Aw sh*t. You’re closed. BF took me here on our first date, so this place has a nice warm cheesy place in my heart. Skirt steak was delicious, mojitos were perfect. I ordered a side of tostones(they remind me of puerto rico!) and those were really good as well. Perfect ambiance for a date night in a great location. I hope this is a chain restaurant so we can relive the experience again in another location. Boooo :(

They call themselves the best mojitos in LA, from what I’ve been drinking, I’d say that’s pretty accurate. Great choice of mojito’s — fresh fruit mojitos, champagne mojito, and great selection of Rums! Very authentic Cuban restaurant, good live music over the weekends, the menu offers a great choice of fish and meat. Lobster soup is delicious as well. This is the only place that I know in LA that takes a great effort to make good mojitos, they buy their own sugar cane and it make the mojitos A LOT better!

Visit: Friday, 6÷19÷09, 9pm. Event: Group mixer(about 50 people) Mmmmm. Can’t recommend this one. I’m only giving it 2 stars because the overworked staff was doing their best, so they get a «meh» instead of an «eek.» The front of this restaurant is bar/seating; the rear is a bar/small dance floor/larger atrium-style room. Great looking area, especially at night with lighting/candles. However! This place is so understaffed, it’s ridiculous. I can’t comment on the mojitos, because I didn’t drink that night(other drinkers said mojitos were good; strong; large glass; $ 12). Sadly, it was a Major Event to get a soda. The«Sprite» they handed me at first tasted like carbonated tap water. When I said«whoa,» the bartender fizzed another one that was exactly the same. Then he admitted that the soda machine in the back bar was broken(wow, how is fixing this not a priority?). All this after one of the longest bar waits in history. I can’t comment on the food, except to say that I’m very cautious of understaffed restaurants with broken &^%$. What corners are they cutting in the kitchen? I’ve been here before, looking to book a private room for a party. During a weekday lunchtime, there was exactly one visible staff person. This Lonely Man was the bartender/waiter/host/busboy and heaven only knows what else. Needless to say, we booked elsewhere. The staff is seemingly well-intentioned, but they are completely sabotaged by understaffing. Note to owner: appropriate staffing is well worth the investment, trust me on that. Meanwhile, skip Mojitos — there are WAY too many other places in Old Town Pas to spend your money.

Came here for brunch on a Sunday morning with a large group. This place was dead. Besides our party, there were only two other tables dining between 11am and 2pm. Of course, this was probably a good thing since we can get a bit loud. The wait service was average with only 1 server for 14 people. I ordered the churrasco and eggs to split with a friend and they ordered the spiced rum french toast. I didn’t care for the meat, the potatoes were just OK and the toast specified on the menu was not served to the five of us who ordered this dish. But the french toast with caramelized bananas was good and the bacon was VERY good. Too bad I didn’t just order a plate of bacon. Since I was the only one at the table who didn’t order a mojito with the first drink round I felt obligated to do so for the second. Man, was I disappointed. Just because it’s in the name doesn’t necessarily mean it’s good! Because I’ve only had one other mojito to compare it to I’ll give them the benefit of the doubt. The best part of this meal was the complimentary champagne and the company I was keeping. I can see why this restaurant appeals to some, it just doesn’t do it for me. I gave the three stars based on the bacon alone.

Introduced a friend to this place last week. I’ve been here at least six times now. The food is delicious. You will be satisfied with most of what’s on the menu. This time around, I was impressed because my friend is a vegitarian(although she does eat seafood/fish) and we were worried that we may not be able to find too much for her on this menu, given that most Cuban dishes are centered around meat. Not true here. We were delighted! We ordered the Mushroom Risotto and the Camarones Libre. Both were delicious! She said this was the best Cuban food she’d tasted in some time. Of course, when you come here you must order a Mojito – which are made with all fresh ingredients. I tried the Pineapple(hmmm… I give it a 6⁄10). I went back to he trusted Watermelon(8⁄10 — only because Watermelon is not in season right now so it wasn’t as good as it gets around Summer time). Either way, give one a try! Only one note: The reason I gave this place 4 stars is that it is consistently inconsistent with regards to service. The bartenders or waiters take a long time to come around(the one on Friday was much better than some in the past), but it’s just hit and miss when it comes to service. The servers are nice and friendly, but either they are covering too much space or the kitchen is backed up.

