If you are looking for some decent Mexican food, drive by La Estrella and just keep on driving because this restaurant is the very definition of sub-par. More like sub-sub-par. I can’t stand when restaurants use nacho cheese instead of REAL cheese on the nachos. Their tacos were terrible. I threw away my meal. It wasn’t even edible. Sad but seriously, don’t waste your hard earned $$ on this place.

You people… Seriously guys. This place. Yeah it just kinda sucks. I have tried it twice. The second time its right off the freeway and I thought I got it wrong the first time. I actually asked the cashier if they have a specialty. He shrugged and said they are all eh. Chicken was tough and dry. You 4 and 5 star people? Go to East LA. Your minds will be blown away

Definitely a good fast food. I was ordering here many times and nothing to complain:) If you have a few minutes and you’re hungry just come here!

Rude customer service coupled with filthy tables and add to that chunks of fat in the asada, I say thanks but no thanks. As a 8 year loyal customer, I’ve seen this place go downhill. I’m not expecting top notch service but the guys behind the window act like they could be doing a hundred other things besides being there serving up some meat on a tortilla.

Not very impressed. I came here the morning of New Year’s Day for some carbs to start my year. I called in to place my order and they said my order will be ready in about 10 min so I head straight over. When I got there, I told them that I called in my order and paid the bill. It then took about another 15 – 20 min for them to make my food, which annoyed me a bit because I thought it would be a grab and go situation. The purpose of me calling in is to avoid waiting… Regardless, I was excited for my food given all the good reviews on Unilocal. We ordered a breakfast burrito and California burrito. The California burrito was not bad but I’d give it a 3.5÷5 — it was safe but not spectacular. The breakfast burrito, on the other hand, was so bland — it was primarily filled with rice and beans with little substance and flavor. Word of advice: don’t get the breakfast burrito. I wouldn’t come here again unless it was the only place open.

The kids and I have always loved this place especially as Pasadena residents. Close by, authentic, clean, busy but they move pretty quick I guess-seems like they’re open all the time. Today I’m ordering dos tostadas pescado, coctel de Cameron, tacos de buche and a burro de pescado. Bummed that they don’t have coctel de mixta today OR tostadas de Cameron-especially when we haven’t been here in a minute. UPDATE I will never return here after today. Our coctels spilled all in the bag in my car, the tostadas were wrong and not tostadas at all, when I opened my taco it was flipped and not placed in the tin foil correctly. My sons fish burrito was soaked. They were so unprepared and careless today. Totally changed since I knew them last. Makes me wonder how clean they are these days in the back.

This La Estrella is literally right around the corner from my house. The food is really good and is a great place to grab and go.

The food was pretty good. I tried the asada, lengua, and al pastor tacos. I wouldn’t say they were the best, but they were pretty delicious. I enjoyed the quantity of meats they give you, and I liked both the red and green sauces. Great flavor, and prices were reasonably cheap. This place isn’t a dine-in restaurant and the outdoor eating area is kinda dirty, so I recommend taking it to go. But I definitely recommend this place for quality Mexican food!

I was craving Mexican food on a Thursday night so I decided to try out this joint, recommended by a friend. My first impression of la Estrella was the prices, everything was hella cheap! I got the carne asado burrito and a chicken taco and both were delicious. The portions included a lot of meat and along with the fresh vegetables, sour cream, and guac made for one hell of a burrito. The outdoor seating was somewhat bad since it was cold outside but the food more than made up for it. I definitely recommend this place for some quick delish Mexican food!

The carnitas tacos are a must! The cabeza tacos are a close second. I tried the carnitas, cabeza, asada, and al pastor. All very delicious, except the asada steak didn’t have much flavor and was pretty chewy. Their hot salsa is also very tasty. They provide parking in the back and the wait isn’t too long usually.

Been here 3x in hopes that the food be better every time I go. Unfortunately, it never happens. The food is ok, but I prefer the La Estrella in Foothill. They have way better tasting meat. The people here are rude too. There are no napkins and utensils around. If you ask for it they will give you attitude. My friend ordered burrito with cheese, when she got it there were no cheese. Instead of them Fixing it, they just gave her a small plate of shredded cheese. What kind of service is that?!!

