We had your basic burrito. Which was outrageously expensive. The service was good, but be there before the rush or you can get caught standing for the next available table. I don’t think we will be returning, 2 burritos for almost $ 20. It was just meat, rice, and beans. NOTHINGMORE.

Lot of great hole-in-wall Mexican joints in Pasadena. Lupitas is certainly one of them. Decided to come here for lunch today and I was totally impressed by the freshness and quality of the food. They’re located on strip lot in Sierra Madre Plaza. Parking is shared with other businesses and restaurants so it can be a challenge, especially during lunch hour. Your best option is street parking. The restaurant itself is small, but cozy. Prices are very reasonable and portions are just right. I ordered the beef taco and enchilada combo($ 1) plate which comes with rice and beans. OMG so delicious! The shredded meat to vegetable ratio was perfect on the taco. Everything tasted fresh, including taco shell. The enchilada sauce was divine, loaded with melted cheesy goodness and shredded beef filling. What’s not to love? A bit mild on the spiciness, but at least their was hot salsa present. Love the rice and beans as well. Great friendly staff and quick service. They actually go out of their way to accommodate you and get you seated, even when the place is full. Bottom line, I found myself a new place for lunch.

Lupita’s has the best bean and cheese burritos in the area, hands down. Also, the deluxe chile relleno is pretty amazing. I’ve never had anything I didn’t like here. I highly recommend.

Great food and friendly service. Got a fantastic recommendation of the Chile Rellano with Carnitas enchiladas. Chile Rellano is a must here! Nice family restaurant

I came here for lunch a few days ago with my mom. We shared the Arroz Con Pollo which was amazing. Not one complaint about that. It’s definitely big enough for 2 people to share. The salsa they give you when you are first seated is great too. Everything I have tried there has good flavor.

Excellent wet burritos and toasty chips and salsa, the servers are very friendly and helpful, the male server server, sorry for forgetting his name, offered a toreado(grilled jalapeño) to spicy up my appetite, super good! I don’t usually write reviews but I promised them I would make a nice review and here it is, best authentic Mexican food in town! Keep up the good work!

Had a very good experience during our first visit to Lupita’s. We had fish tacos and cheese enchiladas with chips/salsa — ended with a taste of flan. The fish tacos were very good except the fish inside was breaded(vs. some of the other fish tacos I have had was made out of actual fish). Regardless, the sauce, lime and content made the tacos taste real good. The cheese enchiladas were also quite nice and fresh. We also like the flavor of the rice and beans, which was not overly cheesy :) The hostess was very pleasant and helpful and the owner was also very friendly. We plan to visit this place again sometime!

When I came I had high expectations for the enchiladas suizas but they weren’t that great. And it was so expensive. We payed almost $ 30 for 2 enchiladas without rice and beans and flautas with rice and beans and 2 jamicas, at other Mexican restaurants you can feed 4 people under $ 30. Won’t be going back again.

Ordered the shrimp tacos because they appear to emphasize mariscos on their menu. Unfortunately, I took them to go, or else I would have sent them back. Overcooked to the point of being inedible. Moreover, the coke from their fountain tasted improperly mixed. I suppose the rice and beans weren’t too bad. But the chips had that dirty used cooking oil taste. The whole place was plastered with advertising for a fairly conservative Christian megachurch. Business owners should be aware that when they overtly advertise a particular faith, it makes those of us who are not of that faith wonder if perhaps we are not welcome. Mixing business with religion is perfectly legal(generally), but business owners take a risk when doing so. Moreover, I have to wonder, is the money I spend in your establishment going to be used against me in the future? Will it fund anti-abortion protests? Donald Trump for President? Gay conversion therapy? See the problem with advertising a particular religion within your business? But really, that’s besides the point, given how terrible the food was.

Good food and friendly service. If they’re crowded, you may need to stand as you wait. Lunch hour is especially busy.

I used to come here for lunch often and then I noticed that the cashier with the mustache and crew cut kept speaking to me in Spanish even though I kept replying back in English. I told him that my Spanish is not so good. He shook his head and spoke to me in fluent English with a slight accent. He then kept mumbling «Ahhhhhh, no habla Español.» In a very disappointed tone. The food is very greasy.

