Um, let’s just say I wish I didn’t try this place. I ended up starving for lunch. A little pricey for the horrible quality in sushi served. I got the spicy tuna roll. On my second cut I was grossed out by how awful it tasted and the third one I saw a piece of hair. And that’s exactly when I got up threw it away and left. I will never be back. I held off on writing this review but I couldn’t help it. Sorry!

The curry chicken rice is pretty good. Decent amount of curry sauce and frosted chicken. I went there ordering this every time.

The superman burrito is addictive! My favorite on the go meal in town. The service is pretty bad, and there is zero atmosphere, but I always grab and go. I walked in 2 minutes after closing once and they would not let me place my superman burrito order to go. There were still people eating and the guy was rude, but I still go back because of that superman burrito.

I love their daily specials. I got the Thursday special and I chose beef so they charged an extra $ 1. The special comes with meat, rice, salad, 4 pcs Cali roll, 4pcs spicy tuna, miso soup OR drink. All for under $ 15

If I can give a place negative 5 stars, this would be it. Do yourself a favor and never waste time and money on this place. I was starving when the food arrived but no amount of hunger could make me eat the disgusting inedible crap they serve here. This was unfortunately the only place that delivered gyoza in my area so my wife and I decided to order food here. My biggest mistake was not looking at the reviews and photos and assuming the 3.5 overall star rating wasn’t a red flag(there are other restaurants that are way better than this but have 3.5 stars), but honestly this place deserves lower! The shrimp tempura was the worst I’ve ever seen and had. The batter wasn’t what you would expect a tempura to have and it looked like it had been 2 days old and refried. The shrimp itself was overcooked. We also ordered chicken curry, which turned out to be nothing but a watery, inedible mess with a grainy texture. We also ordered some fried gyoza which came to us SOGGY. I had hopes that the miso soup would at least be decent(who screws up miso soup???), but unfortunately it’s pretty bad too. This by far is the WORSTOFTHEWORST Japanese food I’ve ever had. Midori should not even call their inedible crap«Japanese» because it’s an insult. It’s so bad it makes 711/gas stop sushi taste like heaven.

I paid $ 16($ 14 + tax) for tiger roll. All I have to say is it does NOT look like $ 16 worth…

I eat there all the time and they always taste great. I like the fact that it is family ran. They always remember my name and my order. Try the Tuna salad its great. Ive had all there salads and thats my favorite. I dont know why people get so upset about this place. it is a little on the pricier side for being a little place but the food is always great quality so definitely worth it!!!

It’s not terrible, as in I’m not sick. One line slams aside, this was pretty bad. Even accounting for the price per plate and the option of ordering a combo, it’s not worth it. There are so many better noodle places or sushi places in the Pasadena/Altadena area.

Meh: had the lunch combo for 10.95– sushi didn’t taste all that fresh, chicken dry, too much salad dressing that was strangely goopy… I’d pass and go to Takuya down the street instead. You end up paying roughly the same amount at lunch for their combo for way better quality and taste. The counter lady was super nice. Positives are they do have really cheap options but you get what you pay for. Also, the previous photo with the menus aren’t accurate. A bit more pricey than listed in the photos.

Bad customer service. Crappy dining area. Only went here because I was starving. A lot of their food is overpriced since they bumped up their prices. I wish I went to the other sushi place across the street. I got the crunch roll and the Pasadena roll. The crunch roll was the most average tasting roll I’ve every had. And their serving was quite small. You can tell they cheaper out on their ingredients $ 10 for a crunch roll and you’d expect it to have good quality lol. The Pasadena roll was okay too. Nothing really special. It was $ 12. Overall I would never come back to this place. Definitely not worth the price. Overpriced cheap sushi. Take your business elsewhere there’s plenty of other great places in the area.

Great lunch time spot. Food is consistent. Service is great from a friendly and warm couple. Large menu. Menu consists of Americanized Japanese favorites with a couple of Korean items thrown in. I eat here almost once a week and always leave satisfied.

I looking for a sushi place nearby and this place pop on Unilocal. In the same plaza as del taco and Coco’s bakery. They have a good selection of rolls to choose from. Ordered their superman burrito. Pretty delicious and tasty. Prices are very reasonable and service is quick. Also the staff here was very friendly. There is ample parking in the front.

Sushi is simple and delicious. It is a mom and pop Japanese restaurant and they owners are wonderful! Plus if you work or live around the area, they deliver.

This place is a «diamond in the ruff!» Tucked in the private corner just behind Del Taco at the southwest corner of Union and Lake, it’s a must try! The owners are amazingly hospitable, kind, and gentle. The sushi is DELISH! Come and try!

I ordered take out. It’s a no frills kind of sushi place. The owners are the sweetest and the food is good. I ordered the hand roll special, 3 hand rolls for around $ 11– not bad. I also ordered the firecracker roll and had them add cream cheese inside. Although it wasn’t spicy at all, the flavor was fresh. You can always add some sriracha or wasabi for kick if you’d like! All in all, a great place for a quick no fuss bite to eat.

