some months back, I walked in and asked if they sold it raw as is for customers to take home and cook themselves. After receiving an affirmative, I perused the selection(not impressive). Looking around I saw the setup was quite different than before, and got the impression ownership had changed between visits. Anyway, I put the fish in my refrigerator in order to take care of some things before cooking it, with subsequent regret. The refrigerator stank for days. When I opened up the package the smell made me wonder whether this was a safe experience or not. I cooked it and it smelled up the place. I don’t think either you or I have any question here about the facts — this stuff wasn’t fresh. In the restaurant itself you might get away with cooking and serving it without anybody knowing, but there was no doubt at home I took a serious risk. Going back to try them again? Eek! Methinks not.

O. K I lived in New Orleans for seven years. I know soul food. This is not it. I had the red snapper platter($ 6). It was actually well fried. The batter was very thin and crisp. But they only gave four small pieces. The fries were just normal frozen fries. The cole slaw tasted like something you can find at Albertsons. The place was very plain. A couple of plastic chairs and tables. I was there for two hours during lunch time. Besides me and my friends, six other people came in. I don’t know how they stay in business. I wouldn’t go there again. Now if you want cajun food, I would recommend the Boiling Crab. It’s as good any any cajun food I had when I lived in New Orleans.

Listening to Luda… Got the window down, I’m feeling real fucking gangster driving north on Lake Ave. Ludacris says«Catfish fried up dirty south fed». Without hesitation I roll up in the Fishery. The tiny parking lot shared with that Roma market(THATPLACESTINKS). I hop out my whip, leaving my blue bandanna next to my water pistol under my passenger seat. I’m rolling none deep so there shouldn’t be any trouble. I order some fried catfish, hush puppies, and extra hot sauce. Ten minutes later she summons me to the counter. She presents me with a large cardboard box. The grease stains made me secretly happy on the inside. I’m so hardcore — I don’t smile. I simply thank her and kept it pushing. Inside the box was crispy catfish — fried to perfection, two slices of wheat bread, hot sauce(Louisiana brand), and buttery hush puppies. I was going to take pictures but by the time I remembered, my hands were greasy and I couldn’t stop eating. This place is good. Don’t let the appearance fool you. The prices are reasonable and they have lunch specials for all you cheapies. This place wins over that other Louisiana joint up the street ;p

I usually go to another Fish place to get fried fish and chips. Since this is closer to my house, I decided to give it a try. The menu on the wall is a bit overwhelming. They have many lunch + dinner combo options that it makes it difficult to order a little bit of everything. I asked the lady if I could order three different pieces of fried fish to make my own combo, but she ended up taking an order of 3 lunch combos instead. Scratch that! I ended up with the Seafood platter because I couldn’t understand the menu and was just really hungry. I ordered Tilapia and later realized how fishy it was. I should have asked for Catfish instead. The fried mussels & shrimp were delish. The fried batter mix is tasty and crisp. I’ll give them another shot again and order wisely!
