Great spot to pick up lunch, short wait for a yummy chicken curry bowl. You can customize the grilled veggies on your bowl. I’ve also tried their iced coffee. I hope to try their shaved ice when it’s a little warmer outside.

Just discovered this spot across the street from my work, gonna keep this review short and sweet, but I will quite impressed with my Pork Belly bowl, it was tasty and the portion was perfect! Will recommend this to all my coworkers!

Down the street from the busy atmosphere of the Cheesecake factory, where people throw away their money for food way too expensive for it’s own good, sits a lonely little Bistro called Halfsies. I can only describe it as a fusion cuisine that takes the best of Asian, Indian and Spanish dishes. In many ways the rice bowls are similar to a Korean dish called Bibimgbap. Traditionally, Bibimgbap is a mix of hot rice, meat, cold vegetables, and topped with a hot paste and usually topped with a fried egg. Halfsies gives you rice mixed with lettuce, 5 choices of vegetable toppings, a type of protein(chicken, pork, beef, etc… vegetarians get 2 extra choices of vegetables) and instead of a hot paste, you get to choose a specific type of sauce; which ranges from a curry sauce, asian peanut sesame, chilpotle vinegar, a bulgogi bbq flavor, etc. No fried egg, but the food still taste delicious without it. They also have some bowls with set ingredients, but creating your own bowl is the way to go and is so much more fun. Yes, you would be risking making something that doesn’t go together well, but it’s cool to figure out what works and what doesn’t. I had the curry sauce, chicken and other vegetables which included Spicy Mushrooms. It ended up being awesome! If you’re down with experimental cuisine, or just want to try something different and fresh, give this place a try. A meal only cost 8 dollars, and the staff is super nice. If you like bland food where the service is fake and impersonal; Cheesecake factory is down the street waiting to eat up your cash.

I had the wonderful experience of dining here on last Friday Night. The food was delicious. Just the right portions. Parking was easy and free. They were friendly. The place is very hip and casual. Also a thank you from the Academy of Special Dreams for ALL that they do for the community.

Cute place with colorful décor and fun pillows in the seating area. They had great art displayed by Tom; an artist from the Academy of Special Dreams who paints with the wheels of his wheelchair. Cool! You can custom order your meal by choosing fresh vegetables and toppings. Their Beef Strogonoff is perfect with tender chunks of beef and plenty of mushroom. Their Pork Belly was really flavorful and came with some kimchi. I want to try everything on the menu! I will be back.

Went to dinner last night, and was pleasantly surprised by all the fresh and healthy food choices! I tried their chicken curry bowl, and must say that it was very delicious! It had just the right amount of spice that delivered balanced flavors and seasonings within the dish. Portions are good, and prices are very affordable. They also have a great selection of shaved iced and boba tea drinks, too. LOVED the matcha green boba tea! I noticed that they where showcasing very cool paintings of artist Tom Doyle, who is actively involved in The Academy of Special Dreams, and I am happy to hear that Halfsies supports our community of artists with special needs. Lastly, I may add that staff is friendly and eager to provide you with excellent service!.. I will recommend Halfsies to all my friends!

Delicious! Sampled several of their fusion bowls with a group of friends. All were tasty and beautifully prepared with generous portions. I especially loved the tequila lime sausage. So yummy — interesting and flavorful. Staff was wonderfully helpful and attentive.

We discovered this little jewel while walking along Fair Oaks Blvd a couple of blocks north of Colorado Blvd. The menu is a delicious mix of traditional comfort food(e.g., the Beef Stroganoff bowl) with a little fusion of Indian and Asian cuisine. The Curry Chicken packs a tasty wallop. The Pork Belly is exquisite. And, you can refresh yourself with a variety of flavors of Italian soda but I prefer the Boba drinks especially the Matcha. Or, coffee from Intelligentsia is a very nice after dinner treat.

The food was really two stars for me, but I’m rounding up cause the staff was cool and trying really hard. It’s obvious this place is new. They’re still a little shaky about what goes in what, etc. The bowls are a decent value for $ 8, but I didn’t like the chicken curry bowl much at all. The chicken was a little too tough(at least there was a ton of it!), and the cucumbers and corn salsa definitely had a sour taste to them. Not good. Hopefully things get better and I’ll come back and update my review!