I’m not sure how it is that there are so many negative comments about the service at this place. We weren’t there at a busy time(Sunday late lunch), but the server certainly didn’t appear to be new to this establishment. Not only was she incredibly attentive and charming, I found out she is married to the incredibly attentive and charming server we had at Malbec’s! Guess it runs in the familia… Our party of three tried pork, skirt steak and chicken dishes. They were all excellent, tasty, and provided plenty o’ leftovers. The Mojito(as you might imagine) was perdy darn good also. I was not terribly impressed with the chocolate soufflé, but that probably had to do with unrealistic expectations and really– we had no business getting dessert after that much food was sitting in our gullets already. Your taste buds kinda go numb at that point…

Was there for a Friday night dinner. Not good for huge crowds… as it gets a little bit of a tight squeeze. Mojitos are good, yes they are made of sugar cane juice. I had the guava one, not bad. a lil bit on the strong side. My bf and I ordered the seafood paella and it was mediocre. We’ve had better paellas before but to its defense, it was filled with lots of seafood, mussels, clams, squid, and shrimp. There seems to be other dishes that came out better, the short ribs… the calamari salad… The bean dip/bread start was a good addition to dinner. ambience is good — very supportive of a relaxed social setting, allows you to be loud or mellow, meet new ppl or just chat with friends…

The mojitos are really tasty. Made from real sugar cane juice and fresh fruit. The owner is a riot and though originally from Cuba he apparently has taken LA as his hometown. I said SF was better… he uh, emphatically disagreed. The food was decent. The calamari was good, not too heavily battered and meat was tender. The paella was ok but not exactly what I expected. It came out in the traditional paella pan but was obviously not made in the pan and was just ladled into it. It was good but it missed the baked toasted element and the authenticity of being made to order. Paella is one of those things that you just shouldn’t prepare ahead of time in mass.

Not bad for lunch. I’ve been twice for lunch on a weekend and liked this place. Each time I’ve gone there, the place was empty and I must admit, I am not a huge fan of the waitress(she was there both times) but the food is pretty good. I really love the Queso Fundido and the Arroz Frito. I don’t think the Mojitos are that great, however. Not a bad place to stop by for some good food, but bear in mind the service can be iffy.

They make the best mojitos! They’re so refreshing it’s hard to have just one… The fresh sugar cane juice makes all the difference. The bartenders are great. They make it exactly to your liking so don’t be shy asking for them to change it up if its not to your liking. They also make a variety of other drinks with the fresh cane juice which are quite tasty. I like the pear martini and lemon verbena(if you like tart). The food isn’t bad either. =)

Like Karen L, I haven’t tried the food here so this review is strictly for the mojitos. I’m a mojito fanatic and very particular when it comes to my mojitos. Not to sound cocky, but have found very few(less than a handful of) mojitos that stack up to my(and my friends — Janice S, Jorge A’s) homemade concoctions. The one time I’ve stopped by for a mojito and this place stacked up. And, they serve you mojitos in these cool slanted glasses that are bound to be even cooler after drinking a couple of the mojitos. I ended up copying them and getting the same glasses btw.

I am just rating this for Happy Hour. The Mojitos were DELICIOUS! I had a Mango… I wanted a watermelon, but they were out of watermelon. The waitress was a bit slow, and if you have more than 5 people with you, even if you have seperate tabs, you get the grastuity automatically tacted on… I hate auto gratuity tacked, on… I would not have given 20% to that waitress… 2 drinks and almost 20 dollars later(yeah, seriously). I left. OH, they dont have the regular alcohol there. silly of me to ask if they had Jaugger in a Rum bar… what was I thinking, duh…(the answer is no, by the way). Also, they press their own sugarcane, which is pretty awesome. So, Happy Hour is expensive… 8 bucks a pop for drinks. i wonder what the regular priced drinks are… Still. it is a pretty cool place, and I will try the food next time when I am not such a broke ass. :)

My friend is a HUGE fan of Mojitos, so she decided to travel… over 50 miles to celebrate her bday in Old Town, I personally think the restaurant was pretty over-rated, and also the price range has to change from $$ to $$$. The food was pretty delicious, especially their appetizers as well as their entrees. The thing about this restaurant that sort of put me down is that it’s a big restaurant… but they decided to divide them apart. I really liked their salsa music they had on the entire time. But was missing a dance floor. Interestingly, on the other side, there was the live band with a different genre of music. Anyhow… I ordered their specialty skirt steak… couldn’t say at the spot, but seemed like the beef went bad or something… hard to chew, wasn’t as tender as expected and could not swallow that I had to spit out in the end(I’m not a picky eater and wouldn’t do that…) but I have to complain about this particular dish. Their filet mignon along with the shredded pork was great though. I wouldn’t necessarily say it’s Cuban food though, seems more like Fusion American upscale class restaurant. need to improve on their hospitality, not enough waiters.