3 stars here means — I have eaten here twice, I haven’t gotten sick, and I will probably eat here again. My friend ordered the curry but don’t expect it to be Japanese curry because it’s not. It’s kinda like Japanese curry, but with more of a Chinese curry taste — if you know the difference, it’ll all make sense. It’s a large portion, but unfortunately it didn’t look appetizing. The sushi is perfectly fine, but I honestly think you can get better sushi rolls at Ralphs across the street. I think this place is doing the best they can for their prices. The older couple that runs the place are friendly and I like the never-ending supply of pickled ginger. I love that stuff. The Superman Burrito is probably a disgrace to Japanese cuisine but I don’t care. It’s got spicy tuna, asparagus tempura, shrimp tempura, rice, avocado, wrapped up with rice paper… but the thing that gets it the 3 stars is that spicy mayo sauce they give you. I drench my SB with that and I’m good to go.

First of all the people running the counter are super friendly and helpful. Came here for lunch. I had the tiger roll lunch special. Good stuff, no complaints from the Timster. Big fan of the salad dressing. I’m guessing it’s a sesame seed /ginger mix. It’s good. Teriyaki chicken was a little dry but still tasty. The tiger roll is very good. I give this place my recommendation for quick good eats. 2 hour parking out front is another plus. Not a fancy place but a yummy place.

This place is located on Union and Lake right behind the Del Taco and Coco’s, its tucked away but shouldn’t be too hard to find if you can find the other two that share the parking lot. The place has been around for over the 8years I’ve worked in the area and I expect it will last for many more years if they continue doing what they’re doing. I’ve seen other sushi places open and close without affecting them. 80−90% of their business is M-F at lunch but they have been trying to attract business later in the day and weekends and have recently updated some things inside(new decorations, TV, etc). I actually like their food. Its inexpensive and in the past year they’ve introduced some new menu items and reworked the menu overall. They make sushi as well as teriyaki bowls, Yakisorba, etc. Daily Specials: These are pretty static but Monday thru Friday they have«specials». Usually its chicken teriyaki with some sushi, a salad and a miso or soda. They average $ 9 – 10. Teriyaki Bowls(Spicy or not): For $ 7 they are quicka nd will fill you up and comes pretty simple, rice, teriyaki, chicken(or beef) and some steamed veggies. On both the daily special and the bowls I prefer breast meat which I believe is $ 1 – 2 more and will take an extra 15 mins for them to grill. Since most customers are local patrons from the businesses nearby I highly recommend calling in your order so by the time you walk there its ready. Sushi: I’ve had a few different rolls, mostly consisting of Spicy tuna and California rolls or combinations around that. They normally come in with the daily special but I have on occasion just bought sushi and its done pretty well. For something I can call in ahead and order, walk to and from in 5 – 10 mins and have a decent lunch I recommend giving this place a shot and maybe it will become a regular lunch stop for you.

Came in here to to-go some food for the bf and myself. The wait wasn’t too long, but the awkward silence masked by the doctor’s office like classical music made the time seem a lot longer than reality. I order two rolls and a spicy tuna roll. The bill came out to around $ 35??? pre-tip Pro: There is more than enough parking here. The service is fairly quick. They have a lot of lunch specials. If you’re eating alone, it’s a nice and quiet restaurant to visit. The rolls are fairly big. Con: It was a little overpriced in my opinion. I used to work in a sushi restaurant and anything above $ 6 for a spicy tuna roll is not worth it… The sushi was a little warm and tasted fishy… Maybe they left it out a little too long? It could be argued that because I to-goed the meal it warmed up it the car. However, my bf lives less than a mile away so that argument is invalid. Overall, the staff was friendly, but I probably wouldn’t visit again. Extras: The awkward wait time gave me the opportunity spot stare intently at the décor and signs. The décor is kind of all over the place. It’s mostly just menus, specials and such posted about. There is plenty of seating here for a small restaurant and they have a great drink selection. I’m not sure if they sell alcohol.

This is definitely more of a fast food type of japanese/sushi restaurant. First you must order up front. I have no problem with any of that, but their prices for the rolls are just as expensive as a «sit down, we bring your order» restaurant. Rewind… Let me go back to my initial impression as me and my girl walked in during our lunch break. This place is like a sauna inside! It’s about 103 degrees outside and it feels damn near the same inside minus the sun hitting you. It’s way too hot to feel comfortable eating in there for too long. I had to leave right after I finished my roll so that I wouldn’t pass out. They made me the wrong roll, but I was okay with it because I still liked the one they did make me. Except it was cheaper than the one I did order and the lady was trying to rip me off that money! I had to correct her and she questioned my correction. Ugh! Not only that, but two people ordered after us and they got everything before us. Anyway, I give this place a 3 star simply because I enjoyed the taste of my Cactus roll(I had initially order the Tiger Eye Roll). I will consider coming to get another roll here, but for sure I will get it to go.