Boba was undercooked. I ordered a pomegranate iced tea not sure if the server used the same shaker for me and my friend becuase my tea tasted alot like an almond milk tea lol. Food was okay but it’s definitely not the best tasting.

They seem to be a classic case of trying to do much and making things complicated. I have watched as the sign said 24 hours, down to limited hours down to – closed and no hours listed. Are they going the way of the Indian restaurant a few doors down from them? Seems like it. I actually tried the food and it wasn’t bad. It was the service that was all messed up — like they had no process for doing things. Hope they figure it out because it is a great space and has potential. Simplify the menu. Get rid of all the extras.

I hope I caught them on a bad day. It took 35 minutes to place a lunch order and get my food, just a salad and soda to go. I was second in line. Only the chicken had to be cooked, maybe it was frozen? And then the cook didn’t include the dressing, which I didn’t figure out until I got back to my office. That was disappointing, it was pretty bland without it. The staff seemed very disorganized, as if they were new. The person assembling the salad ingredients kept questioning my choices. Lots of running back and forth by both the folks at the counter and a few trips to work in the kitchen, maybe the cook was new too? It was not busy, so not sure what was going on.

This review is for the rice bowls and omelettes. The rice bowls were super good, especially with the pork belly. Omelettes were really flavorful and i love the country potatoes. I’ve also tried their pastas and boba and i would not recommend these items. Pastas tasted like oil and boba tasted old.

This place just opened right next to Tortas Mexico in Old Town Pasadena. We walked buy and was interested to see what this place was about. It was very clean and open. The guy was very nice and explained everything to us. They are still new so they didn’t have many things ready just yet. We got to try a sample of the grilled beef with Korean BBQ over jasmine rice. It was good but don’t expect it to be authentic. My friend wanted tea and they didn’t have that yet. So, I bought a chocolate chip cookie. The chocolate chip cookie was good. I would come back and get it. Couple days later we happen to pass by again and I decided to try a pasta bowl. I got fettuccine with Monterrey jack, onions, tomatoes, and grilled chicken with tequila lime sauce. It was good. not too creamy but it was oily. The chicken was very flavorful. Overall the pasta was good, not bland at all and decent price. This place has a cool concept. I will be back to try more stuff and update my review.

For some odd reason I was an early bird and decided to get breakfast at one of the places in Old Town Pasadena when I just came upon this little cute space! Reminds me of a classroom sorta but cute in a french café sorta way. Their omelette with country potatoes, coffee, and an almond croissant were all excellent! Definitely going back next time I’m in the Old Town Pasadena area and so should you! P. s. this place is pretty great for studying if you are a student at the local colleges *cough* PCC’ers and CalTech’ers *Cough*

Place is amazing, staff really helped with the selection and the adobo chicken bowl is bomb. The menu selection is short since they are making a new menu but their breakfast is hour is busy due to the omelet and coffee rush. Don’t let its look fool you. P. S. Apparently they also have tacos after midnight on the weekend for those who are hungry after leaving the bars.

Good selection on grand opening day. Will give it some time to break in and get the staff trained. Good promotions once you get on their list.

Halfsies fits a very specific niche that has yet to be covered in Old Town, and I’m definitely a fan. Their $ 8 combo lets you pick a half sandiwch, a soup AND a salad. Take that, Corner Bakery & Panera. And I gotta say, everything was well-prepared & tasted good. Let’s review: turkey sandwich — served on foccacia bread with lettuce & tomato tomato basil soup — I think they used chicken broth as a base, and thickened the soup a little with bread. This was good penne pasta salad — perhaps the weak point of my trio. Wasn’t great, but it wasn’t awful, either. The seating is large-style picnic tables, and some counter-height stools along the side. It’s a really interesting space that encourages you to get to know some of your fellow diners. They offer a local area discount if you can show a work badge. Halfsies definitely gets a spot on the lunch rotation! I’ll be coming here. A lot.

Friendly service m modern, clean look n feel but food is pretty ick. Lemon blueberry Madeline was dry and not flavorful. The b&c salad is just straight nasty– I’m talkin smell n taste — do not get. I’m trashing my 3 $ discounted serving as I type w one hand. What a waste of fresh ingredients, pretty unfortunate. Maybe they’ll get it together by their official grand opening on August 8th. Coffee cake sample was good, if you’re into that, like j k.
