the SALSA. OK, ok, ok, I stated the obvious perhaps. But seriously now, their salsa is worthwhile when you feel like taking your time eating– because you know, the longer you’re there, the longer you can take of advantage of that free salsa bar. I mean, it may seem absurd on how much I’m emphasizing the salsa, but that’s because I’m the type who eats salsa with a spoon. This place, unlike most, has a LARGE variety of salsa’s you can choose from. I admit that I don’t understand genuine Mexican cuisine, but this place is a-ok in my books.

One of the universal truths in my life is that tacos = happiness! Taco Tuesday is my favorite day of the week. There is always room for jello? Hell no, my motto is «there is always room for tacos!!!» So how is it that today my universal truth changed? The forces of nature pulled the rug out from under me… and today… tacos = sadness and fail:( Calling this La Salsa mediocre would be a high complement. The staff was robotic, unfriendly, barely conscious, and barely communicative. The food was overpriced and underwhelming. I had one chicken taco, one beef taco, rice, and beans. Both the chicken and beef were overcooked and under seasoned. The rice was cold, hard, and tasted like plastic. The beans were watery and tasted like nothing. The chips tasted old and stale. No surprise that we were the only table in the place… at lunchtime… and classes were in session across the street at PCC. There is alot of competition for customers on that stretch of Colorado Blvd… I will not be surprised when La Salsa goes out of business.

It’s pretty silly to compare this to more authentic, hole-in-the-wall places to grab a burrito. I think that in this fast-casual, Americanized Tex-Mex market, La Salsa is better than comparable eateries like Chipotle, Baja Fresh, Rubio’s, etc. Unless those places, La Salsa has an open salsa bar. The burros can range from all veggie, to loaded with meat and cheese like the«overstuffed». It’s your call, and it’s all fast. Not too expensive, either.

Had the grilled fish burrito … Very tasty(ask for extra sauce). The prices are wallet friendly. Has a fresh salsa bar.

I got the California veggie burrito and a drink, it wasn’t so bad but it wasn’t great either. That is why you want the real Mexican food that SoCal is famous for be daring and try a hole in a wall Mexican restaurant that is packed to the brim with people spilling out the door. A good example of that is Huaraches Azteca in my neighborhood, good luck getting a grab to eat in the morning on weekends. Two stars is a solid«meh» rating Would I be back? Doubt it I came I saw and conquered I came to the restaurant, I saw the menu and conquered my meal with relative ease. Ha chump change!

You’re halfway through your CA Veggie Burrito with no cheese when you realize that they messed up your order. What do you do? Fast food burritos are not really known for distributing all ingredients evenly throughout. You tend to hit things at different levels. I started consuming the side with mostly rice, lettuce, and avocado. As I dwindled down to the beans, I tasted that hint of dairy. I look down and lo and behold, cheese. For mediocre yet convenient food that’s under $ 5, is it worth bringing the error to their attention? Because(a) how do you explain that you ate half the burrito before realizing that they put cheese in it? and(b) you’re already pretty full from eating half the burrito. Regardless, I thought it was important to raise their awareness about attention to detail. I stood at the counter waiting for the gentleman that assembled my burrito. The cashier gal noticed me standing there and asked if she could help me. I calmly explained that I asked for no cheese in my burrito and I found cheese. Her initial reaction was«Are you sure?» which always makes me nervous thinking I’m gonna have to really defend my claim. I proceeded to show her but before she even looked at it, she began to correct the matter. She checked with the guy who assembled my burrito. They both apologized and said that they will make me a new burrito. Wow, ok! That’s really cool of them! The guy brought out a new burrito within a few minutes and I was happy :) I took a few bites then wrapped up the rest. As I was leaving, they stopped me to offer a to-go bag and apologized once more for the inconvenience. While La Salsa is not necessarily outstanding food, I was very impressed by the customer service at this location. I appreciate their willingness to keep patrons happy :)

I very rarely walk around Pasadena, especially directly from my condo, but one weekend I did and dropped by La Salsa for lunch. I was pleasantly surprised at how good their food was. I ordered the shrimp burrito and shared the nachos with carne asada. Both were great and satisfied my Hispanic food cravings. What I really liked about their joint is the salsa bar. There were a good 7 – 8 different type of salsa that I can choose from. I became a mad scientist and created some pretty unique sauces on my own… muhahahaha. I’m going again tonight during halftime… but maybe drive this time around so I can get back in time for the game.

Loooooooove their Baja Fish Tacos. I believe it’s their baja sauce that keeps me coming back. I was sad when they closed down the one that was on Lake Blvd(a while back), but when they opened this place RIGHT across the street from Pasadena City College, I was SO happy! The price may be a little steep for the type of food they serve, but I’m never dissatisfied with their Baja Fish Tacos. Come to think of it, I might go there some time this week for lunch! :D

OK. I don’t like any of this fresh Mex stuff but of the fresh Mex joints, La Salsa is my favorite and this local is good. Why do I like La Salsa? There is only one reason to like La Salsa. La salsa’s hot sauce is HOT! The best spicy stuff that a wanna be Mexican place has ever had. Why can’t the other fresh Mex Anglo spots get some picante? mi gusta muy picante! very hot = I like it

Good Cali Mex food. It’s not authentic Mexican food but its yummy, fullfilling, u get ur money worth– which is what I look for. The overstuffed burrito for 7 bucks can feed u for two meals, unless u are a heavyweight eater. The restaurant is clean, quick food, okay(nothing fancy) service, plenty of salsa to select from and well supplied utensils and other items, and organized. Busy location, across from pcc n on Colorado next to plenty of shops but I came at a good time where there was open parking spots. I would come again. Save urself $ 5 use an entertainment book coupon.

Very tasty food. The menu proved to be confusing — items were advertised outside, that I couldn’t find in the menu inside.

La Salsa is my favorite [cali] Mexican place. This location is my favorite La Salsa. Here’s why: they put guacamole on the tacos at no extra charge! Also, I can eat just one taco(price — $ 3.18) and be totally stuffed! It’s loaded with lettuce, cheese, and tomato and comes with free chips and salsa. BONUS: This location has a frequent visitor card where you get 10% off every third order. I also LOVE La Salsa’s avocado salsa, and all their other salsas. I can’t find better salsa anywhere. But I guess you better make damn sure you have fantastic salsa if you’re gonna call your restaurant La Salsa.

La Salsa is where I come when I want a veggie burrito even before I went all out veggie. They have a California burrito with either black or refried beans… I like the black beans. I can’t remember what else is in it but guac but it is good and you can add meat to this burrito. One thing that is my favorite thing is their salsa bar. It has cilantro, onions, several salsas with different heats, those spicy carrot things but… I LOVE the habaneros hot sauce. Usually habaneros sauce is just hot and no flavor but this one has flavor. Park in the back and make sure you don’t parking in BOFA’s 15 minute parking… unless you eat really really fast… but there is a security guy outside the bank so maybe don’t chance it at all.