I went here with my housemate a few days ago since we were craving carne asada fries and it was close by. Naturally, we ordered carne asada fries and a California burrito. That was the first time I had a California burrito with lettuce in it. It was also the first time I had carne asada fries with nacho cheese, but it wasn’t bad. The person we ordered from was pretty rude though(very impatient; had a bad attitude). Other than that, I would say that it was alright.

I ordered from DoorDash and the food was terrible. How does this restaurant have four stars! I’ve grown up my entire life in Los Angeles eating Mexican food from restaurants, stands, trucks and this is by far the worst. Truly gives Mexican food a bad rep. The Chicken and Lengua tacos were dry and tasteless(even after pouring ounces of salsa). The Fish Ceviche numbed my tongue(wtf!), it tasted and smelled like it had been sitting out in the sun for a week. The Coctel de Cameron(shrimp cocktail) was drowned in brown cilantro, had only three over cooked shrimps and was accompanied by stale packaged crackers. What a combo, mouth full of cilantro, stale crackers, and nasty shrimp. Yum. Save your time and money, eat anywhere else. Seriously ANYWHERE! Sad to say, but they might want to re-brand themselves as the Taco Bell of South Pasadena.

I love this place. The burritos are the perfect size. Service is excellent. They don’t try to overcompensate nor do they make you feel like an idiot. They’re very down to earth, and I love that. Food is excellent and parking is pretty good. I tend to go there right before the lunch crowd and I’ve never had to look for street parking. However, their parking lot is on the smaller side.

Who ever coined the phrase«Hole in a Wall» never walked into a «House of Gold»! How else could they have known that a small dingy place could serve up delicious and tasty tacos! I believe three key ingredients makes a good taco, starting with the Tortilla, cannot break apart or harden after a few minutes, the Meat, should be flavorful without tasting salty, and the Salsa should enhance the flavors without compromising quality or taste. Simple ingredients but some taquerias make it rather complex to enjoy!

When my hubs and I moved into our new house we did a fair amount of remodeling and spent many a night sitting on the bare floors eating takeout. I could always eat tacos, love them. This was the taco spot that we ate most of our dinners from in those first few months. The tacos are awesome, inexpensive, and super filling. I usually order the beef or the pork tacos. They pack these tacos to the brim with meat, onions, cilantro and a salsa roja that isn’t for the faint of heart. The food is quality, as is the service and most importantly they are perfect for the budget conscience. La Estrella was my saving grace for the first six months we lived in our new place, and for that I will be forever grateful.

BOOM! After hours tacos! I mean after-after hours. This place is packed late night, early morning so be ready to hang out. Delicious! And at that hour of the night, authentic street tacos packed with flavor for less than $ 2 each, can not be beat. P. S. Respect the sauces.

LAESTRELLAISCASHONLYYYYYY! There’s a generic ATM on site, but if you can avoid it then that’d be perfect. Minus how dangerous the parking lot CAN be, this place isn’t bad. The Estrella burrito is pretty epic and I highly recommend it to all meat lovers. It’s pure meat wrapped in a tortilla. The California burrito is also pretty good. All the burritos are pretty fat and they are quite filling. The quesadilla has fresh melted cheese that became my new favorite. Their ceviche came in large portion. it wasn’t the best ceviche, but it was okay. The tacos are small, so be sure to order a few if you do choose to take that route. There’s some seating outdoors, but this place is definitely NOT the place for large parties. The orders can take 10+ minutes but its sure worth the wait!

I absolutely love this place. I usually get carne asada burrito or tacos. Getting the tacos with rice on the top makes it more flavorful. The red and green salsa are both very good. I tried a bean and cheese burrito but there was way too much cheese. Next time I may try with rice. They have very good horchata, but sometimes they don’t have it. I come here every time I come to California.

I think the guys who work here hate their lives and take it out on their customers. Like, why are you glaring at me and saying all these Spanish words, I just want napkins and a water cup… The food is good, but I wouldn’t say it’s extraordinary or any different than most taco establishments. Also, the carne Asada fries suck and could best be described as 20 pieces of fries in a puddle of cheese and onions. Don’t order it. This location only has outdoor seating, so it could get pretty chilly.