I’ve been here 3 times now, so I feel I can write a fair review. Only gotten it to-go. Most of their food is great. The burritos, tacos, and nachos(beef nachos — must get!!!) are amazing. I had the chicken enchilada once, and it just wasn’t that great. Lesson learned — I’ll stick to what I know. They make the guacamole fresh and it’s really good. They give you plenty of chips and salsa even when you order takeout which I think is awesome. Only a few downsides for me that made me take away a star… It’s pretty pricey for Mexican food — over $ 30 for two people usually. The parking is a nightmare — not really their fault though. They put their closed sign out about 15 minutes before they actually close. I’ve gotten here at 8:45 and the sign was out and they would not make me a to go order. Overall though, I love it!

I ate here twice last week while I was in Pasadena for work, and both times were equally as good. I travel a lot for work and always look for good Mexican food when I’m on the l road. Lupita’s is one of the best I have found so far. I’m just glad I have to be back in Pasadena in a couple of weeks, I plan to stop back in at least once while I’m there. I had the burrito gordito and it was delicious. Not to mention their salsa, some of the best I have ever had. I can’t wait to go back.

I love this place! They have great food and great service! I always have a pleasant time when it’s either the guy waiter or the girl waiter(sorry I don’t know their names but is usually just them 2) and the owner is so nice and humble. I usually get the flauta combination plate as it is my favorite there but I’ve tried other dishes and they’re really good. Their salsa I don’t find it spicy at all but it’s so addictive I just love it lol

On the outskirts of Pasadena, here you find a wonderful, quaint Mexican restaurant serving gourmet Mexicano food~! For starters, the chip and salsa is lovely, but the true gem is actually their entrees. I love, über love, the pollo senerense here, chicken with a tomato base sauce with onions served with rice and beans. True delight for my senses. A bit difficult to sit one person, since they don’t have that many tables, but don’t hesitate to go! Bring your friends, sit down and eat a feast!

I came here right after I went to Plate 38 because my friends were still hungry and wanted to chow down on some Mexican food. Once you sit down, the server gives you some nachos and some salsa and pico de gallo to go along with it. I wish it was guacamole but it’s okay. My friends ordered a combo of the carne asada enchiladas and the carne asada tacos with beans and rice. We all got horchatas and they were pretty good. It was watered down though. The carne asada meat was pretty dry, and they put tomatoes, onions, cilantro, and lime to top it off. It seemed like an Americanized taco to me, reminded me of Taco Bell actually. Eh, The service was great, and the price was A-ok. Would definitely go to Michoacan for some authentic Mexican food in Lincoln Heights on Broadway. I’m assuming it wasn’t all that great to me because I had gone here after eating so much at Plate 38. I’ll give this place another try whenever I get the chance to come across it again. I’m not going to give them a dry 3 stars because it was my fault for being full and not having an appetite to begin with before I came here. So 4 stars for the good service and chef’s preparation!(:

Looking for a solid Mexican food experience for great value? Look no further. This place was such a pleasant surprise to both my taste buds and my wallet. We ordered their carnitas plate and taco combination both were accompanied with rice and beans. They serve beer here, so you know nothing goes better than an ice cold beer with some yummy Mexican food. I got the Modelo to wash down the food. Service was also on point. Very friendly staff that got the food to our table almost immediately. The whole meal was under $ 30. I just hate it when you pay for food and receive and lack luster experience. This wasn’t the case at all! Look, I may speak Spanglish, but I do know some bueno Mexican comida once it hits mi boca. Go get yo Mexican comida on! Cheers!

I’m so glad to have found this place right when I moved to my new apartment! The restaurant is tucked away in the corner of a small shopping center(same one as Plate 38). They close every day at 9pm — take out available, of course! You can really tell that everything here is truly authentic Mexican comida and is made with love. I had the enchilada suiza(2 enchiladas w/rice & beans) & my b/f had the shrimp ceviche. The ceviche had a generous portion :] and they had amazing flavor to it. I’ve had other ceviche in the past and some of them were so bland, but Lupita’s ceviche was just how we both liked it. The lady who took our order was also very kind and patient with us as we decided what to order. I’ve decided that we will be coming back here. I cannot wait to try more items off of their menu… I want to try pretty much every single dish listed, haha.
