Discovered this café in the Arcade while I was shopping in Pasadena and came in for a late lunch. The place smells like coffee and vanilla ice cream! We ordered the tuna sandwich and the pastrami sandwich. The pastrami sandwich was the best I’ve ever had. Big fluffy bun, juicy pastrami and pickles(but not too salty!), with a good mix of mustard and mayo and a nice bit of cabbage(it’s got veggies! Less guilt.) Vanilla Ice Cream float was delicious with a very generous scoop with real vanilla bean nibs(no extract here!). There’s a good selection of unique sodas(I got Boylan’s limited edition Apple Cider; partner ordered a Fentiman’s Cherry Cola.) Service was really prompt, but it is a little pricey and I wish the price of the sodas were marked(unless I’m wrong and it doesn’t make a difference?) Food comes in wire baskets for easy consumption in the café or outside on the patio. Floats came in wide mouthed mason jars. Ample parking in the back, and free Sunday street parking out front. I’d call this a really cute date spot for a warm spring day.

Their HOTCHOCOLATE you guys! It is half foamy and half hot chocolate, and I really love the foam because it feels like I’m drinking a cloud of creamy milk and chocolate. You can’t find this anywhere else! Got the PESTOCHICKEN sandwich and it was delectable. The chicken was tender and not dry and the bread was thick enough to hold the large amount of sauce the team put on the sandwich. It came with fresh tomatoes and sun-dried tomatoes. Also tried the BACONTURKEY sandwich which is by far, my favorite of the two. I like that it was a sandwich worthy of a filling up a «dude» or «bro» and not a «babe». Nai’msayin? Meaning it can fill ya up! The bread is thick, the layers of green is thick, the turkey layer is as thick as the tomato slice, and the avocado and bacon are just a perfect combo that this sandwich left me wanting more. I love the name design and the Arcade arches. This place is perfect for a lunch date or friend date. Free parking on Sundays! to TRYNEXTTIME: the Floats!

So, In my recent(and very short) migration back to the land of Pasadena — Float has become one of my go-to spots for a cup of coffee. It also has become a part of a recent discovery that Pasadena has amassed an entire collection of strip malls that are referred to as «arcades.» Who knew? Anyways — this place has been a great place to get coffee. Here’s how I’d slice it. Place: Cute, quaint, chill. Not much room for indoor seating but I’ve never been there when it has been overly crowded. People: Great. Service has always been kind and prompt. (most importantly) Coffee: Latte’s — great. I’d recommend either their base latte or a vanilla, iced latte. My favorite part is that they don’t include Starbucks levels of sweetener. Cold Brew — aight. Has been a hit or miss. Chai’s — pretty good. Food: Pretty solid! Sandwiches have been good. :) Ice Cream: In the words of my boyfriend«PAUL — THEPEACHICECREAM, PAUL.

After our adventure in finding the owner of a driver license that we found in a parking lot. We decided to celebrate our great samaritan deed by getting a float to celebrate. So… this review is only based on the root beer float I had. Check-in: $ 1 off of a build your own float. Totally remember this deal after I purchased my float. I’ll make sure to remember next time to check-in before paying. Ice Cream: They use fossilman’s ice cream! Located: Located in the Burlington Arcade Plaza Ambiance/décor: Very cute little place with minimal seatings inside. There are more seats outside that you can catch up with friends while enjoying a sandwich or a float. Service: Staffers were very patient, friendly, informative, and attentive with us as we were soaking in the ordering process of the«build your own float» concept. Float of choice: I decided to go with the build your own float… with Frostie’s root beer(closely resembles A&W) and for the ice cream, I decided on the cookie dough ice cream. The combination of the root beer and ice cream went well together like peas and carrots. The drink reminded me of my childhood… oh how I miss those days. Toodles! :)