I can speak for the Sangria, Shrimp Salad(well at least the shrimp part… VERY yum), and Roja Vedas. All the above were very good. I also had the house salad which was good with avocado on top and tasty dressing. I probably didn’t need it because I was pretty full when I finished it all, especially because we were started off with some very fresh, warm bread and some sort of bean spread/dip. I would definately recommend this place for the food and the fun music played while you eat. The bathrooms were pretty clean as well. We didn’t order the chocolate soufflé which we were told takes 45 minutes to prepare but it sure looked and smelled good on the surrounding tables. The prices are in the $$ range for dinner.

They have fixed the menu and they actually have the drinks offered. This is really some of the best happy hour food I have had and I just can’t get enough of the coconut mojitos. I really must try dinner one day, the menu choices sound DIVINE.

Went here to kick off the July 4th weekend. My friend ordered a Chardonnay(De Loach) — I called it De Lish! I figured that the place is called Mojitos for a reason, so I ordered a mango mojito. DANGSALADANG! It was the sweetest thing aside from pouring straight pancake syrup down your throat! They use real sugar cane juice to sweeten their mojitos. I like a little sweetness, but this was a bit much. We ordered the calamari and empanadas, both were delicious, not stellar, but satisfying. The décor was recently renovated — cool dark woods and muted chill tones on the walls. On the weekends they have a Salsa band play in their back patio with informal dancing(no dance floor, just outdoor tile). There’s also a back seating area that can be used for private parties. The owner, hostess and bar staff make you feel welcome — very friendly! I would go here if everything else was packed.

I LOVE this place! The Mojitos drinks here are awesome! =) Just Yummy yummy. made with ReaL sugar cane juice which they press with a machine right in front of you. The bar area is just great if you wanna just get drinks… just ask for the authentic Cuban Mojitos, they are just delicious! ;)

Excellent food, service and of course, Mojitos! I had the Chilean sea bass and have to say, it was the best I’ve ever tasted. And even if you aren’t a fan of flan, you have to try the Mojito version. It is absolutely amazing and I HATE flan! If you like Cuban food, and who doesn’t, put Mojito on your list of places to visit.

I went to Mojitos for lunch and even though I wanted to try their mojitos, I couldn’t. At least not for lunch! So my review is about their food and service. When my friend and I walked in around 130p, the hostess acted kind of rude. She was hesitant to seat us and had to check with the kitchen. I saw their lunch time sign was until 2p. Plus the restaurant was empty sans one table of women having mojitos. Then she tried to seat us at the only 2 seater table even though there was a couple of tables by the window available. I finally made the request to sit by the window. It was a sunny day and why have to sit in the darker side? I looked at their drink menu and it was good. sigh. I had water. I ordered the lunch special: entrée of the day, salad and flan. A complete meal for $ 14. It was a great deal considering the Friday’s entrée was $ 13 by itself. My friend had their steak salad for $ 11. Their house salad with vinaigrette was delicious! I had the Pierna de Lechn Asada entrée. The pork was tender and tasty! The best part was the flan. I’ve had many flans so I wasn’t expecting anything different. I was blown away when the slice of flan was placed on the table. You heard right, a slice. It was the love child of a cheesecake and flan. Pure heaven! The food was fantastic and the service was so-so. This review would normally be a 3-star but the flan gets a bonus star!

According to our waiter, this just opened about two weeks ago!(Today being 10÷5÷07) He said it replaced Xiomara. Even though it was only open a short while, they seem to have worked out any kinks. My dinner companion and I popped in here after looking first at Yujean Kang’s next door, and deciding this looked more like our speed. I was glad b/c after a grueling 10-hr day at work and messing around with QAing our web site till 7:30 at night, I was in the mood for some nice red wine. It’s really pretty on the inside, everything is warm brown/earth tones. There’s a gorgeous bar and the dining area feels small and cozy but not crowded. We started with ceviche, which was great — very fresh seafood and avocadoes included. I then had a caesar salad — really good tangy dressing and the perfect amount of sharp, aged grated parmesan cheese on top. He had the goat cheese salad — which also looked awesome — fried goat cheese on top of greens, yum! For dinner I had snapper which was perfectly cooked, kinda seared/crispy on one side, and topped with a mango/citrus flavored cole slaw kinda deal. Did not get dessert, but at the beginning of our meal they offered the standard«well you should try our chocolate soufflé, it takes 45 mins to cook so you should order it now…»(Is anyone else tired of this dessert? It seems so cliché now.) PASS! The service was great, and I couldn’t complain about any of the food… only reason i gave just 4 stars was because the Osborne tawny port I had in lieu of said soufflé, was icky sticky sweet and not worth the $ 10 per glass. And, they were out of the Delaforce port we wanted in the first place. I’d recommend this place for a mellow and relaxing dinner either with a group of friends or a date!
